Love, unscripted is a lovely story about a small town girl and a famous actor. Chloe has written a book and it’s so good that it’s turned into a movie. And Liam has the lead role. To boost his career and her book and the movie, they decide to enter into a fake relationship. Both Chloe and Liam find it hard to open up to somebody; Chloe after what her father did and Liam because he’s famous and many people try and take advantage of him. But soon the line between fake and real gets blurred, but they both also have trust issues they need to face. Laying feelings on the line was terrifying for both of them, but the reward could be priceless…
The story is a bit predictable, as are the secondary characters, but it is a sweet read about love, trust, childhood trauma, forgiveness, being vulnerable and facing your fears. It’s a clean story which I highly appreciate. I can honestly recommend this book and I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did.
I received and reviewed an advanced copy of this book and I am grateful for this opportunity. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Does the perfect man exist? After Chloe Anderson's heart is broken from a wayward fiancé, she decides to write a novel with a main character who has all the qualities she dreams about. And it is a best-seller! When she is offered a movie contract, she can hardly believe it - then her worst nightmare occurs. The leading man is one whose character has tanked and is the last person she would pick for her movie. Liam Hamiliton is looking for redemption - in his career and personal life. But having to work with someone who is adamantly opposed to him is not what he signed up for. The PR team for the movie decides a fake relationship is just the thing to boost Liam's ratings, help Chloe's social media accounts and should be a win-win for everyone, but will it? Follow this rom com from LA to NC and find out what happens when healing takes place in the most unlikely places.

I’m a sucker for books about authors, bookstores, and of course romance, so I was immediately “all in” when I heard about Denise Hunter’s new contemporary romance, Love, Unscripted. This was the second one of her books I’ve read — I also highly recommend her other wonderful book, A Novel Proposal—yes, another great read where one of the main characters is a romance author!

Set in a small seaside town in North Carolina (beautifully described), the story features local girl Chloe, who, besides working in the family’s restaurant (along with her brother), has also written a best-selling romance novel that is being made into a movie. The male character in her book is the man of her dreams, and she’s very protective about how he will be portrayed. Enter Liam, the star who has a PR problem because of his reputation (whether or not deserved) for being a bit of a cad when it comes to dating. Chloe is determined that her main character be portrayed as she wrote him, and Liam needs some good press, so they decide to work together for each other’s best interest. Yes, you can see where this is going, and I loved going along on the journey!

I found both main characters, and many of the secondary characters, to be well-developed, multi-dimensional and very likeable. This isn’t just about the couple, but about family dynamics, both past and present. Including those moments (backstory and current relationships) really helped to understand how the two main characters were shaped by those dynamics and events, and made me like them even more. I also love books about restaurants and food, so I would have liked to have read more about Chloe's life at the family restaurant. The dialogue and banter were realistic, often humorous, and shows Ms. Hunter’s quick wit. A truly enjoyable book!

I really loved the ideas that were intertwined within this book. It felt as if it was a rom com from the very beginning. The characters were easy to follow, and the plot was perfect. Who doesn't love a book about books and movies? I will be trying more of Denise Hunter's books for sure. 📚

Love, Unscripted by Denise Hunter is a beautifully written romantic story. Chloe knows something about heart break. Rather than wallow in this, she pens an epic story that is being made into a movie. I do love the behind the scenes look at how a book is turned into the big screen. I literally laughed out loud when she found out about Liam being the leading man. That was one of the best scenes ever written. Or maybe the bikini scene? It’s hard to say. There are so many painfully laugh out loud scenes in this book. True to Hunter form though, there are also deeply emotional experiences with a perfect balance of curl your toes romance. I enjoyed the transformation of both characters and the journey they took to get there. Be prepared, once you pick up this book, you will not want to put it down. I highly recommend!

A tepid 3 stars. I've read other books by Denise Hunter and enjoyed them, but this one was very cliche'. Fake dating a celebrity? Check. Misunderstanding at 75%? Check. The writing was decent, but the story just felt very unoriginal. She's better than this. Especially with the fake dating trope. That is very overdone these days.

What do you do when your dream comes true but all the details aren't necessarily what you had envisioned? Denise Hunter's latest book features Chloe, a great daughter, supportive sister and writer. Her first book has been published, resonated with readers and is headed for the big screen. What possibly could hamper this for her? One name: Liam Hamilton, that's what or rather who. He's the actor set to play the lead male character and he's so not the guy for the job.
And so readers get an amusing and engaging story as Hunter unfolds the drama of the situation and how her characters compromise and work together to get the movie to the big screen on time.
Along the way there's falling in love, happy family moments, questions, doubts, realizations and love. Readers will love the setting and get caught up in the characters, rooting for things to work out. Definitely worth the read.
I received an ARC through NetGalley. The opinions are mine and freely given.

