You Can Trust Me
by Kiersten Modglin
Narrated by Pete Cross; Laura Jennings; Kelli Tager; Susan C. Hunter

What a fun Kiersten Modglin book! You Can Trust Me is a fast-paced novel that I easily finished in one day. The twists and turns to figure out what exactly is going on and what happened to Mae just kept coming, and it sure was a fun ride. The story starts off with Mae, her husband, her BFF Florence, and Florence's boyfriend. In an annual celebration of Mae's brother who passed away in a boat accident int he same waters, Mae's husband and Florence decide to surprise her with a cruise! Strange you say? Absolutely. Nevertheless, the four of them take this cruise. Florence and Mae stay out late one night and Mae disappears. Thus begins the the total chaos of the story. Did she fall overboard? Did she slip off the ship at port? Is she still on the ship?

Just when you think you have it figured out, there's another twist that will have you rethinking everything. It's Kiersten Modglin at her best! The narration was spot on for the characters and brought them all to life.

Thank you to NetGalley, KMod, and Dreamscape Media for the chance to listen to and review this ARC!

Another awesome book by Kiersten Modglin! Even though there are some holes in the plot and some of the twists were obvious, I couldn’t put this book down. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next!

Mae’s husband and best friend surprise her with a cruise even though it was the anniversary of her brother’s drowning which also happened on a boat. While on the cruise, tragedy happens and they have to figure out what happened.

I love how fast paced this book is along with how it kept me guessing the whole time. I even enjoyed the characters even though I wasn’t sure who the antagonist was.

Thanks NetGalley and publisher for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I was excited to listen to this one as I recently discovered Kiersten Mogdlin and have been listening to her audiobooks the last few weeks. Overall, this was a good thriller: well-paced, mysterious, and with twists and turns throughout. The ending was a definite surprise, although I could sense there was something coming, but I didn't predict what actually happened! The tension built up was fantastic and you could truly feel the panic and desperation in both Blake and Florence.

I wish there had been more with Patton's role in the plot. There was some fantastic build-up with his character and then it fell flat and he kind of ceased to exist the last 30% of the book. Some sort of closure with his character would have been nice rather than just dropping off the face of the earth.

The narrators were great. I always enjoy multiple narrators, one for each character as I really think that helps bring the story to life.

If you enjoy fast-paced thrillers with lots of plot twists, I recommend this one!

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the audiobook. My review is voluntary and honest.

I was keen to check this out, I haven't read anything by the author before but have always heard her name mentioned in the thriller space.
I liked the concept of this thriller, set on a cruise, the mystery of where Mae was and quite liked the book for the first half or so.. but the twist lost me.

I wasn't a fan of the twist / ending which is a shame since I felt the beginning had such promise.
With that being said- I will still look into reading from this author again since I've heard good things.
Again, I am also grateful to have received this book for free and as an audiobook.

For the audio component I feel the voice actors did a good job.

This book left me speechless! I didn’t know what was coming next and I trusted absolutely no one until the very last page! This was truly one of the wildest books I’ve read this year!

You Can Trust Me was my first read by Kiersten Modglin, but I’d seen her books all over the gram, so I was anticipating some twists.

And she delivered. As soon as I thought I could predict what was happening, BAM. Twist. Also, I’m now terrified of going on a cruise, so thanks for that.

The final twist at the end was a bit much, but overall You Can Trust Me was a quick and thrilling read that I couldn’t put down.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for my ALC.

I’ve read a lot of mystery/thriller books. I thought, after getting into the plot, that I had the blueprint for this story pegged. Boy, was I wrong! This is a very entertaining story about Mae and Florence, two best friends, going on a cruise with the men in their lives. Mae is apprehensive about being on a boat because her brother died in a boating accident but reluctantly agrees to go. She meets a mystery man and then disappears. Florence and Blake, Mae’s husband, will stop at nothing to find her, despite Blake being suspect number one.

I really enjoyed this book! Each chapter is told from a character’s perspective, and I really love that kind of storytelling! The events continue smoothly while transitioning from person to person. Character development stemmed mainly distrust between Florence and Blake but kept me entertained. Every time I thought I had it figured out, there was a new twist over and over and over again. I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to SO much more from @KierstenModglin!

