I loved that this was second chance romance with a bit of a dual timeline showing us the beginning of their relationship. West has been my favorite character since book one so I was very excited when we got the announcement and absolutely thrilled when I recieved this arc. This book was excellent and was the perfect way to close the Regenvy Vows series.

The best of the series!

I read books 1, 2 and 5 back-to-back - I had the first two on audio and received the arc of the final book and knew I needed to finally read them to catch up. Having the background of at least those two was extremely helpful because there was a ton of foundation for this book laid. It could technically be read as a standalone, but I wouldn’t suggest not reading at least book 1.

It was fun reading about West and Sophie get their second chance after his father (the duke) threatened her many years ago when they were about to announce their betrothal, the night before West had an accident that left him with a limp and having to use a cane, and miserable (and leaving the duke to believe he couldn’t sire an heir and off to focus on his younger son, in book 2).

I enjoyed book 5 the best of these three - these characters were the most interesting and had the best backstories. Quite a good read that was very different than most romance novels out there. Definitely recommend it!

I received an advance copy from NetGalley and Atria Books, and this is my honest feedback.

I was provided a free advanced copy of this book from @netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
It is the 5th and last book in The Regency Vows series by Martha Waters. I have enjoyed all of them immensely! Each follows a different couple in a group of friends as they deceive, trick, pretend to love, and accidentally really fall in love! ☺️
In this one Sophie and West finally get their chance! Seven years ago they were almost engaged when things went awry. But now, widowed Sophie is worried her sister won't marry if she doesn't remarry. This, she proposes to West to pretend to be engaged at least until her sister remarries. Will this plan go awry as well?, and will Sophie and West finally be able to admit their feelings?
This is a really fun series, and they do build on each other, so I would recommend reading them in order. But if you're looking for a relaxing romance with great friendships, funny scenarios, and a Regency setting, check these out!
This one is set to be published on Tuesday, 6 February, so add it, and the other four to your TBR!

A very sweet ending to this series! I will miss it. I hope Martha shares a new series with the world soon; she is now a must-read author for me.

Thanks to Atria and NetGalley for the ARC.

This story is told in third person and follows West & Sophie. This is the fifth book in The Regency Vows series. You can read the stories standalone but keep in mind that the characters in the series are all friends and attend events together across the series, so their circumstances are alluded to in the separate books. I’ve been fascinated throughout the series with the history between West and Sophie and was happy to finally get more details about what happened between the couple in the past and their reasons for reconnecting.

I also was looking forward to hearing more of the details surrounding the accident that preceded their earlier breakup, West’s injury and ongoing grief over the loss of his best friend, David. I was initially frustrated with some of the tidbits but as the story progressed with flashback chapters full of emotional struggles and secretive events that only certain characters were privy to along the way, I started to get a full picture of what happened in the past as the story continued in the present timeline. I still feel like some of it was a little ambiguous, but overall, I really enjoyed the story.

This couple has been through the wringer and while some of it could have been resolved with more communication and less secrets, I understand Sophie’s decisions given the worries about both the threats against her family and the regrets West might have felt. Still, watching his heartbreak over and over was a bit hard to take at times.

A wonderfully funny romantic novel!!! I became enamored with West and Sophie instantly. Their witty banter made me smile. Of course it can’t be a romance novel without the required obstacles to their happily ever after.
If you are a fan of Bridgerton then this is definitely a book for you. I will have to go back and read all of the books in this series now!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I think this is my favorite of the series. If you love a good second chance romance, this is the story for you. The angst is just perfect for what I was looking for in this kind of story. This is one of those books that you really should read the rest of the series first to get the full picture of the couple. I really enjoyed the flashbacks that helped tell the story of what this couple has been through over the years. This book also really wraps up the series really well.

Thanks #NetGalley for the advanced copy of #ToWooandtoWed by Martha Waters in exchange for an honest review.

To Woo and To Wed is a fitting, satisfying wrap-up to a consistently entertaining series about love, friendship, and offbeat relationships. The series as a whole balances light-hearted romps and banter with some serious (but not too heavy) themes about family obligations and expectations. Book #5 ties the entire series together in a way that’s sure to please its faithful readers.

This was a good read and conclusion to this series. I love when historical romance gives me exactly what I need with banter, humor, and feels. This is a second chance romance between Sophie and West and is told in both present and past timelines. We see West and Sophie at the beginning of their relationship when they almost got engaged and why they didn't. Sophie ends up marrying a friend of Wes, becomes a widow, and comes into contact with Wes again. There is a fake engagement plot, a great friend group, good humor, and banter. The chapters in the past helped me to understand the heartbreak, grief, and tragedy that the main characters went through. The tension and chemistry were also well written, and two steamy scenes were steamier than I expected which was nice. I loved seeing all the friend groups and couples together it made for a good ending. Thank you, Atria for this arc!!

I wasn't disappointed with this book, I just didn't love it as much as the other. Plus of this second chance romance is the communication. I do like that it went in and at least some aspects of the past were talked about. I just didn't love this as much as the others.

It's the ending the series and I'm a little sad.

I got an e-arc of this book on NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I love a series that ends with as much heart as it started with - this final installment in Waters' Regency Vows series is DELIGHTFUL and gives everyone a chance to see their favorite characters live out their happy ever afters. This is a close tie with To Love and to Loathe as my favorite in the series, and I can't wait to see clever games Waters' gets up to next <3

Thank you Atria for the ARC - out 6 FEB!

