In summary: Various poetic verse.

This my first book of poetry by Marc Di Saverio.

I enjoyed reading the poems, which were interesting and diverse.

〝I would weep your tears and mourn
your errors, I would live your nightmares
and feel your terrors; I would taste
the wastelanding water of your soul〞

★★★

thank you to guernica editions and netgalley for providing me with this arc.

songs of my surrenders is the follow up to di saverio's highly acclaimed epic poem crito di volta. whether writing about romantic love, filial reverence, friendship, or brotherhood, di saverio insists on passionate and profound connection.

reading poetry is such a personal experience. while I loved some of the imagery and the flow of the poems the themes were just not for me. my favorite poems were 'sonnet of impending ending' and 'I would weep your tears and mourn'. I enjoyed the few poems about heartbreak, loss and grief but a lot of them were too religious for my taste.

if you like religious themes and imagery; you'll probably really enjoy this because the poems were objectively very good even if they weren't for me.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book.

While I really wanted to like this, ultimately the authors style of writing wasn't for me and I couldn't get into this.
