Another fantastic novel from Denise Hunter! Heartwarming and fun. If you love fake-dating that turns super real, this is your book.
Chloe is an author in Stillwater Bay and lucky for her, she’s got a movie deal. They’re filming in her town. The problem is the actor cast for her hero is the exact opposite of the character and that really bugs her (and she says as much on a phone call). Liam jumps relationship to relationship and she just can’t see him playing her Mr. Perfect character of Ledger. This ultimately leads to Liam asking her to fake a relationship with him to improve his image. What happens if that fake relationship turns real? It’s a story of self-discovery, family and support systems, and, of course, romance! Coming in March 12, 2024!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance copy to read and review. All opinions are my own.

I always love Denise Hunter and this book did not disappoint. It was interesting to read how a book is turned into a movie. The love story was a bit unbelieveable but that’s why we read books-to escape reality. I definitely recommend this book!

Denise Hunter has written another lovely romance that pulls on heartstrings. with Love, Unscripted. Chloe Anderson is an author with a bestselling romance that is being made into a movie filming in her small coastal hometown in North Carolina. The most important character is the male protagonist, who has all the qualities that are important to Chloe in the perfect man. But the actor picked for the part, Liam Hamilton, is not that man because of his player reputation. The studio agreed to let the two work together to make sure that Liam gets the part down correctly while pretending that Chloe and Liam are dating. Chloe soon finds out that Liam is a much different person that she thought. This is a slow burn romance with lots of ups and downs, misunderstandings, conflicts, and hurts but develops into a sweet relationship. Both have a hurtful upbringing with scars, and this impedes things. The small tourist town atmosphere was written just right with the closeness of locals and fast-moving gossip. The characters are likable and realistic in a great setting. This is a deep story with a little bit of mystery in the background. Wonderful for those who love romance with a hint of faith.
I received a copy for the purpose of an honest review. These are my thoughts and opinions.

Sweet romance!
Stillwater, NC is about as far removed from Los Angeles, CA as two cultures could be, but when Liam is chosen to star in the film version of Chloe’s novel, their worlds collide. From the first meet-cute over a speaker phone to the end, these two manage to work their way through fake dating, all the hassle of having paparazzi dog your every move, and family complications.
This book started a bit slow for me, but picked up fast and flew. I recommend this for anyone who likes sweet, clean small town romance stories. I hope this is the beginning of another great series by Denise Hunter, I’ve enjoyed all of her prior series.
Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

With a fresh premise and unique characters and setting, Love, Unscripted was a page turner! I really enjoyed getting behind the scenes of a movie star and a movie set. Since the author has had a number of novels turned into movies, I have a feeling she did her homework. This was a fabulous read!

My Thoughts:
My second novel from Denise Hunter, and she is quickly becoming a must-read! I especially loved this clean, sweet romance. Liam was such a thoughtful gentleman despite his reputation. I also loved all the bookish talk from bookshops, author mentions, book buying. It was all done well. I really enjoy Denise's writing, especially the way she writes dialog. Everything just flowed so well, making it a quick and easy read. I did get a little aggravated with Chloe for jumping to conclusions so quickly with Liam and not giving him a chance to explain. Miscommunication is not a likable troupe for me, but it was done well and was solved pretty quickly so as not to be the main focus of the story.
Thank you, NetGalley, HarperCollins Christian Publishing, and Thomas Nelson, for the opportunity to read and review this advanced copy.

I don't think Denise Hunter can do wrong. I have just enjoyed any book by Ms. Hunter that I have ever picked up and Love, Unscripted is no exception. Chloe is an author who has dreamed of one of her novels being made into a movie and now that dream is coming true. Liam is the actor in a main role in the film. Chloe suffers with trust and abandonment issues but is a true romantic. I liked Liam more than I thought I would. He is sweet, caring, sensitive, but also smart and thoughtful. Love, Unscripted is one that I could see as a movie and, even though the plot was pretty much predictable, it was a heartwarming story and I would recommend it to any reader who loves quick reads with a story that will pull you in from the beginning, loves a fake relationship storyline, and enjoys books about books and movies! Can't wait to read another Denise Hunter novel.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson, Ms. Hunter, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

