This is a wonderful debut and now I know that I can count on Ms. Sweeney to lift my mood. This was charming and uplifting, and has had my attention from the beginning until the very end. Thoroughly good read.

“everything feel serious when you’re in the middle of it?”

What a FANTASTIC debut novel. I was consistently blown away by this.

It was so incredibly well done and hit most if not all the marks you’d want in a romance!

Dual POV- Forced proximity (one bed 🥰)- “Enemies” to lovers- Comedy

Hazel and Ash(er) relationship through out was so cute 🥲 between the banter in the beginning down to the steam (holy Hannah 🥵)

Hazel was the perfect FMC, she’s strong willed and knows exactly what she wants.

I absolutely loved Ash’s character as well. He was so kind and it warmed my heart how much he cares for and loves his family.

Overall, such an adorable debut novel and this won’t be the last time I read something by this author. What a treat this was! Thank you Penguin group and NetGalley!!

I liked the initial premise of this book: Hazel decides to give Ash, her ex’s best friend a ride to their town for the holiday break. She’s never been crazy about him, but he’s had feelings for her. Mix in a lot of issues due to their family dynamics and you have their story. I wanted to enjoy the book more, but for the most part it felt like their romance wasn’t really going anywhere.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

An extraordinary debut for this author!!! I loved absolutely everything about this book... the chemistry and connection between Ash and Hazel, the depth and growth of these two, the vulnerability and such realness of the story, the bantering and teasing... forced proximity, one bed (and one car), "rivals over a coffee shop chair next to an outlet" to lovers, and dual POV and brilliantly and tastefully done.

Hazel was so relatable... so relatable is was in a way both scary and healing to read. She doesn't believe in "afters," keeping people at distance to protect herself, and would rather say everything's fine than expressing how she truly feels. Ash is always thinking about others and how he can help them and feels the weight of his family's wellbeing on his shoulders due to his father's MS and being in a wheelchair and Ash the only other man in the house. I really enjoyed and admired the depth and complexity the characters.

I lost it when Ash called Hazel "Haze" the first time and every single time after. I feel so touched to have witnessed Ash and Hazel's love. I love these two so much!!! I just don't know how long I will be able to wait until get my hands on whatever the author decides to grants us with next!

Thank you so much to Penguin Group Putnam/G.P. Putnam's Sons and NetGalley for the digital arc in exchange for my honest review.

This author is new to me, and I read the book simply because the synopsis sounds interesting to me. Who doesn’t love a road trip story between two enemies?

Well, this story was BEYOND amazing. I loved every moment between Hazel and Asher. They were just too cute, and I love how he was the one to fall first (and had been falling fir her since high school).

Hazel is a boss lady and knows what she wants, but she still comes across as a very nice and respectful person. Asher is just a perfect guy who donates his time, likes talking and helping people, and loves his family. I was rooting for these two from the first moment!

The relationship between Ash and Hazel starts off with cute little bickering scenes, where you can tell Ash is trying to get under her skin so she will notice him. Next they form this adorable friendship after they get back home for the holidays. It takes a while before they act on their feeling but when they do… oh boy, you are going to be blushing and fanning yourself. Ash is that nerdy guy that knows exactly what to say to make Hazel hot and frazzled. I loved every moment of it.

This will not be the last time I read this author. This story is too good.

I loved every minute of this book!

From the quirky, playful banter of the opening scene, to Ash's large, loud, wonderful family, to Hazel & Ash's smokin' chemistry (the dart scene is all I'm saying), it ALL worked.

Sweeney's writing is beautiful, conjuring a sensual connection so real, I felt like I was IN the story - literally laughing, crying, holding my breath, and ultimately pulling for Hazel and Ash.

Hazel doesn't believe in "Afters". She prefers to just move on when something doesn't work out. Ash feels like he needs to fix things for those he loves. The tension is real. The chemistry is palpable. A road trip, a freak storm, all the messy challenges of going home...

Take Me Home is a book I can't wait to get my hands on. One I will read again and again. Like a treasured favorite movie you watch when you want to cozy up with those hard-to-reach feelings...to get to the happily ever after ending.

Hazel isn’t looking forward to driving back home to Lockett Prairie for her father’s wedding (and Christmas celebrations). Ash needs to get to Lockett Prairie as well, sooner than he planned, as his dad has a health scare. When Hazel reluctantly agrees to drive Ash, she makes him promise that nothing will change between them. Since Ash has secretly been in love with Hazel since high school, he figures nothing will change. However, as Hazel spends more time with Ash, she begins to realize there’s more to him than she had previously considered…

While I enjoyed this story overall, Hazel and Ash are both 23-years-old and, generally, I prefer love stories with older leads/more life experience. Take Me Home is a sweet story that fans of road trip/holiday/frenemy-to lovers romance will enjoy. 3.5 stars.

Thank you very much to Putnam Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.
