I have zero desire to go on a cruise and this book made that zero even stronger (but that means it was really good for the book!). I listened to the audiobook for this and I’m so glad that I did. There were four narrators and it worked so well! It was a thriller, a mystery and suspenseful really wrapped together well. I will admit that half way through, I was so convinced that I knew what was happening but the twist this book took totally caught me off guard. I was sure I was going to be disappointed that I figured it out but then in slides part three. Awesome job, Kiersten! I will go as far as to say, it’s my favorite book by Kiersten Modglin so far.
Thank you to Kiersten Modglin, NetGalley and Dreamscapes Media for the ARC audiobook!

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
You Can Trust Me by Kiersten Modglin is about Mae, a woman who goes back to the same hotel on the aniversary of her brother's death every year with her family to remember him and what they lost. This year however, her parents can't make the trip, and her husband and best friend surprise her with a cruise. A couple days into the cruise Mae goes missing after a mysterious man starts asking questions about her. Now her husband and best friend are stuck on the cruise ship waiting to hear if Mae is even still alive.
This was a good short thriller novel. It was an interesting premise with a good twist at the end. You have many perspectives which added to the story, especially when you stop hearing Mae's perspective after she disappears. There was a lot of good in this novel and the characters were great but it didn't have the wow factor I was hoping for. Overall, I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to thriller lovers who want a good short read.
I listened to it as an audiobook and I think it was good that way as I got to hear the different voice actors. Their reactions and emotional cues in their voices were amazing. The voice actors did a great job with this story.

Mae Barlowe usually makes an annual trip to the beach with her parents to commemorate her brother’s mysterious disappearance. This year, her husband and her best friend surprise her with a cruise instead. At first, she is hesitant, knowing what the annual trip means to her parents, but ultimately takes the cruise and tries to enjoy herself. But before long, her husband and her friend are left trying to pick up the pieces when another disaster strikes.

This was my second Kiersten Modglin book, and once again, I was immediately booked by this story! The “locked room” feel of the cruise ship added to the tension already in the story, and the feelings of confusion and fear were palpable. Many of the characters seemed untrustworthy, but never in a million years did I see two of the major twists coming in this story! Luckily, I had the audio and was able to listen straight through, because I absolutely had to know what happened!

Thank you to Netgalley, Kiersten Modglin and Dreamscape Media for the ALC! This review will be shared to my instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly :)

Quick psychological thriller that will grab you, complete with crazy twists and turns. Some aspects seemed slightly unrealistic, but overall a quick audio book that I enjoyed!

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC- all opinions are my own

A quick and gripping psychological thriller!

Every year, Mae would travel to the beach, a sacred ritual dedicated to honoring the memory of her departed brother. However, this year would be different since her parents would be absent due to her mother's recent medical diagnosis. For support, Mae extended an invitation to her husband, her BFF, and her BFF's new beau. Unexpectedly, her BFF changed Mae's annual seaside ritual into a couples' cruise vacation, an attempt to distract Mae from her grief-stricken thoughts. Not long into their vacation, Mae disappeared without a trace.

Kiersten Modglin's novels never fail to captivate me! The gripping story had me questioning the intentions of each character, unsure of who could be trusted. Right when I thought I had it all figured out, Modglin delivered a mind-blowing twist that left me speechless. This was a must-read for fans of psychological thrillers.

*** Thank you to NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

I really loved the premise of this story—two couples go on a cruise & one woman goes missing. The first part of the story sets the scene of life on the cruise ship. As well as the two couple, the crew is introduced. It took me a bit to keep all the characters straight. Secrets come out slowly, as do the history of the characters. There was a huge build up of tension that, for me, didn’t quite match the final outcome. I found the majority of the story entertaining & binge-listened to it over a weekend.
The narrators (Pete Cross, Laura Jennings, Kelli Tager, Susan C. Hunter) did a brilliant job of bringing the main characters and their emotions to life. I could hear the stress & desperation as they sought to figure out what happened to Mae. Thanks to Dreamscape Media, NetGalley, and the author for a copy of this audiobook.

This was a super quick read that got a lot accomplished on not a lot of pages. Also, a twist that I never in a million years would have guessed!

My first book by Kiersten Modglin but it won't be my last. I enjoyed this audiobook, the narration by four different people was done very well really giving you so much more depth to the story as they really got into the parts. The story was very well written and you are kept guessing throughout with twists all the way to the end.
Every year Mae goes back to the place where her brother drowned to honor him. This year for the first time her parents don’t come and her best friend and husband have a surprise for her, they are taking a cruise. When Mae's tragedy strikes a panicked group has to figure out who they can and can't trust. And who is the mysterious stranger who seems to know one of them? The story is told by Mae, her husband, and also her friend, so you get perspective from them all. Thank you, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for this advance audio version. I do recommend this book and I think you will get more feeling and drama with the audio verses the book.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio copy of You Can Trust Me by Kiersten Modglin.

Wow. This was intense. I can’t say much about the plot here because it isn’t in the blurb but this story is around Mae, Blake, Florence, and Patton going on a cruise and something big happens. I thought (several times) that I had it figured out, but I was way wrong! Definitely a good book!!

You Can Trust Me, by Kiersten Modglin, is another tightly plotted thriller by this author, known for her epic final twists!
Two couples are on a pleasure cruise, and then one of the four disappears. The rest of the journey is all about solving the mystery of what occurred while evading the obfuscation of the captain and crew. Whle I enjoyed the bulk of the story, the final “twist” and plot wrap-up left me somewhat dissatisfied.
The audiobook’s cast of narrators is excellent—Laura Jennings, Kelli Tager, Susan Hunter and Pete Cross—and kept me avidly engaged in the story from beginning to end. I recommend this as a fast, locked-room type thriller.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the audio AC. This is my honest review.

