Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I went into this book expecting a spooky romance that deals with the process of coming to terms with grief. The story has all those things but I felt the romance (smut) really overshadowed the whole grieving process, and the rest of the storyline. I get that it's a romance novella with sex scenes but they really seemed to be shoehorned in at inopertune times.
I'm not sure if it's just an issue with the ARC but I feel like the book definitely needed a lot of editing. I found it hard to keep up with who was speaking and a lot of the sentences were very long, drawn out, and hard to follow.
These are just my personal views, BUT if you're into far-fetched ghost smut then this is definitely the book for you.

5/5 starsssss. I really enjoyed this book! I don’t think I’ve read a book like this before so i wasn’t sure what to expect. But I was NOT disappointed. I can’t wait to read more from this author!

I fell in love with the cover and had fun in reading this mix of horror and romance. The writing style was very nice. I definitely enjoyed the read. It was easy to get through and the story was interesting enough. Jade Church did not disappoint me.

Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

The writing style was very nice. I definitely enjoyed the read. It was easy to get through and the story was interesting enough. The idea that Sage was somehow able to just magically come back to life was a little weird for me. Like I get it’s already a supernatural read but it just didn’t feel right to me. Aside from that though I really enjoyed this!

The writing gripped me immediately, it was such an easy read and there was a great deal of suspense!
I enjoyed each and every character, just wish there was more depth to them but it is such a short book so I can imagine if this story was longer there would be.
Slightly gothic and reminded me of moments from ‘Haunting of Bly Manor’ series. The romance twined in with the horror worked well and I was surprised with a bit of spice 😅!

I was curious how a love story between a ghost and a human could turn out and Jade Church did not disappoint me. I thought it would be weird, but as it turned out, it wasn’t for me. The atmosphere that was set in the book with the haunted manor and the mysterious death was eerie and thrilling at the same time. I was led on for quite some time like Georgina with what was happening, but it was a good thing. Georgina and Sage were good together and I liked how their story turned out.

Thank you NetGalley and INKfluence for this opportunity to read rate and review this arc which is available October 13,2023!
This is a weird spicy horror romance that made absolutely no sense but the spice scenes were awesome. Like I don’t have words to describe it. Haunted house murdery ghosts and Schmexy scenes,

This book was so good it reminded me of a mystery and a ghost story all in one! my favorite books are about haunted houses set in historical times.
this book had romance and it had spook. I think the family in the house was also strange. the footsteps in the house made me freak out while reading but perfect for halloween!! I give this book 5 stars!!
5 stars

Thank you INKfluence, Jade Church and Netgalley for letting me read One Last Touch.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher I was able to read One Last Touch by Jade Church.
This is a romance horror standalone which I enjoyed.
Ghosts, a haunted house, atmospheric, unsettling and romantic at the same time. What isn't it to like?! 😉
One thing I was missing is that I wanted more of the horror and creepy feeling as it is described as an romantic horror. It felt more unsettling than creepy which I were hoping for.
But a surprising twist is included which I loved!
Like the authors writing and curious to read more by Jade Church.

One Last Touch was a quick reading gothic tale. I wish this was expanded into a full novel as the premise was interesting and I enjoyed parts of this. But ultimately it felt rushed, and some information glossed over. The character development was fairly surface level and the relationship between the MCs seemed like insta-love. The relationship jump was the big hangup for me. The FMC completely ignored some major weirdness from the MMC and then suddenly they're "together" (won't say how as that's a bit of a spoiler). I enjoyed the gothic and horror aspects but could see this being an even better story if there was more: more information, more descriptive scenes, more romance

Title: "One Last Touch: A Chilling and Enthralling Blend of Horror and Romance"
Rating: ★★★★☆ (4 out of 5 stars)
"One Last Touch" by Jade Church is a hauntingly beautiful tale that combines elements of horror, romance, and mystery in a mesmerizing narrative. Set in the eerie Alswell Manor, the story follows Georgina as she unravels the secrets of her past, confronts malevolent forces, and seeks justice for her mother's untimely demise.
Georgina's unexpected inheritance of the manor after her mother's murder sets the stage for a gripping exploration of family secrets and supernatural encounters. Determined to uncover the truth behind her mother's death, Georgina fearlessly moves into the very manor where the tragedy occurred and embarks on an investigation that will forever change her life.
As Georgina delves deeper into the mysteries of the house, she encounters a complex family dynamic that adds an extra layer of intrigue to the narrative. Church skillfully weaves together the present-day events with glimpses into the past, gradually revealing the dark history and deadly secrets that have haunted the manor for generations.
The paranormal elements in "One Last Touch" are both chilling and captivating. As Georgina explores the manor, she becomes increasingly aware of the tormented spirits that inhabit its halls. Some of these entities prove to be allies, guiding her towards the truth, while others pose a grave threat to her safety. The tension builds as supernatural occurrences intensify, keeping readers on the edge of their seats and engrossed in the unfolding mystery.
Church's writing style is evocative and atmospheric, immersing readers in the eerie world of Alswell Manor. The vivid descriptions bring the manor to life, from its creaking floors and whispering walls to the palpable sense of dread that permeates every corner. The author's ability to blend horror and romance creates a unique reading experience, adding depth and emotional resonance to the story.
While "One Last Touch" is a gripping and suspenseful novel, there were moments where the pacing felt slightly uneven. Some sections were filled with heart-pounding action, while others seemed to linger in introspection. However, these brief lulls did not detract significantly from the overall enjoyment of the book.
In conclusion, "One Last Touch" is a captivating novel that seamlessly blends elements of horror, mystery, and romance. Jade Church's skillful storytelling and dynamic characters make for an engrossing read that will leave readers eagerly turning the pages. If you're looking for a book that will both chill your spine and tug at your heartstrings, "One Last Touch" is a must-read.

