The town is in panic and everyone suspects that you know what happened or you maybe done something to them. Fast forward 20+ years…. There’s always something in the media around the missing teens anniversary of disappearance and there is you…. The looks, some pitty, some hateful. These small towns talk you know and you are all that’s left of the foursome. This story gets massive attention when the older brother of one of the missing girls is pursuing a career as a filmmaker. He up for an award for one of his films, and decides that this year‘s anniversary of the missing teens would be the ideal time to make a documentary and try to come to the truth behind what really happened the night of the sleepover. He has connections and he is sticking his nose in everyone’s business, but will he be able to solve this 25-year-old mystery? Or will he just put himself in the line of fire? This book was masterfully written. It is full of suspense. It is definitely an edge of your seat thriller, and when you think you have things put together, you will surely find out you are wrong this book I am aware that there will be a sequel and I cannot wait to see what that book will hold. The Night Of The Sleepover
Kerry Wilkinson

🌟🌟🌟🌟

This super twisty thriller had me hooked from the start and guessing until the end!

15 years ago, Leah and her three friends had a sleepover but in the morning only Leah remained and there were no signs or clues as to where the other three had disappeared to!

When I read the blurb for this I knew I was going to love it.
As we follow the story over a couple of timelines, the story of the night gets told bit by bit.
Present day, one of the missing girls' brothers, now a film maker, is planning to commemorate this anniversary of them going missing by making a documentary.
Determined to find out what happened, emotions run high for him, but also for the one remaining girl, who is facing more and more questions than ever before.

With only a fairly small cast of characters, this one really had me stumped as to who to suspect - which led me to not trust any of them. Especially as moods and attitudes frequently see-sawed.

The characters were well thought out so that each of them had something to hide or some reason to be a suspect.
The plot was also really well worked - I didn't see any of it coming.

There were quite a few different threads to this storyline, each one feeding us little bits to add to the timeline of events.
As these weaved together, things started dropping into place and allowed me to work out what I thought had happened - only to find one final twist which hopefully leads us nicely on to the plot for book 2, which I believe is due to come out in December 23.
Am really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for everyone.

💕Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for my ARC copy - this is my honest review 💕

The Night of The Sleepover has an intriguing premise, it is suspenseful and has many twists and surprises. While some moments may require a suspension of disbelief, the dual timeline narrative adds depth to the story, even though it feels a bit reparative in places. The narrator's performance is adequate. Overall, this book is quite readable but not a particularly memorable one.

Four go to bed and only one is there in the morning??

This one was such a mystery to me. There are 3 girls missing and years later they’re still missing! Someone is making a documentary and bringing up old memories from that night.

There were a lot of characters in this one so remembering everyone was tricky! I really wasn’t able to guess how it ends and then the very last chapter just changes EVERYTHING!

Talk about a double twist!

I’m not going to spoil that ending, because everyone should have the opportunity to be utterly shocked like I was, but all I can say is wow.

1. The narrator of this audiobook was great. She had great range and emotion. Too often monotone narrators ruin good books, this most certainly was not the case.

2. This was an enjoyable story. The plot was unique in a way that wasn’t from the lense of the documentary itself, it had so many more parts of the story that wasn’t all documentary focused. There were also a lot of times where you believe that you know what happened at the sleepover. You will most likely be wrong! In such a good way!

Definitely recommend this book as an audiobook or a read. Either way, you are going to devour it!

I DID NOT SEE THAT ENDING COMING!!!!!! Did you hear ? I said I did not see it coming! Hurrah hurrah hurrah! If you know me. You know I guess the ending too often then get really annoyed at myself and it makes it a little less enjoyable obviously so this was an absolute winner.

4 friends. All on a sleepover, only one wakes up alone the next day, for years on the anniversary everyone dredges back up what could’ve happened and where did the missing girls go. Are they dead? Still alive? Some many years later on the anniversary a documentary film is being made. Will they get to the bottom of it? You definitely should read it and find out.

