I had read the prequel novella to this series many months ago, so I was really looking forward to connecting with the Johnson family again.

I adored this book featuring a single dad who is dealing with the grief of losing his wife in an accident 18 months ago and a second grade teacher that lost her mother 4 months ago. The challenges that coming with losing a loved one is dealt with in a compassionate manner.

Although the book touches on heavier subjects, it is still packed with humor. We get a double meet cute here! I love those. The family text threads are another highlight. I really enjoyed all aspects of this book.

I thank the author and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of the book and am happy to leave an honest review.

Did this book make me seriously consider a desire to be a stepmom to a cute kid with a hot dad? No comment.

Let's start with Tyler. This man was perfect husband, father, and daddy material. He was so sweet and so swoon-worthy and every time Diane criticized his single fathering skills I wanted to scream in her face. He prioritized his son and made sure he felt loved always. And then there was him and Meg. If a man said half the things to me that he did to her, I'd be a puddle. And the way he described his love for his deceased wife and his love for Meg was really well said. He was so mature, so kind, so sweet, and very communicative, which is always attractive.

Now Meg. Bless her heart, I just ached right along with her through the whole thing. Her sibs didn't seem to really understand or have the patience for how she was feeling, but it was completely valid. That was probably my favorite thing that Tyler did for her—he validated her feelings. You can't work through something if you aren't allowed to feel it. She was very likeable and very relatable and I loved her growth throughout the book.

Overall it was a really sweet book with important feelings told in a way that captivated me the whole time.

A sweet and emotional story about a second grade teacher and a young widower father crossing paths after experiencing death of their closed ones.

The plot was well devised- it was enjoyable. But I didn't like Meg very much from the beginning. She mostly reacted like a child throughout the story. I know everyone has different grief process, but it wasn't how she grieved which annoyed me, I just didn't like how she handled things in life. But I appreciate the character development by the end of the book.

It was a lovely novel and the cover is very cute!

Genre: Second Chance Romance

In this book we follow two people who have suffered recent losses in their lives. Meg is a teacher whose mother just passed and Tyler who’s become a single parent after losing his wife in a car accident.

For those who have lost an important person in their lives this book touches on the grief of moving on and adding new people in your life without diminishing the memories of those whom left too soon.

This book had a very cute romance with just a few stolen kisses. Tyler was super flirty and cute and had some very laugh out loud moments. My only issue was the Third Act breakup.

Meg is an elementary school teacher who lost her mom 4 months ago and recently was broken up with by her boyfriend of 3 years, Zak. Tyler is a single dad who lost his wife almost 2 years ago and is raising his 8 year old son Krew by himself.

What can I say about this book? I loved it. The characters were so well written, great character development. The plot was engaging, and realistic. It was PG spicy (no graphic scenes). I’m looking forward to reading more books in this Rom Com series.

Thank you to Net Galley and the publisher for the ARC.

🤍 Meg is a second grade teacher who recently suffered the loss of her mom. On top of her grief, her boyfriend of 3 years breaks up with her. Before she can wallow in her feelings, her sisters force her to go out to a party where she meets Tyler. Tyler is a single dad that lost his wife 18 months prior. From their first interaction I could feel the chemistry between them. Their banter was sweet and funny. This book deals heavily with grief and moving on after the loss of a loved one. Meg has to learn to let herself be happy even though her mom wanted her to marry her ex. She also has to overcome playing the comparison game between herself and Tyler’s wife. Tyler is a great father and his son Krew was so sweet! I really enjoyed Tyler’s friendship with Meg’s dad, they were both able to bond over their grief.

🩶I enjoyed this book, it was a super quick read. As far as romantic comedies go I felt like this was a pretty average story line, I didn’t love it but definitely enjoyed it.

Wow! I really enjoyed this book. I read this in one sitting. This book kept me entertained from start to finish. It deals with loss, grief, and mourning. It’s beautifully done. The author does a wonderful job balancing the grief explored in this book with humor. I felt for the characters and their individual experiences while also swooning and having a laugh. My biggest takeaway from this book was that everyone grieves in different ways, and that’s okay. There is no timeline. Genuinely enjoyed this book! I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. Thank you NetGalley for sending me a copy in exchange for my honest review!

One more thought…Tyler Dixon (The Lord of Darkness) is definitely book boyfriend material 😍

Where to start? I only knew roughly what I was about to read because of the Blurb. Never heard of the author, and I am so glad I was interested and I was given the oportunity by Netgalley to read this book in advance.

I thought it would be a cute romance flufy read, don't get me wrong it is! I couldn't put the book down, I was mesmerised by their story.

Meg's and Tyler's meet cute was so funny, they meet in a very unconventional way:

Tyler was sat on a bench after a failed date, he was reeling on his feelings thinking he is not ready to date, he could not even last 10 minutes on a date that he had to bail, and Meg just came out of a relationship and her sisters drag her out to this Yatch party that Meg did not want to go, but she was wearing a very painful pair of heels, so she sat down in the same and ONLY bench. Were Tyler was sat.

She had to pretend Tyler was her new boyfriend due to Meg's Ex Zak walking by them with his NEW GF and he noticed Meg so he went to over to talk to her, and Meg was still hurt but wanted to show to Zak that she moved on, so here enters Meg's plan to prentend infront of Zak, that Tyler is her new Beau!!

After Zak disappearing Meg tries to run to her Uber, where she gets stuck her heel stuck, that's when Tyler helps her out but at the same time tries to be funny, and he only manage to get a raise of Meg and to wind her up, after helping her she runs to her Uber and that's the end.. or that is what they thought!!

But that moment was eye opener for Tyler, is when he realized maybe he is ready for dating...but dating MEG. But he had no way to contact her or find her...

If you want to know how meet again a second time? Check this book you will not regret it!

This book shows how the characters deal with grief, and it was so beautiful to see how the author describes it in the book the way of how each character deals with it, and the development of not only the main characters feelings, but their loved ones. The author made me feel the characters emotions while reading the book, the giggling when Tyler was flirting with Meg, the loneliness Meg felt by the loss of her mum...

You know I am a fast reader, so I rarely find myself feeling the way this book left me at the end. I am confused in a good way, I loved it, I did not wanted the book to end. I want more of them, know more of their future and their relationship. I am not one to read close door romance either, this book was a slow burn with sweet attraction moments, I am used to read more steamy books. And I still loved it, and loved the authors writting style, and having both POV's was the best insight to both minds. Beautiful!

Can't wait to read more of Kortney :)
