I love that we got more of Vero’s backstory in this novella - she’s my favorite character in the Finlay Donovan series and I always want more of her! I’m excited to see how all of what we learned plays out in the next full length book.

Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank is the story of Vero and her backstory before and up until she meets Finlay. Even though this is book #3.5 in the series, it is the first I have read, and I think it’s the only one that can or could be read out of order. It involves a restart in Vero’s life as well as solving a small mystery and reintroducing a special love/lust interest. The chemistry between the main characters is fabulous. I like that Vero has caring family with her cousin and mother even though she doesn’t always want them getting involved. And the attraction and allure to a former boyfriend is palpable. Even though there are serious things going on, the story is light, witty, comedic and fun. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the books in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press/Minotaur Books for the digital ARC.

As a fan of Elle Cosimano, I was excited to dive into this short story, especially since it was written by popular demand. It was great to finally learn how Vero and Finlay met and get more insight into Vero’s backstory. The narrative was easy to follow, enjoyable, and offered some fun moments for fans of the series. However, while it filled in some gaps, it was missing the wow factor that made the main books more memorable.

A story all about Vero? I had been so insanely excited for this, to get more insight into Vero, and this didn’t disappoint in the slightest! The perfect novella to complement the rest of the series as we head into the next release!

Loved this quick read! Vero's humor and relationship with Finlay Donovan made me love the series. I enjoyed being able to get to know Vero's backstory and how she met Finlay. We also saw more of her history and relationship with Javi. I just wished this was longer because I really like Vero!

I’m delighted to read the background on Vero, and how she met Finley. This short read was the best hour I spent today. Any fan of the Finley Donavan series must read this.

Thanks to Net Galley And St Martins Press for a satisfying short story

Vero is one of my favorite characters in the Finlay universe, so it was extremely fun to see the world from her POV. I applaud Elle’s ability to build both a mystery and romance arc in a novella. I was left excited for the next full length book and hopefully more of Vero and Javi in present day. Vero and Finlay meeting at the end of the novella was the perfect way to end a prequel! These two are possibly my favorite literary duo since Holmes and Watson.

Thank you to Minotaur Books for the eARC. All thoughts are my own.

Vero Ruiz gets her own book! It is a short story and this one takes place before Vero met Finlay Donovan, the woman who would soon be her partner in crime, albeit not by choice. In this short, Vero has left college and decides she wants to go into banking. She knows she has the smarts, so hopefully she can convince her family to let her lead her own life. It might be a bit prophetic for her future life, but Vero finds that what she wants and what happens with her life are two entirely different things.

Many thanks to Minotaur and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read Veros story. This is such an important backstory to why Vero is how she is and why she is willing to do what she does with Finlay.

Elle knows how to please her fanbase. They cried for Vero's story & she delivered. How sweet is that?? 💜

I enjoyed the story, despite its shortness (a novella). I wanted more, especially more scenes with Javi. 🔥

I'm extremely eager for the next Finlay Donovan book. I'm actually hoping for a dual POV & I typically don't like those!

ADORABLE. Hilarious little short story that added a decent amount of context to the full-length novels. Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's for allowing me to give this a try--you guys put out some really quality material.

Thank you Minotaur Books, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the digital arc.

This is a fun short addition to the Finlay Donovan universe and gives readers a glimpse of Vero’s background. Definitely could have been longer to share more of Vero’s story, but it’s cute read for anyone who has read other books in the series.

This is a quick read for Vero fans, it answers how she came to be Finlay's Nanny and a bit. more about her and Javi's past.

It is fast paced and has the same fast packed action that the other books in the Finaly Donovan series have. It does lack a bit as part of Vero's charm is how well matched she and Finaly are as a team.

It was great to learn how they met, connected as it gives more background to the previous Finlay Donovan books.

Really wanted to love this book as this is one of my favourite series but it fell short. I think the main problem I had with this book was that it needed to be longer. Vero is one of my favourite characters and I don't think we fully got her story in this short novel. Hence the low rating. I love the writing and the author just feel like Vero deserved a better book!

Fans of Finlay Donovan wanted a Vero story. And Elle Cosimano gave it to us with a short story- Veronica Ruiz Breaks the Bank. This is a Vero backstory and begins with her running away from her sorority and ending up in a bank trying to catch a thief. There’s a Finlay Donovan Easter egg and the beginning of their friendship. This is a great way to use those Amazon digital credits.
There is also a preview of the new book coming out in March.

We need more Vero!
