Cute furry friends found in this installment of the series. I enjoy reading Ms Cahoon’s books. A little Magic a mystery. It can be a standalone book, but it’s better to read series

What image do you conjure up when you hear the term "hellhound"? If you're like me, it's a rabid, snarling dog the size of a pony, foam dripping from its mouth and, gasp, is that blood dripping from its teeth? Demonic looking. Fierce. Think Cerberus. So, oh, boy, wait till you get a look at the hellhound the Goddess has gifted Mia's boyfriend Trent with. Be prepared, in other words.

But, wait, "Goddess?" you say? Yep, there's a whole town of magical beings mixed with the regular humans in Magic Springs, including, yep, you guessed, main character Mia. She's a kitchen witch and spells for good, not to mention creates delicious meals and goodies to share with both her human and witchy friends. And, oh, yeah, she helps solve murders in her spare time.

Lately, there hasn't been much of that as she's taken on a job at the upscale Lodge where, quite frankly, she expects to be fired every day by the cranky, difficult boss. She's lucky enough to have her best friend Christina as her right-hand co-worker. Then, after Christina's former boyfriend returns to town expecting her to swoon and agree to marry him almost immediately, Christina has the misfortune to find him dead. Did I mention both the victim and Christina come from money? Her mother, complete with enough guilt trips to share with one and all, swoops in and even tries to set up the very settled Mia with Christina's brother....again. Like there weren't already enough complications, such as hellhounds and ex partners, male and female, showing up and creating jealousy. Oh, and there's the young ghost in the library, and the cat, Mr. Darcy, that seems to harbor a lost soul mistakenly zapped into the cat's body by a poorly thought out spell. And, then there's the police chief's wife who has, sigh, neglected to tell him she's a witch, too. Minor detail, right? And, there's more than a bit of humor throughout.

And, then, oh, never mind. Enough teasers. I loved this boo. Such fun. I could go on rather endlessly with the complications and twists and turns here, not to mention the magic that is simply accepted as the status quo, but, lucky you, I won't. I'll simply say, set aside reality for awhile, pick up this book, and enjoy the fun ride with Mia, hellhounds, kittens and dogs, drunks, cranky bosses, friends under suspicion of being murders and simply enjoy this fun story. If you're like me, you won't quite grasp all the nuances of the coven's ways but, well, it isn't necessary. Just accept and hang on to the roller coaster that seems to be Mia's life at times. And, oh, I can't forget. Mia's a kitchen witch, so there are recipes.

#FiveFurryFamiliars #NetGalley is another great addition to this series.
It seems like the ex's are returning to stir up issues for Mia and her friend Christina, but little do they know just how wrong they are!
This is a fast paced book that I read in one sitting. Mia is a good character and I enjoy all the fur babies that show up in these books.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

Five Furry Familiars is the latest in Lynn Cahoon's Kitchen Witch series, one of my favorite cozy mysteries. Mia and the gang are out to solve another murder and I finished this entertaining tale in a day. The cast of characters are so endearing and at the conclusion of each story I want more. This would make a great movie for Hallmark Movies and Mysteries. Make sure you check it out, either start at the beginning or in the middle, you won't be disappointed.

I really enjoyed what I read and thought the mystery elements worked with the supernatural elements. The characters felt like they were supposed to and was engaged with the story going through it. It left me wanting to read more in this world and from Lynn Cahoon.

Fun paranormal
Ms.Cahoon pens a fun paranormal about Mia, a young kitchen witch just learning about the rules of being a witch and there is much to learn. There are friends, family, a love interest and animals. She interacts with them as well as butts head with her elders and the coven about several things. She engages deeply into finding out about the victim because she knows her friends are innocent...but how to prove it? I enjoyed the tale.
I requested and received a NetGalley arc to peruse gratis and offer my opinion in the same.

Five Furry Familiars is the 5th book in the Kitchen Witch Mystery series. It takes place in the mystical town of Magic Springs. Mia Malone is the main character who owns Mia's Morsels Catering Company, She is a kitchen witch along with her grandmother, Grams. She has had to take a second job as a catering director of the Lodge Inn. She works for her difficult boss, Frank Hines along with James, the kitchen manager. Christina Adams is her roommate and works with her as her second in command. Because she has had to take a second job, she has hired Abigail Major to run her catering company while she is working at The Lodge. Abigail is her boyfriend, Trent's mother. He runs his family's business, Majors Grocery Store.

