"You Can Trust Me" was read in one day! Immediately gripping as Mae is remembering the death of her brother in a boating accident. The first year her parents are unable to join her, her husband and best friend plan a surprise for her...a cruise. Reluctant at first, she begins to come out of her shell, until she suddenly goes missing aboard the ship.

Immediately you read the description and think you know exactly what is up here and yet I found myself entirely surprised and enjoying this read. The scene and panic her loved ones have felt so real as this twisted to an astounding finish.

This was such a quick, fast paced thriller! I loved the narrators and the multiple povs. This book had me hooked from the beginning and I did not guess the final twist. I’ve read a lot of Kiersten Modglin books and this was one of my favorites! I definitely recommend this one if you’re in a slump or just need a good, quick thriller.

This audiobook "You Can Trust Me" is read in alternating voices, which I personally love. The story mainly takes place on a ship where two couples have decided to spend the week cruising. However, during the cruise one of the women goes missing. The crew does a search and turns up nothing, but the husband doesn't accept that she's gone and begins to investigate on his own. There are twists, and turns that make it a great book, one of the best I've read in a while.

“For all evils there are two remedies – time and silence.” Alexandre Dumas

One sentence summary: A surprise cruise ship vacation goes awry leaving everyone wondering who they can trust.

WOW wow wow. This book sunk its claws into me and didn’t let go. This was a wild ride from start to finish, exactly the kind of fast-paced popcorn thriller I needed to get back into the genre. The twists were so surprising and I was shocked at the direction the book took.

If you’re looking for a short book to meet your reading goal for the year or to keep your attention as you’re prepping for the holidays, I have to recommend this one. Pick this one up if you like:

- locked room thrillers
- questioning all the characters and who you can trust
- books set on vacation/an adventure

Thanks so much to Dreamscape Media, Netgalley and the author for providing me with an advanced listening copy of this thrilling read! This is the first book I’ve read by Kiersten Modglin and it certainly won’t be my last.

This year's annual beach trip was different for Mae. Rather than visiting the place where her brother passed away, her husband and best friend surprised her with a cruise trip. The trip was going smoothly until Mae went missing. All evidence suggests that Mae intentionally disappeared. However, Mae's husband is confident that something terrible happened to her while she was on board the ship.

Kiersten Modglin, also known as "The Queen of Twists," did an excellent job with the plot of this novel. The ending was completely unexpected and highly unconventional, in parts resembling a pirate novel. Although the beginning and middle parts were somewhat tedious, the twists at the end made it worth reading. However, I must confess that this book was not my cup of tea. The ending was too sappy and romantic for my taste. Nonetheless, all the surprising elements at the end made it worth my time.

I would like to express my gratitude to NetGalley for providing me with an advanced and complimentary copy of the novel. Thank you!

When her husband and best friend surprised her with a last-minute itinerary change in the form of a couples’ cruise, Mae Barlowe had reservations, as the cruise was an eerie reminder of chilling memories from her past. Once on board the ship, strange things started to happen. Would they survive the cruise?

The start of the book had me hooked straight away! The way the scenes unfolded and the character PoVs kept me turning the pages and I flew through the entire book in half a day.

While I knew going in that this was a pop-corn thriller and I shouldn’t have expected anything too deep, the conclusion unfortunately still felt a bit too far-fetched. And once the direction of the plot was revealed, it wasn’t hard to immediately guess what the main twist was gonna be.

Having said that, the audiobook narration was great and this would make the perfect travel or beach companion that didn’t require a lot of focus.

This is the first novel by Modglin that I have read. With the seemingly effortless grace of a talented mystery writer, she imparts the strange, otherworldly atmosphere of a cruise ship vacation. It’s simultaneously confined to the physical boundaries of the ship and the islands it visits, and frighteningly limitless -- when protagonist Mae vanishes in the wee hours of an impromptu cruise with her devoted husband, her friend, and her friend’s boyfriend, fear and uncertainty grow quickly. Even before Mae vanishes, relationship and family tensions have the main characters feeling less than steady. Madglin writes believably about group dynamics between a small group of people who seem to be happy with each other, at first.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS: Unfortunately, the plot twist that happens about ¾ of the way through the novel weakened the suspense for me. Some sexual assault (groping) and humiliation occurs that may disturb some readers; personally, I wished that Mae or another character would take revenge by kicking the perpetrators in the nuts at the very least, but that doesn’t happen; women don’t have much agency in this story. Although a family secret and tragedies are part of earlier chapters of the novel, the twist and subsequent chapters felt as though they came from a different story. The plotting felt unrealistic and sketchy, the dialogue lacking in depth, and the pacing rushed. I actually stopped to check the audiobook galley that I was listening to to make sure that something had not malfunctioned. An important part of the story is missing: we learn of the unexpected villain’s fate and other occurrences in past tense. This is disappointing, because YOU CAN TRUST ME initially feels fresh, intriguing, and well paced.

Very good audio narrators! They perform the rollercoaster emotions of the story well.

Kiersten Modglin is an auto read author for me, I think I’ve nearly read all her books. Her books are always fun to read, full of surprise, delectable drama and huge twists.

You Can Trust Me focus Mae Barlowe, her husband Blake and a her best friend Florence going on a cruise to commemorate her brothers disappearance which Mae usually does with her parents. Unfortunately her parents couldn’t make it this year, so Blake and Florence surprise her with a trip.

