Wow. When I first started this book, I thought I knew what was coming. I was proved very wrong. The story telling was phenomenal. As horrifying as the story is, it was beautifully written and you can feel the main character's distress as your own while reading it. As Morgan begins to question her sanity and grip on reality, the reader questions which version of Morgan will win and see the light at the end of the day. This book leaves you wanting more answers in a way that makes you want to wish you didn't know what happened in the first place. It it gives off demonic- cult, Sucker Punch vibes and keeps you hooked until the very end. Loved it.

What on earth did I just read? That was the strangest thing I’ve ever read.

I received this as an ARC from netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This review is posted across all platforms.

This plot is bizarre. The blurb was enough to get my interest, but several points throughout this book I wanted to put it down. The plot is basic; a girl is trying to find out what happened to her sister in an insane asylum, so she goes undercover to figure out what happened.

It gets real weird, real quick.

I don’t like any of the characters, except maybe the poor detective and Darius (and I really want to know what happened to him). They’re all mentally ill obviously. There’s not a lot of depth except to the main character, who has maybe a little too much depth.

The writing is… not easy to read. The flow is choppy and a lot of the word choices are a bit more difficult than what I would’ve liked. It’s definitely a more educated tone, which would be fine if the plot was interesting enough to keep me hooked.

It. Was. Weird. I didn’t like the physiological meandering for lack of a better term. It made the whole thing very hard to piece together. Bits of the book had me gagging and wanting to put it down, but mama didn’t raise no quitter.

Not my cup of tea to say the least. 2⭐️ because the plot was interesting, albeit confusing.