Todd Thompson, a childhoon friend who believes that Christina is his fiance. When talking to him she informs him that she was never his fiance and that she was not going to marry him, He asks that she come and have dinner with him for old time sake. He has rented a house near the ski slopes and plans to stay and ski. Christine arrives at his rental and realizes that something might be wrong as Todd does not answer his door. She calls Mark, the police chief, to come and check things out. Mark arrives and gets into the cottage and finds Todd dead.

Upon hearing about Christine having dinner with her ex, Levi Major, Christine's boyfriend, goes to see Todd and has words and punches him. When he tells Mark about it, he becomes a suspect along with Christine.

There is so much going on in the story that it is hard to put all on paper. I will leave it for the reader to enjoy. There is so much twists and turns it will keep the reader wanting to find out who killed Todd and why to the very surprising ending.

The story is a fun read and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for this ARC.

When Christina's ex is found murdered at his ski rental Mia, Trent and the whole gang have to jump in to clear Christina and Levi. Between Mia's second job as a catering director at The Lodge, Mother Adams making her appearance to watch over Christina and play a matchmaker, and a bunch of new animals Mia has her hands busy.
The kitten story didn't seem to have give anywhere, it seemed like Mia and Christina were bonding with two of the kittens and then bam, the owner appeared But Trent's new familiar is something else!

Five Furry Familiars is the fifth book in Lynn Cahoon’s Kitchen Witch Mysteries series. Mia is struggling to keep her new business, Mia”s Morsels, afloat by taking on a second job. When a murder occurs, Mia and the gang join forces to help figure out the mystery. Add in some cute little kittens who are dropped off behind Mia’s house and a little Maltese puppy abandoned on the doorstep of her boyfriend’s house, the scene is set for a fun, cozy mystery. Although each of the books can be read as standalone stories, it is enjoyable to read them all for a better understanding of the characters. I enjoy these books and am looking forward to what comes next. I recommend the entire series!

Fluffy little familiars (including a white Maltese puppy as a hellhound) are the funniest ever.
Mia is trying to learn more about her magical gifts and responsibilities while Trent has already rejected his. Up in Magic Springs the name and relationships are as real as they get and murder only complicates everything while Mia tries to solve the murder, keep her business going, and act as a go-between amid sparring factions. Good read!

This is the 5th release in the new "Kitchen Witch Mystery Series" by cozy author Lynn Cahoon. This series is a delight to cozy readers with fun paranormal elements and great characters. The author has a writing style that brings her characters alive to the reader. Her cozy series are all enchanting and fun to read. She writes the Tourist Trap series on of my favorites, the Cat Latimer, Farm-to-Fork series and this series the Kitchen Witch. Her new series is the Survivors' Book Club placed in the southwest with engaging fun characters and sleuthing with a book club. She also writes The Haunted Life. Ms. Cahoon is a favorite cozy author and each series and release are well crafted and fun to read. Thank you to the author, to Net Galley and to the publisher for the opportunity for review. . My review opinions are my own.

Mia is working to keep her catering business alive by working as a catering directior at the local popular ski lodge. The boss is difficult and rude but she needs the job while Trents Mom runs her catering business. , The job keeps her very busy but she likes the work. Her younger roomate Christine works for her catering company and lives with Mia in the old school she has renovated. She has a close relationship with her boyfriend Trent , Christine and Trents Mother Abigal.

When Christine's ex arrives trouble brews for Christine . A body is found in his rental and Mia wants to solve this mysterious sleuth to save Christine as a prime suspect. Due to her background with the police they assume Christine is the prime suspect. The fun grows with the arrival of 3 active kittens on her doorstep much to the chagrin of her cat and a maltese puppy as Trent's familiar. Its nice to see the growth of their relationship in this next in series as they work together with their friends to solve this murder.

I love the rich characters that the author creates for the reader. I read this cover to cover as I enjoy the flow of her writing and of the sleuth. The reveal surprised me at the conclusion with a suspect I did not expect. This is a fun series that is a must read for cozy readers. I look forward to the next in series.

Mia and Trent are back in another magical cozy mystery. Liked this one, although the kitten side story felt like it was left hanging? A lot of things seem to be building up to something, so expect more will be involved in future books. Still though, enjoyed this one and this series and would recommend.