One Last Touch was a quick reading novella. I did however, feel that the plot was too big for a novella and would have been better suited to be a larger novel.
There wasn't much nuance nor subtlety, but the main character was completely oblivious to everything?
The romance wasn't particularly enticing to me either.
I can see the vision, and I appreciate how the author wrote the novella. I just think it would have been much better as a longer book with more fleshed out characters and relationships.

Georgina rocks up to the manor and is greeted by two work staff – Sage the groundskeeper, and Ms Weathers the housekeeper. But neither seem to be doing their work.
The garden is overgrown and the house is covered in a layer of dust and dirt that must have been sitting there for centuries! OK, maybe over dramatic there, but it’s a lot for having a housekeeper.
So Georgina gets to work sorting out the manor during the day. And at night… well Sage has heavily suggested for her to stay in her room after sundown.
Why?
Well, read to find out.
But I will say this. There’s a scene where she comes out the shower and Sage is in the room. She shouts at him to leave but he doesn’t. So what does she do? Drops her towel and moisturises.
Yes. Really.
Like serious!? Just drops so she’s fully nude in front of this guy she’s known for, what? Two months maximum! A guy that hasn’t actually shown interest in her. Surely, this guy who (she believes) is her employee is being sexual harassed there? That’s not on!
But I find it cringey as no one would actually do that, surely! Would they? Would you?
I finished this book in less than a day. I started it just before I went to bed and read half. It took me a bit longer to read during the next day as I read in between doing housework. So good to have when you need to up your reading list for the year.
I’ve been in a paranormal thing for a bit, reading a lot of ghosts and vampires. So this fit it well.
The murder mystery aspect…it kinda gets solved quickly. But that’s not really what the story is about. Well, it is and it isn’t.
Still a good mystery and the story itself is one I haven’t heard before. It was quite refreshing in that aspect.
But… the ending… meh. Jade believes in HEA and there is one here of course. But i think it would’ve been better (IMO) to do it the other way.
Read it and you’ll know what I mean.
But it is definitely one of my faves of the year 😊

One Last Touch by Jade Church is a short ghost romance, perfect for readers looking to get a quick/easy read in for spooky season.
While the main character Georgina had her baddie moments, I have to say that she ultimately frustrated the heck out of me. She made bad decision after bad decision, and the romance felt a little unnatural (and no, that's not just because one of them is a literal ghost).
Overall, I'm glad I read it because I'm an increasingly bigger fan of the spooky romance genre, but it's not the strongest that it could be. Stronger character development/world building would come a long way in conjunction with the brilliant concept that this book has, but it was still a fairly enjoyable read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and The INKfluence for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a cute short ghost story. The synopsis had me expecting something scary - more along the lines of a horror romance. Instead, I would describe it as a cozy paranormal romance. I loved the idea, I just wish the story had been more solid. The writing was all over the place and the characters weren’t very strong. Sage’s strength, in particular, was inconsistent and changed depending on circumstance in the plot. The main character, Georgina, was completely oblivious to things that are obvious to the reader. All in all, I think this storyline was too big to be a novella.
I received this ARC for my honest review. Thank you NetGalley, Jade Church, and the INKfluence.

One Last Touch by Jade Church is a wonderful gothic tale set in present time. It's a spooky, hauntingly good romance filled with danger, and intrigue. I really enjoyed reading this book. It's the Perfect book for fall.

This was incredible and the perfect book to read during spooky season 👻
It immediately gave me gothic mysterious horror vibes and loved the opening quote to the book and really appreciated the author took time to put a brilliant playlist in there as well.
I think the author did a touching job at the grief aspect of the book and what it’s like to lose a parent - speaking from experience myself.
I loved the characters and think they blended beautifully together and the dynamic between Georgina & Sage.
I was definitely sobbing at the end! What an incredible book and can’t wait to read more of Jade’s novels🤍

For me, the characters reaction to everything and everyone around them was a little ridiculous. Especially the main character who instantly acts like she’s been a rich young lady and is weirdly rude to sage and Mrs. Weather when she meets them. Sage also falls into the weirdo category, especially in the beginning in how he both tries to get rid of the main character and how he tries to keep her safe. As the story goes on, it just seems to get worse. I just couldn’t believe these were really people.

This was one of the easiest 5 stars I have EVER given a book. This book made me happy, made me sad, made me angry and all in all just made me feel a vast range of emotions. I read it in one sitting at it is very short but it was the perfect pace. I read it on a rainy day with a few cups of tea and I have to say it was the perfect book for that type of day. Will 100% be reading more from the author and have already and will continue to recommend this book to my book loving friends!
