This was beautifully done historical novel, it had everything that I was hoping for from the description. I was a strong story and shows that slavery was a dark and dangerous thing. It worked with the historical elements and I thought the characters worked well overall.

I was really excited about this book. I love a historical fiction. And this seemed to be something I would enjoy. At first I felt the voice of Faraj was clever with a foreign feel. But there was no difference in voices of character. There is some horrible editing and translation work as well. With a good developmental edit this would have been an exceptional story. But the way if reads is hard to get through and the story is slow.