Loved it, relatable. Believable. Shocking. Dark and twisted.

A fun and Fast paced plot with a well thought out plot twist and plenty of clues sprinkled throughout.

This book is a slow burn. The first third seemed to be more about the aftermath of the disappearance - how people reacted/were treated/coped. Then there is a bit of a mystery developing - though fairly slowly. But the last 15% of the books was a wild ride. Many twists I did not see coming. But also - looking back, there were some hints.

It mostly takes place in the present, though there are some flashbacks to the past. I found the flashbacks very interesting and wished there was more of that.

I’m not a slow burn fan, but for those who enjoy that style - this is the book for you! The concept and storyline were good - but the ending, what people believed, and the reasons behind what happened were very original (I don’t want to go further into it so as not to give away spoilers) and I really enjoyed that!

Overall I give this book 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4. It’ll

When a documentary of a sleepover where three girls died starts production, Leah, the only girl to survive, starts getting anonymous emails telling her to stop people digging into the past. I love thrillers that have lots of secrets! This story was so entertaining with its dual timelines and that ending was wow! I'm excited that there will be a follow up book.

High quality audio arc of this cracking thriller. A relatively shirt action packed listen hooking you with a story about 3 girls who disappeared 20 years ago at a sleepover and the mystery of what happened.
I felt in places the narration could gave done with a different voice especially for the male xharacter as they odten lacked emotion. Thecstory itsrlf was full of action and emotion. Enjoyable from beginingbyo end a little farfetched and the big reveal teaction seemed a bit muted but i think that was to get metyo listen to part 2.
Hugh recommended 5vstar listen. Tganks net gallery and publisher gor this mystery. Its so worth a listen. Anyone who loves a good mystery and a emotion packed story full of twists and turns. 5 star throughout

The Night of the Sleepover is an interesting story idea and a great conclusion but it was a chore for me to get there.

Twenty-five years ago Leah had a sleepover with three of her friends. When she wakes up she is alone. None of her friends were there. They just vanished. Now in the present day, there is a documentary being made about the girl's disappearance.

The production of the documentary and most of the events surrounding it did not interest me. I wanted to know what happened to the girls but I just didn’t get into the documentary.

There is an anonymous email to Leah telling her to get the documentary stopped. This should be interesting but the way it’s presented failed to grab me fully. Again, I wanted to know what happened to the girls and why someone wanted this documentary stopped but I just didn’t find the delivery interesting.

When we finally found out what happened to the girls I was shocked. It was not what I expected and I loved the conclusion and how everything fit together. I wish this idea was told to me differently but what we have here is a unique story with a great ending.

Kerry Wilkinson, what rock have you been hiding under? I am so glad I found you!
I am an avid Thriller/Mystery reader, and this ending got me! What is even better at the end of the book I found out Part 2 is coming out in December! I cannot wait to see how this twisty tale wraps up.

I admit I was a bit skeptic going into this book. because I was unfamiliar with Wilkinson, but with each passing chapter I was more and more invested in the plot. I even found myself connected with the characters. Wilkinson's character development and perfect amount of red herrings / nuggets dropped along the way led to a very satisfying ending.

This book made me think back to sleepovers I had has a teenage girl, mine were much more tame than this quad of girls ( usually a movie, playing MASH, flipping through Seventeen (OMg do you remember the embarrassing stories, that was my absolute favorite, I wonder if they were real? That magazine had me convinced I had about a 98% chance if I wore a bikini my top would come off or there was a 94% chance that if my crush showed up I would either 1) Spill water on my pants to make it look like i had wet my pants or 2) pass gas)--How lame, but I LOVED those-don't lie you know you did too...We of course would read the deep articles as well, I Mean they were heavy, "What Will You Wear To Back To School" or "3 Best Ponytails for your Face" -all total confidence builders of course, staying up late talking about who we had a crush on (serious drama ) and sleeping late)But the fact that if I woke up after one of these nights only to find my friends completely gone without a trace, I am not sure what I would have done?
Well Kerry Wilkinson paints a picture of a woman who survived such a night with every nook and cranny of paranoia that would come with it. Her character was real. Her past traumas and current threats are knit together and provide a thriller that will knock your fuzzy socks off!