I felt that this book was not an original story, very clunky to read and hard to finish.
While I enjoyed the comic relief from the main characters sibling and friend, sadly this book was not for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

I’ve always loved Denise Hunter’s books. But I thought I knew where this one was headed and that I probably wouldn't love it as much as others. Well, let me tell you – I was wrong!!! It’s not that I didn't know where it was going as much as all that happened between the beginning and the end.
I loved the book and the feels it evoked. I loved learning all about filming a movie and all the many things that went into filming on location. I loved knowing that Denise has had some books turned into movies that that she knew a lot of what she was talking about from first hand experience.
I loved that Chloe was big into being honest above all with Liam. And Liam let Chloe see his real self.
This was a fun book to read. I certainly recommend it!
Thank you to Net Galley for allowing me to read this book. The opinions are entirely my own.

I enjoy Denise Hunter's books and this one did not disappoint, and we are with an author, who's book is being made into a movie.

Author Chloe Anderson's book has been chosen, and she is a little upset about whom was chosen to play the hero of her book, and Liam Hamilton is not what she wants.

This is a story of sweet romance, past broken families, and some sibling problems.

Can opposites attract? Well, maybe they really have more in common that they think?

When a betrayal appears, will these two pretend friends be able to repair the damage? Answers come, and thus the page turner!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.

When a movie adaptation is planned for Chloe Anderson's debut novel she can't believe her good fortune. Until, that is, she learns of the actor cast as leading man. He's THE Hollywood bad boy and it's up to her to help clean up his PR issues. She'll have to pretend to be his new love interest. What could go wrong?
Readers who love a fake relationship trope will want to grab a copy.. It's an easy, predictable read which is sometimes the perfect read.
3.5 stars rounded up.

I’ve loved every Denise Hunter book that I’ve read, and when I finish one, I always decide that that one is my favorite. Now Love, Unscripted is my favorite! I adored it! I don’t know about you, but I’ve had plenty of celebrity crushes. My first celebrity crush was Donny Osmond. I was five. Yes, five. Needless to say, Love, Unscripted’s heroine Chloe is living my best life. Though she didn’t have a crush on the star cast as the hero of her novel…

Love, Unscripted is just so charming and gave me all the feelings! Chloe wrote the hero in her book with the characteristics of her perfect man…as if one man could fit her mold. I think we can agree that the best heroes are flawed because that makes them real! Hunter’s characters are so well-written with lots of depth, plenty of good characteristics, and yes, definitely flaws. I could go on and on about how swoon-worthy Liam is, but you’ve got to trust me here and read it!

I just cannot say enough good stuff about this completely captivating novel! It will have you cracking up, and it will have you crying. I realize it’s early in the year, but this is going on my best novels of 2024 list! It will be hard to beat this sweet, clean, small town romance book. I highly, most ardently recommend Love, Unscripted!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.

I like the fake relationship genre, so I enjoyed this read. It was a very slow burn romance - another of my favorite reads. Seeing Liam and Chloe navigate their relationship was interesting, felt realistic and had a few twists.

The story was predictable in the best way. The twists were unique. It was great to watch them react to the unexpected things that happened.

I have read a few of Denise Hunters books before and I will continue to read her. This was my first read of this year and I am glad this is how I chose to start my year of reading.

This was another cute and fun read from Denise Hunter!
I thoroughly enjoyed this one and didn't want it to end!.
So very good!
Wonderful, captivating, and cool characters that you will love from the very beginning.
To me, there's no such perfect anyone boyfriend or not, and Liam seems to be the perfect example of not so perfect. Neither is Chloe.
Of course, eventually, they made me fall in love with both of them, and yes, they sometimes made me grin while at the same time I wanted to shake them silly.
A Hallmark movie could be made from this one in my opinion.
The cover is simply gorgeous.
Another 5 star from me for a very entertaining read. I highly recommend.

A beautiful story of forgiveness, self discovery, and learning to trust. Denise Hunter never fails to weave together a story that touches my heart. I know that picking up one of her books will make me feel all the emotions just as this book did. I found myself laughing, crying, and rooting for them to get there happily ever after.