Synopsis:
West, the Marquess of Weston, and Sophie, Lady Fitzwilliam Bridewell, have lately been spending a considerable amount of time together. But West and Sophie are not new acquaintances. In fact, years ago, they had once been nearly engaged until West’s almost fatal curricle accident and his meddling father threw them off course.

Now recently widowed, Sophie has put aside all thoughts of romance. But when her widowed sister, Alexandra, mentions a fondness for an earl, Sophie realizes that she may be holding her sister back. Alexandra won’t move forward with an engagement until Sophie, too, settles down again, and so Sophie approaches West with a plan. They will announce their engagement and break things off once Alexandra is happily married. It’ll be simple. After all, it’s not like she is going to fall for West a second time, not when Sophie has sworn not to risk her heart again.

While I am so sad to see this series end, this is the perfect way to end! West and Sophie have some of my favorite banter of the entire series (which is full of wonderful banter).

I really loved seeing some disability representation in this series! I LOVED that there were scenes in which West explicitly requests to stop standing or move locations due to his leg.

I can’t wait to see what Martha Waters puts out next!

Seven years...

West, at 24, wanted to marry Sophie. However, his father and circumstances meant that he never got his chance and Sophe wed another. Now, seven years later, she is a wdow.

I really liked both Sophie and West. I know I'm coming into this series late (this is the last book in the series) and have read several out of order. But hands down, West and Sophie were my favorite couple. They were good people, witty but dealing with his complex, difficult duke of a father who does NOT want his son and heir to marry Sophie. Like, ever,
I thought how West handled his father was mature and and not under his thumb. It was a fresh take on the normally route and boring father/son relations in Regency romances. I just really liked West.
Recommend.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars

This was just a delightful read. I’ve enjoyed the whole series, but I think the last two are my favorites.

I really enjoyed West and Sophie’s story. I’m so glad that we got their book after they were on the periphery in previous ones.

West and Sophie have been running into each other on and off for years after their missed engagement. They had such affection for each other bad and it was so sad to see how West’s father interfered. I was grateful for the alternate timelines so we got to see their interactions over the years. I loved seeing all of the couples from the previous books and see how their relationships have progressed.

I highlighted so many lines, especially when West is speaking to Sophie about his feelings. “ “If I thought there was the slightest chance that you would have me, I would be on my knees before you in an instant,” he said quietly.” West had so many swoon worthy moments. I really loved how their story was wrapped up. I also loved how they bested West’s father. I can’t wait to see what Waters writes next!

I love regency era romance and I love everything by Martha Waters, and this was no exception! Second chance romance is one of my very favorite tropes and this was done beautifully. The banter was excellent. The romance was swoony. I loved!

Let me first say that I absolutely loved this series by Martha Waters. I've enjoyed each book so much, and I've been waiting for Sophie and West's story for so long. That said, I was thrilled when I heard that they were going to be focus of the last book. While I enjoyed the book, I was hoping for more from the couple's story. I think this is partly because the wind up to West and Sophie's happy ending has been built up so much throughout the series that I was expecting more. I hate to say it, but I was just left a little underwhelmed with how the plot progressed. Maybe its just because the other books were so well done, my standards were just a little too high haha. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC!

I've enjoyed the entire Recency Vows series by Martha Waters but have been waiting for Sophie and West's story from the get-go - what can I say 2nd chance romance might be a favorite of all the basic tropes. I'm a sucker for the mutual long-time pining etc. I love the intrigue that broke them apart when they were younger and the meddling intrigue by Sophie and their friends that brings them back together for this book. It was a glorious ending to a wonderful series! (Bonus for the cane rep).

A heartfelt, second chance/fake engagement Regency romance between a recently widowed lady of the ton and a disabled Duke under pressure to produce an heir. This fifth book of the Regency Vows series picks up where the last book in the series left off and features cameos from Sophie's other four sisters. I would definitely recommend reading this book after you've read the others for full enjoyment. It was excellent on audio and perfect for fans of authors like Julia Quinn or Virgina Heath. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and Simon.Audio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review!

"To Woo and to Wed: A Winning Conclusion to Regency Vows Series"

In "To Woo and to Wed" by Martha Waters, readers are treated to a delightful historical romance that tells the tale of West, a Marquess, and Sophie, a widow, who are given a second chance at love. The two were nearly engaged seven years prior, but a devastating accident and the interference of West's father, the Duke, caused their relationship to crumble. Sophie ultimately married someone else to secure her sister's marriage prospects, while West resigned himself to a life of solitude. Yet, despite their attempts to avoid each other at social events, the two couldn't help but yearn for one another.

This book is treasure trove of wit and humor, and I truly enjoyed the lively banter between the lead characters, as well as Sophie's sisters and her inner circle. Sophie and West's attraction simmers slowly, and their chemistry is plain to see for all their friends. The author's skillful execution of historical dialogue, especially in the steamy scenes, is laudable. The book's enthralling mix of "fake engagement" and "second chance" tropes is a winning formula that makes it an engaging read.

This fifth book, "To Woo and To Wed", is the highlight of the Regency Vows' series. This book is a delightful read, with Sophie finally putting herself first and West bravely confessing his love. If you're a fan of well-crafted historical romances, I highly recommend giving this novel a try.

Thank you Martha Waters and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. Opinions in this review are my own.
