I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! I was fortunate to receive a digital copy before its official publication date. Upon its release, I promptly ordered a physical copy, which now resides in my sewing area. As a beginner in sewing and quilting, I have largely self-taught through online resources such as YouTube, particularly focusing on patchwork quilting.

One aspect of quilting that has posed a challenge for me is the binding. While I found some helpful videos online, I still encountered difficulties. This book, however, has been an invaluable resource! I appreciate the high-quality photos, detailed step-by-step instructions with visuals, insightful tips, and the QR code linking to instructional videos.

Thanks to this book, I have successfully used two different binding techniques and felt immensely proud of the results. I believe this book would be beneficial for anyone seeking guidance and inspiration in binding and edging techniques.

To enhance my quilting experience further, I plan to have my physical copy spiral-bound at Staples or Office Max. This will allow the book to lay flat on my sewing table or fit easily into my book stand for convenient reference.

The Ultimate Binding and Edge-Finishing Guide for Quilting and Sewing is a good book for basic information on binding. This is all presented clearly both in written form and photographs. The second half of the book gives more interesting options, again clearly presented. This is a good reference book on binding for any quilter or sewer.

I’m no quilter but this looks like a good book for finishing and binding for any sewing project. The instructions are well-written, easy to read and understand, and are accompanied by clear and relevant pictures. I would have appreciated some diagrams for even clearer instructions though.

4 and a half stars.

As a quilter, one of the things that is most daunting for me is binding the edges of my quilt. So when I saw a free digital copy of this book available on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review I jumped at the chance to have a look.

There are so many images in this book, to go along with the instructions. Everything is very clear and concise. It tells you exactly what you need, why you need it, and how you need to use it. If you have ever been quilting and found that you just wanted a straight answer about your options and the pros and cons of each, this is a fantastic book for you.

The book covers everything from the most basic types of binding to more specific cases and even decorative possibilities. It talks about styles that have been around forever, as well as trendy and cute ideas. It even mentions binding that suits alternative quilting techniques, like quilt-as-you-go.

Ultimate Binding and Edge-Finishing Guide for Quilting and Sewing is a useful and well photographed tutorial guide for finishing and binding by Deonn Stott. Due out 6th Feb 2024 from Fox Chapel, it's 80 pages and will be available in paperback and ebook formats.

This is a creative and beautifully illustrated guide with step-by-step directions for lots of fun edge finishes for sewn items, quilts, linens, and crafting projects. The author writes clearly and understandably and the "action shots" in the tutorials are all clear, in color, and without tools or hands in the way.

It's a very short book (80 pages), but packed full of useful info. It will be a welcome addition to the home sewist's library and would be a good choice for public library and maker's groups.

Five stars. The tips on turning corners and miters alone are worth the price of the book. VERY clear closeup/macro photos. All the photos are in color.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

I’ve been quilting for many years and I highly recommend this book for beginning quilters up through experienced ones. The directions are very thorough and take you from basic materials needed through more advanced techniques such as scalloped bindings.
Enjoyed this book so much I will buy one for my home quilting library!

Excellent discourse on quilting. It not only covers adding binding in great detail, which many find frustrating, but also about adding decorative edges like scallops or prairie points. With all the reading I have done regarding quilting, I have not come across making prairie points and may add it to my next project. The addition of fancy edges puts some fun into sewing the quilts.
I highly recommend this book as a good reference resource to have at your fingertips.
I received this advanced reader copy from NetGalley for free and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Ultimate Binding and Edge-Finishing Guide for Quilting and Sewing by Deonn Stott is a definite for your resource library. While avid quilters have no problem with a basic binding many shy away from the more difficult ones because no one showed them how. This book explains it all wonderfully. I would definitely use the information to make a more interesting edge.

Thank you to Deonn Stott, Fox Chappel Publishing, Landauer Publishing and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I learned how to do basic quilt binding from my mom, and never really had any guides. This book looked interesting as a resource, and did not disappoint. The introduction has some great photos of the tools and supplies needed for this task. It also has a handy section on how to calculate the amount of fabric needed. The instructions are flawless--easy to follow, with each step illustrated with a color photo. The book contains instructions for basic binding technique, but also several fancier variations that look interesting to me, including self-binding, invisible binding and chenille binding. There are also instructions for different types of quilt edges. This is a great little guide. I would definitely buy it if I were doing quilting more regularly! Great resource!

Thank you to Fox Chapel Publishing and NetGalley for providing an advance review copy. My opinions are my own

As a Quilter, one spends a great deal of time in the making the quilt, Having put such an effort into it most patterns or books very rarely advises how to bind the finished item. This book has 16 different ideas to enhance and finish the quilt. Not all quilts are equal when choice of binding is concerned, this book introduces Pieced binding, Scrappy binding, bias tape binding, denim binding, Plush fur binding, odd angle binding, scalloped and curved, Inner or Outer angle and finally Pieced as you go.
The instructions are very good as are the photos. I really think this a a good book, and one that could be a starting point of other ideas for your own quilts in the future. Thanks you NetGalley and the publishers for the DR.

I thought that this book was well layer out and everything was explained very well the descriptions and pictures were perfect. I loved the little video links throughout. My favorite was the sound of bias vs grain of fabric. It has everything from standard bonding to binding with strange fabric and odd angles. Really think this would be a go to book for someone not familiar with finishing a quilt. The only part I thought was lacking was the binding stitches. There are so many traditional hand stitches for binding quilts and only one is mentioned which can make the reader feel like the way they were taught is wrong. Especially when you go into so many different styles of machine stitching. Still love this book and would recommend to my beginning quilting friends.

Nice little book, handy to see the basic binding methods and a few creative options. There are good pictures and even some QR codes for videos.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and give an honest review of this book.

The final touch on a quilt that has been lovingly produced, is the binding. If it is messy or not done correctly, it can detract from the final product. If it is done in a neat, interesting way, it can add much to the look of the quilt. Also, if the binding is done correctly, it can add years of usage to the life of the quilt.

This book covers basic bindings for a quilt. It also teaches fancier finishes such as using prairie points, scallops, and rick rack to trim the edges. The best part about this book is the many clear photographs. Because of these photos, the instructions are clear and easy to follow.

This handy book should make it into every quilter’s library. It makes the perfect reference for finishing that masterpiece quilt that took so long to make!

This book has really good pictures that document every step of the process. There are number of fun variations for finishing quilts. I liked the variety as I don't always like the look of a plain binding. This would be a good book to have on hand.