Chloe Anderson has no use for smooth-talking, two-timing, handsome men. A string of stalled relationships and a bad break-up inspires her to write the perfect boyfriend into being. Ledger Ford, her fictional hero, captures the hearts of millions of readers and earns her a script and movie deal.
Even better, the movie will be filmed in her small beachside town, and she’ll act as a consultant. When things couldn’t get any better, her agent dropped a casting bomb on her. Liam Hamilton, Hollywood’s biggest smooth-talking, handsome, playboy flirt, won the role of Ledger Ford. To make matters worse, her first meeting with him ends in disaster, and an unwanted photo of their encounter ends up online.
Liam’s agent insists the only way to salvage Liam’s reputation and save his career is to manage the story. And what better story than a fake romance between devil-may-care Liam and squeaky-clean Chloe?
Liam convinces Chloe to team up with him to save the movie from the rabid tabloids and improve her social media following. Now, all she must do is fake a real romance. As they spend time together, a friendship forms—one that seems based on truth, although the entire relationship is a lie.
And the longer Chloe lives the lie, the more difficult it becomes to hide her true feelings—from herself and everyone else.
What I Loved About This Book
I loved the juxtaposition of a hometown girl and a Hollywood bad boy. Readers will relate to Chloe’s struggles with the aftereffects of her father’s choices and the burden of living a lie. Although he looks like a bad boy on the outside, Liam has a heart—one badly bruised by his parents’ choices. Although it’s the perfect beach read, Love, Unscripted isn’t a fluffy romance. Hunter crafts a believable story about two broken people searching for love, maturity, and lasting changes.

Chloe Anderson is a debut author, and the book is soon to be made into a film. Chloe doesn't trust the man who is supposed to play the leading part. She has seen the tabloids, and they don't paint him in a good light. Chloe has gone through a couple of breakups and isn't willing to trust easily,
Liam Hamilton is tired of the two year old pictures showing up in magazines, especially when the stories circulating aren't true.
When his manager suggests that a relationship with Chloe will help his acting career and the movie success, Liam makes the suggestion to Chloe about fake dating her. Time will tell if the relationship is entirely fake or might just be real.

I have found that I can always count on Denise Hunter to deliver me to a place and people who will teach me and touch my heart. Chloe and Liam's story is in no way is an exception. The locale, the cast of characters and the unique plot are delightful. I highly recommend 'Love, Unscripted.'
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Denise Hunter molds characters with real time problems, complicated backgrounds and families while letting them tell and show their own stories. I enjoy her writing very much.
Chloe Anderson has successfully published her first novel and is excitedly nervous that it has been opted for a movie and actors are being hired to play her beloved characters. She gets off to a poor start when she is deeply disappointed in the male actor contracted to play her hero.
Liam Hamilton is a bit insulted at the author's reaction to him undertaking a major part in his newest movie. He wants to prove to her that he can take on the part and do a good job. His reputation is scarred, and he needs this movie to boost his career.
I want to thank Harper Collins Christian Publishing/Thomas Nelson for my advanced reader's copy of Love Unscripted via NetGalley. This is my own personal opinion. I like Hunter's development of characters and the situations she places them in. Chloe and Liam both have serious issues that they each come to realize as they get to know one another, hatch out a plan beneficial to one another's careers then move forward to a friendship that borders on feelings that just may change everything.
I like this story very much and the secondary characters helped keep things moving along. There is a nice smattering of humor which I always appreciate. It an excellent read. There are lessons here, the first, don't believe everything that is written or said about other people.

Mark this another homerun for Denise Hunter. This story is sweet. It is modern. It is everything you want in a wholesome romance. I hope to see it air on the Great American Family channel one day. This story gets five stars from me!
It is a fast read that is easy to follow. The female protagonist, Chloe, is someone you can relate to and get behind. No cursing or spice for those who love good clean romances.
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Love, Unscripted is the newest book by best-selling romance author Denise Hunter. She writes small town, heartwarming stories that never fail to captivate the reader. Meet Chloe, who is searching for the perfect man. But since no such person exists, she creates her own and writes a novel about him. Her published book, a best seller, is being turned into a movie and brings actor Liam Hamilton into her life in a close and personal way. In order to promote the movie, the two begin a fake relationship.
Can you see where this is going? Don’t be so quick to predict the ending, for what happens is something neither of them expected. There are twists and turns that this reader never saw coming. It’s a moving page-turner with a cast of wonderful characters. Love, Unscripted is more than a love story; it is a beautiful tale of forgiveness, of letting go of the past, and of trusting again.