Thank you Kerry Wilkinson for coming out behind that rock and introducing yourself to me! Many thanks to Net Galley for this Advanced Audiobook of THe Night of THe Sleepover. I was not paid or influenced for this honest review. *Hint Please approve me for Part 2** Go Buy This when it publised OCtober 23 2023

I really, really enjoyed listening to The Night of The Sleepover, it was a fabulous listen, and it certainly kept me on my toes trying to figure out what happened, which I definitely didn't. It. also had an excellent ending that felt like just as you were closing the door on the mystery, someone put their foot in the door, leaving it ajar.

The morning after a vodka-fueled teenage sleepover with her three closest friends, Leah wakes up to the sight of three empty sleeping bags. Her friends are missing, never to be seen again. Twenty years later, a documentary filmmaker is raking up mud, determined to uncover the truth about what really happened to the missing girls. Then the threatening anonymous notes start arriving, imploring Leah to stop the documentary at all costs…. or else.

This is an interesting read but an extremely slow burn. It feels like not a whole lot is happening for about 75% of the book with all of the twists and payoff at the end. It’s not exactly gripping but it’s a solid read worth sticking it out until the conclusion, which did really surprise me! There will be a sequel in December, but most of the major loose threads felt wrapped up, so we’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store!

The audiobook is narrated by Olivia Darnely, who did a great job voicing Leah as both a teenager and an adult woman. Her narration was perfectly in keeping with the mood of the book and enhanced my enjoyment of the story.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me an advance copy of this book.

The Night of the Sleepover follows Leah who woke up at sleepover to find her 3 friends missing. 20+ years later and the mystery hasn't been solved but a film crew start snooping about but someone doesn't want the truth to come out.

Wonderful narration in this audiobook and super easy to listen to. I got through it in just a few days and was kept guessing right until the end. Full of suspense and a bit creepy in place. The characters were really interesting and I enjoyed the grittiness that Leah's troubled and complex history with her parents brought to it. The author has done an excellent job tying up the story but also leaving enough open for the sequel. The only part that doesn't make sense now having finished it is what happens at the bowling alley but can't say anymore without giving part of the book away and I really enjoyed reading that part. I will definitely be reading the next one.
8/10

Twisty and unforgettable story plot!

The story composed with a dual time line which I loved it so much. A dual time line always provided more background and it was the backbone of the story as well. The story was about Leah and three of her friends had a sleepover. When Leah woke up the next day, three of her friends disappeared . She was the only one still alive. The whole thing was still a mystery.

Twenty years after, Leah was invite to film a documentary. The filmmaker was one of friend's brother. While they were preparing the documentary, Leah received a threaten message. Who was trying to stop them reveal the truth 20 years ago?

The story was gripping, not only unputdownable, it's also unforgettable. The narrator did very well to let all the characters alive!

Another winner from Kerry Wilkinson - he never fails to deliver!

Imagine being haunted by the day you woke up in the morning of a sleepover with three of your best friends, to find them all gone! I had chills just imagining how this would feel for a young girl. And twenty years later, as a young woman, trying to get on with your life, someone wants to bring it all up again and make a documentary. - the thought of that gave me anxious butterflies in my tummy.

Such a well played plot with a twist I never would have guessed. I can’t wait for the sequel.

Olivia Darnely’s narration was excellent.

@kerry.wilkinson’s newest novel, The Night of the Sleepover, is about a group of 4 girls that are BFFs. At one of their sleepovers, 3 of the girls go missing and Leah sleeps right through their abduction! This story is told from dual timelines and is full of twists. The ending was shocking and I completely did not see it coming. I’m still thinking about it days later. Make sure you check out this audiobook when it publishes on 23 October 2023!