I also really liked the readings from the multiple narrators! It helped keep the story clear and easy to navigate. Thank you to @PeteCross, @LauraJennings, @KelliTager, and @SusanCHunter for excellent narration!

This isn't my first by Modglin, so I know that she's more than capable of writing a great thriller with plenty of twist and turns.
And this was no exception, it did not disappoint. I finished it in one day.
That ending... I was not expecting that at all. I just knew it was the obvious whodunnit ending but I was not even close. The narration was great, really like the multiple POV and the narrated voices to go along.

Thank you for the ARC. This was a simple book with a simple plot which was kinda unbelievable. The twist really didn't do it for me either unfortunately. I feel like this storyline was a reach. Just not my cup of tea I suppose.

I definitely found my new fave Kierstin Modglin book! I was absolutely captivated from the get-go, and the twists and turns did not disappoint! I thoroughly enjoyed the multiple POV‘s, and in true Kirsten style, the ending had me mind blown! I really should come to expect this, yet I never do and it is the best surprise, always! Thank you NetGalley, and dreamscape media for the advance listeners copy of this book!

The beginning quickly pulled me in but there was a bit of a lull in the middle but towards the end I was hooked! The twist was very nice and I thought it was a nice tidy ending. I honestly didn’t know who could be trusted. I questioned everyone.
The narrators, Pete Cross; Laura Jennings; Kelli Tager; and Susan C. Hunter performances were just fantastic. They kept me engaged throughout. They brought the characters to life and conveyed the emotions of the characters well.

Thank you to @netgalley, @dreamscapemedia, and @kierstenmodglinauthor for the opportunity to read this #advancedlistenercopy in exchange for my #honestbookreview! This suspense read is dropping November 7.

Mae Barlowe lost her brother tragically at a young age. Her family honors his memory every year on a trip on the anniversary of his death. But this year is different. Due to her mother’s failing health Mae’s parents will be unable to travel with her this year. To ease the burden of this transition for Mae,
her best friend and husband decide to surprise her with a cruise in place of their usual trip. It sounds like a dream to anyone else but to Mae it’s a painful reminder of the day she lost her brother.
The trip takes a grim turn when her husband awakens to find Mae gone. Now it’s a race against the clock to find her before it’s too late. Did Mae simply need space to think or is there a more nefarious reason behind her disappearance?

This was so wild! It had the panicked energy that reminded me of The Woman in Cabin 10 paired with sparks of Reckless Girls and it kept my heart pounding. I did predict the final twist but man was it rewarding to be right. What a twisted and crazy plot! I highly discourage you from reading this whilst on a cruise but encourage it in any other setting! This is such a great suspenseful vacation story that teaches us that you can’t truly trust many in your life.

Wow!! The twists at the end were not something I saw coming. There was a portion I was upset with the direction the book went, but then the twist came and make it ok again. Nicely done!

Part 2 of this book was a bit slow but the last 20-30% holy smokes! It flew by and also had such a fun twist. The last chapter was just so eerie and I loved it!

I'm wavering between 2 and 3 stars for You Can Trust Me by Kiersten Modglin. It's not 3 solid stars for sure but not quite that bad to be a 2. I don't read the synopsis before I read or listen to a book so I did not know what to expect. The first half felt like a "who dunnit" mystery and it was heading to be a 5 star book. I couldn't put it down! It was awesome. Then all the twists came and it went down south quickly! I was turned off. I was disappointed. It felt like another story, like another writer stepped in to finish the second half. The narrators, Pete Cross, Laura Jennings, Kelli Tager, Susan C. Hunter were all very talented.

Huge thanks to Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy of the audiobook. #Netgalley #YouCanTrustMe

Sun, sand, and secrets await on this cruise to die for.

What did I just read? This started out like an entertaining suspense story, but somewhere in the middle, it took a sharp left turn into absurdist territory. Only, not intentionally. The basic concepts, handled differently, could have led to a good story, but instead it all just felt so outlandish and unlikely- as were certain characters and their motivations. Definitely memorable at least.

Pete Cross, Laura Jennings, Kelli Tager, and Susan C. Hunter did a good job narrating the audiobook.

Thank you Kiersten Modglin, Dreamscape Media, and NetGalley for providing this ALC for review consideration. All opinions expressed are my own.