Expect typical KMod cleverly crafted tales, lies, deception and lots of twists. I flew through this popcorn thriller and was thoroughly entertained. The full cast narration audio was fantastic.

Many thanks to @dreamscape media @keirstenmodglin and @netgalley for ALC

When two couples go on a cruise together, they have an amazing trip...until they wake up one morning and one of the women is gone without a trace.

Modglin is back with another fun and suspenseful thriller. Honestly cruise ships are the scariest place for a thriller to take place. There is nowhere to go, nowhere to hide. I loved that the ship was such a big part of the story and really complicated things. I love how Modglin writes, she leaves us little cliffhangers at the end of most chapters..very hard to put these books down.

I listened to the audio and loved how the story came to life.

I really enjoyed this one. Somewhat unbelievable at times but I don't need my thrillers to be realistic always.

Whoa! This was an amazing book! So many shocking and twisting turns, and was beautifully written. I love all of Kiersten Modglin's work and this one didn't disappoint. I listened with the audiobook and loved all the characters voices. It was easy to follow and distinguish all the characters from one another. Two couples go on a cruise together when one of the women, Mae, becomes missing. This is a story of love, mistrust, and hard pasts!! I loved being able to feel the story from different characters point of view. Very fast paced, must have, quick read!! Thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC.

This is going to be a crazy review so sit back and fasten your seatbelts! First off I started listening to this one and my Netgalley app was glitching. It wouldn't play. Someone suggested to delete the app and reinstall, BIG mistake the books that were past archive date that I had downloaded disappeared. I had started this one and I knew I liked the author, so I took a chance on using my audible credit on it. That was not a big mistake at all. This was a very good life decision. This book has you doubting people, who is responsible, but guess what you'll never guess it. Especially the last twist. My heart is still pounding!I want to talk about things in my review but I can't because those would be spoilers and you need to experience this one without spoilers. The four different narrators did a great job. Thanks for letting me experience this book, but please Netgalley work on your app some more. #YouCanTrustMe #NetGalley

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. As someone who loves going on cruises, I found this book to be fast-paced and thrilling. Almost making me more cautious when I take my next trip.

Did the characters act and say some ridiculous things...yes but neve to the point where I wanted to put the book down. This was a binge able read and I always look forward to Kiersten Modglin's books. I did find the ending to be shocking yet predicable at the same time.

You Can Trust Me by Kiersten Modglin. WHAT DID I JUST READ? This book hooked me from the first page and kept my complete attention until the last sentence. This book was wild. So many unexpected twists and turns. I had the ending COMPLETELY wrong. Loved this whole book. A super quick read because I could not stop!! Thanks NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC.

"It's always the husband...not this time. I didn't do this...you can trust me."

Ha! Never ever trust anyone in a Kiersten Modglin mystery. In her latest You Can Trust Me, Mae is shocked that her husband and best friend have surprised her with a cruise on the anniversary of her brother's death, considering he drowned on a boat trip. After their first night on the ship she was right to worry; her husband wakes up and she's not there, she's not anywhere!

I really loved all the voice actors, Laura Jennings, Kelli Tager, Susan C Hunter and #Pete Cross, who were obviously having fun with this wild chaotic ride. Everything I thought I knew was wrong and every red herring was a dive into nothingness. Truly Shocking WTF reveals. Enjoy!

I received a free copy of this audiobook from Dreamscape Media via #NetGalley for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own.

Reluctantly, Mae agrees to go on a cruise with her husband and best friend (and her boyfriend du jour). The first night proves to be more fun than Mae thought. Maybe she could relax and enjoy herself. For once. WRONG. Mae mysteriously vanishes. With limited resources, the cruise security isn’t much help. They’re in international waters with minimal phone service. Her husband doesn’t know if he should be mad that she left him or worried sick that she’s been taken or fallen overboard.

A wildly unique story. I read a lot of vacation thrillers, and this was such a complex plot, and the cruise ship added a “locked door” vibe to it as well. Bravo!

Buuuuut maybe don’t take this one *on* your cruise vacation… 😅

AND OHHHHH! What an ENDING.

While I didn’t have it pegged the whole time, as the twists were being revealed a few were quite predictable. HOWEVER there was so much emotion with the cruise ending (like, pass me a tissue and excuse me while I ugly cry) to the gut-punch twist at the end of the story (and excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the ground, Martha! 🫣😉😧)

ARC audiobook provided in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed the male/female dual narration on this story! It really helped make the characters pop and was very easy to listen to for long periods! The story was about a married woman who gets surprised with a trip on a cruise ship from her husband and best friend. Immediately within an day of getting on the ship she goes missing and the others help to figure out what could have happened to her on international waters. I really liked all the twist, especially the ending, and would definitely recommend to anyone who likes psychological thrillers and mysteries!

KMod will always be an auto buy for me!

The plot caught my interest early on. I knew when they got on the cruise ship, something was about to happen. Blake wakes up to discover Mae is missing. Is she hiding? Did she fall overboard? Did she run off with someone else?

Interesting twist I didn’t see coming. Narrators did a great job telling the story and building suspense. Every character seems guilty at one point or another. Makes you think twice about wanting to go on a cruise!

One last element of surprise snuck in at the end! Who can you really trust?