Denise Hunter has a way with storytelling that makes me feel connected to the characters. Chloe and Liam seem to be from two different worlds. Their hearts have experienced pain and loss. As they fake date, walls begin to crumble. Miscommunication or lack of communication plays a big role. Best friends, family, and media influence decisions. Escape to Stillwater Bay, where everyone knows you and life is down to earth, Beneath the Summer Skies. Will Liam and Chloe navigate the challenges? I think you will enjoy Love, Unscripted!

Love Unscripted, by Denise Hunter, introduces Chloe Anderson on the opening pages. Chloe’s debut novel is heading for the big screen. She cannot believe it when the actor chosen to portray the leading man in her story is all over the tabloids as a womanizer. After a photograph of Chloe and this actor, Liam Hamilton, shows up in the papers, Chloe knows she has a problem on her hands!
When Liam’s publicist suggests that they actually start “secretly” dating to temper down the gossip, Chloe cannot believe it when she agrees. When they decide to limit the number of people who know about this setup, Liam and Chloe feel like they will be able to keep their secret safe. However, it is definitely easier said than done!
How will Chloe respond when another secret she has been protecting for years suddenly comes to light? Will the fragile relationship between Chloe and Liam survive this madness? This is definitely a tale that will keep your interest until the final page!

This story is set in the coastal town of Stillwater Gap. Loved the story from the start to the finish. We meet Chloe, an author who's first book has sold amazing well and been optioned as a movie. Liam is the actor who was chosen for the male lead. Chloe has preconceived ideas about Liam and he, being a star, is used to being used by people. These two come to a truce and learn to work together. Their relational growth is fun to watch, and has some sad spots as well. We also meet her brother Sean and parents, Millie & Jerry. Bestie Meghan and some of the crew for the movie as well as the female movie lead, Daisy. Engaging story from cover to cover!
A complimentary copy was provided by Thomas Nelson via NetGalley. A review was not required and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was a decent read and I think even though there is a bit of a predictable plot and ending, it has the bones to make you feel invested in this couple. There is a fake relationship set up, a miscommunication trope and both main characters have broken family stories that they draw some of their future relationship decisions upon. After reading through about half the book, I began to wonder if this was a Christian-based novel but when I read the author has had a couple of books turned into Hallmark movies, that made more sense. This book is romantic but the only thing the reader sees is kissing. I felt the connection in the moments in which they were taking care of each other and slowly revealing pieces of themselves. The ending was a little cheesy but not unexpected given the book was following the pattern of most romance novels. MFC and MMC meet, start off on the wrong foot, connect then start to catch feelings and then there's a misunderstanding. I did feel like I could have done without the overly dramatic way the MFC responded.... give me something a little less predictable but it was fine. Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy.

Do you ever read a book, thinking that you know the ending, but every minute reading the story is a pleasure? This is that book! I loved this sweet story that had passion, sparks, conflict, and everything in between! I look forward to reading more from the author!

Another sweet, heartfelt romance novel from Denise Hunter! I have read several of her books and I have enjoyed them all, this being no exception. I am a librarian in a conservative small town, and I can easily recommend Denise's books to our patrons who love a good, clean, lighthearted romance. I love that the FMC is a novel writer, I have always liked that premise in books. Both characters were pleasant to read, and their chemistry was palpable.

This is Denise Hunter's second novel in which the main female character is a novel writer, and I love the premise. This one adds movie filming into the mix, which keeps things interesting. The fake dating trope is always cute and makes sense in the story. Hunter's books are always fun and this one was no exception. She puts in just enough depth and meaning without making them too heavy or depressing.