New author Chloe Anderson can’t believe her first book is going to be a movie. That excitement is quickly dimmed when she finds out Hollywood bad boy Liam Hamilton will be playing her beloved hero in the story. After a rocky start to their working relationship, the two decide to put differences aside and work together to make sure the movie is a success. What unfolds is something neither would have predicted. They are both faced with coming to terms with their pasts and facing their futures head on.

This book is a must read! Wonderful characters and so well written that you feel as if you are living it with them. This will definitely be a book I will want to reread later on.

This was another stellar book from Denise Hunter. You can always count on Hunter to write a clean story that pulls you in & has you invested in the characters. The settings she writes are always so perfectly done. This small beach town was the perfect setting for a spring or summer novel.

The fake dating trope is one I always love to read, but this one read a little differently. It didn’t have the usual banter and annoyance between characters in fake dating. Rather, it had a slow build to a natural relationship between the main characters.

While I love fake dating in a story, I don’t love the miscommunication trope…and it doesn’t occur just once in here, but twice. It made it a little harder to root for the characters, but that could just be a personal preference.

The side character were great. I could easily see more novels, or even a novella, written about some of them.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson/Harper Collins Christian Publishing for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Be sure to check out this book in March when it releases!

I love Denise Hunter novels, and Love, Unscripted is no exception. I thoroughly enjoyed my time reading this sweet Contemporary Romance. The concept hooked me immediately — I really do love the “A-lister, uber-popular Hero falling for the Regular-Jane Heroine” plotlines. I’m a sucker for stories where the “underdog” wins and, in this case, gets her man. The characters are well crafted, as to be expected with any novel Hunter pens. I really love the dynamic between Chloe and her entire family. Chloe’s family includes her sweet-natured, but strong mother, her incredibly big-hearted, BBQ-loving step-father, and her very protective older brother, Sean. I enjoyed the illustration throughout the novel showcasing how they do family. They banter, they play, they make fun, but they also protect, love fiercely, and support in all things. They are there for each other no matter what, and this is why the family dynamic, for me, is my favorite aspect of this story. As far as the hero goes, Liam is excellent. What an all-around good guy. I really enjoyed the moments told from his perspective the best. Liam has been deeply wounded by family, but also from the whole world. The constant made-up gossip and lies spread about him made me so frustrated. Nowadays, it is the norm to believe blindly whatever MSM and influencers tells us. We have become a Society that judges before ANY evidence is brought forth, and we really love to hate. It’s totally depressing and insanely frustrating. Hunter did a really excellent job of showcasing this current-day issue via Liam’s every day life. It’s actually quite a good reminder for us readers that we should not immediately jump to judge, jury, and executioner simply based on the words of some entity or person claiming to be in the know. As far as Chloe goes, I did struggle with her character. She is a really genuine, sweet person, but she quickly jumps to conclusions without any evidence. And then she can be really mean with her words and actions. Honestly, I saw her as a cautionary tale. We really need to be careful with our assessments of others, with our words, and with our actions. Of course things end well in Love, Unscripted, but real life is not a Romance novel. In real life, our knee-jerk assessments, our careless words, and our harsh actions can cause real damage. We would all be keen to remember this!

Love, Unscripted is a story not to be missed. I loved my time with these characters, and the message to not jump to immediate conclusions will stick with me long after the final page has turned. If you are a fan of well-written, highly engaging Contemporary Romances filled with depth then you will love this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the early readers copy. I really enjoyed this story of an authors story being made in to a movie. The relationship between the author, Chloe, and her leading man , Liam, isn’t going well. So will this relationship work it’s self out? Only time will tell. But, I think you will love the story regardless of how it works out. I loved my first Denise Hunter book and I can’t wait for another story.

Love, Unscripted was a cute story! Fake dating plotline, coupled with a movie star and a best selling author. It had a little slow start but once I got into it, it picked up and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It has been a long time since I have read a Denise Hunter, but I won't let it be as long next time!

I love Denise Hunter books and always jump at the chance to read one of her romance novels. I must admit I did not enjoy this one as much as previous books that she has written but I still enjoyed it. The setting takes place in a small Southern tourist town. In her spare time Chloe writes books and the first book she wrote was approved for a movie. She was so excited about her book being made into a movie until she found out who would be playing the male lead. She did not like it that Liam had the reputation of being a ladies man in Hollywood but she accepted him anyway. Circumstances happened that they had to pretend to be girlfriend and boyfriend. It would help his reputation as a ladies man and her involvement would get her followers. The pretending soon became a reality for them.. She soon learned that he was not the ladies man that the tabloids made him out to be. I loved the supporting characters. Her best friend and her brother added some comic relief.