I loved the beginning, rolled my eyes at about 80% then loved that last little bit. This was definitely a roller coaster ride for me. This story was classic Kiersten Modglin, where you are swept into a story, get invested in all the characters and think you might have figured out what is going on and then, nope, you realize you were wrong (although I did figure out the very end). This was a quick and satisfying read (except for that one part).

It's a no for me dawg.

OMG, I don't even know how to review this. 🤬

Mae Barlowe gets a surprise annual trip this year. Her BFF, Florence has an amazing idea and planned a couples cruise. Mae is not overwhelmingly excited about it, but why?

Can you love a book until the moment the pieces come together then you think, na uh, nope?!! 🖐️🙅‍♀️

You Can Trust Me and I did! I trusted EVERYONE! I really couldn't figure it out and well, I don't think you can either. I love the guessing game. I love 70-80% of this book, but the ending is terrible. Shocking, yes. But does it work? Not for me. I was so invested in these characters too, shame.

4⭐ until the 1⭐ ending

I like multiple narrators for each PoV. Usually, I'm okay with two; male and female but four is even better! Narrated by Pete Cross, Laura Jennings, Kelli Tager, and Susan C. Hunter

Thank you, Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the ALC.

Lordy Lordy Lordy. The twists kept twisting.

This book was a rollercoaster of whodunnits. And every direction i thought it was going was right until the very end and now im like… hold on a damn minute whatttt.

This was a fast paced thriller that solidified the fact that i really never wanna hop on a cruise ship. I prefer me land legs. There is so much going on in this book. I genuinely felt like I I needed a contraption to keep my jaw up off the floor.

I was given the incredible opportunity to review an audiobook ARC of this novel from dreamscape media! A huge huge thank you to them for the ability to listen to this audiobook. I thought the narrators were great. The pacing was excellent. I could comfortably listen to this at 2-2.5 speed without weird breathy moments. IYKYK. The audiobook version was fantastic!

What did I just listen to..... Wow..... Okay, the last couple of chapters are all twists, and it's not anything you see coming. This was such a good book. I'm flabbergasted with the ending, but that just shows how good of a book it was. The characters are great, and there are just enough people and hints that you think you know who or what happened to be totally thrown off. The plot is something I've never heard of, and I really enjoyed that. Overall, it is a stellar book that I think you will enjoy.

I am such a KMod stan, I devour every one of her books. I'm really good at figuring out endings but she always has some insane twist that completely blows my mind. There were a few things thrown in here that are unexpected but darn if those last few lines of the entire book don't make your jaw drop. Modglin can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes. Absolutely, without a doubt recommend giving this one a listen (or read).

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for a copy of this audiobook!

Published 6/27/23, but the audiobook releases on November 7th!

Somehow, this was my first read by Kiersten Modglin and wow, it was an enjoyable ride!

Mae and Blake set off on their yearly vacation- that sadly marks the anniversary of her brothers death. Before they start their recurring traditions, Blake and Mae’s best friend, Florence, tell her the plans have changed and they are instead going on a cruise. While out in the open sea, tragedy strikes and everyone is sent into a tailspin trying to put the clues together to solve the mystery.

The narrator in this audiobook did an amazing job with this book. The tone of her voice and even the pauses she used made it easy to follow along and enjoy the story. There are multiple points of view with a single present day timeline in this book. The story is a split into four parts, which worked well. The twists were unexpected and enjoyable while reading, though thinking about them afterward, I’m not sure how realistic they were. There were just so many big themes going on in this book! While it made for a very enjoyable story while I was listening to it, when I was done, I sat there wondering, “What just happened?” After finishing the story and thinking back on the book as a whole, I think that the story could have been a little more centered, it feels like certain topics/situations kind of came out of left field and would be perfect as the plot for another book.

I would have better believed some parts of the storyline if the main character wasn’t only 2 years old when her brother died in a boating accident. Throughout the story, the reader is supposed to believe that she has all of these vivid memories of her brother and of his death. Just very, very unrealistic to me and would be more believable if the MC was having these thoughts and memories but had been a school aged child at the time of this event.

Thanks to NetGalley for the arc audiobook!
I love Kiersten Modglin books - they are always such quick, easy, fast paced reads. This was no different! The story was easy to follow, had several twists and turns that kept me guessing along the way. I really didn’t have any ideas of what way things would go. I know some reviews say the ending was a bit much, but I felt it was an extra shocker and loved it!

This is my new Fav of KMod's books. Having just purchased and read "Do Not Open". I love this book even more!
I love her books because they are fast paced and full of suspense!
Mae & her family take a trip to the Florida beach each summer for the anniversary of her brother Danny's death. He was killed in a boating accident at a early age of 8. This year her mother's illness prevents her from making the trip, so her husband and best friend Flo plan a last minute itinerary change with a surprise cruise. Once on board the ship a mysterious handsome man starts paying attention to Mae. Flo and Mae go out for a drink one night and in the morning the wife is missing. Secrets from the past are exposed and everyone is a suspect from the husband to Flo's boyfriend.
It reminded me just a little of the book "The woman in Cabin 10", but a lot more sinister with many more shocking twist.
This is a really good suspenseful riveting read, that I highly recommend to thriller readers. The book has a few well timed twist but I was totally thrown off guard by the final twist at the end.

Another winner from KMod. Fast, fun, compelling. The twists in the story had me gasping and the last chapter had my mouth open so wide you could count my teeth.
