The beginning of this book really hooked me and I was sure I was in for a wild ride. And I was right! The fast changing POVs were a bit difficult to get used to at first but eventually I understood the flow. As a newbie to thrillers, the twists were so heart-pounding to read. I loved it.

Thank you so much Penguin Teen for my eARC!

I was so confused by the plot. The story was so great but terrible execution. The book could have been 10 chapters shorter than it was. I waitied the whole book to get 6 plot reveals in one story. I love a good mystery, thriller, who done it story, but this was difficult to read.

I enjoyed the author’s previous book How To Survive Your Murder that I came back for more. Some parts of this one were a little predictable, but all in all it was a great read.

From the author of How to Survive Your Murder comes a propulsive thriller about two teens who return to the site of the famous murder case that sealed their fates.

I am a sucker for a mystery set at a summer camp and this book met all my expectations. It's very well written with great characters and surprising plot twists! Highly recommended!

I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
After reading the description I had high hopes for this book and was disappointed by it. I expected more. The ideas seemed good but was executed poorly.
I like a good mystery thriller but this one was overall very predictable. Most of the “twists” I saw coming a mile away.
I did like the dual POV; it was a good way to see both Reagan and Olivia’s perspectives. I was a little confused by some of the rapid changes between each POV at the beginning, but once I got into it, that was no longer an issue. The characters overall felt flat, with no development. The love triangle was unnecessary and honestly very cringey. The flirting over oatmeal was weird. It felt like the author was trying to include it to get the “inclusive points”. A lot of the teenage monologue felt clunky and unrealistic as well. A lot of the inner monologue also made me cringe as well.
The second half was intriguing and a little suspenseful and I can see how it might appeal to some YA readers
I thank NetGalley for the ARC.

Two Sides To Every Murder is a fun and addictive YA Thriller. The story is fast paced and quick to read. I really liked the writing style and the survive the night element. I was hooked from the first page and really enjoyed the slasher at a summer camp vibes and the twists. I figured out a couple of the big plot twists, but still had a lot of fun reading this book. And ugh that last page… what an ending!

I’m calling this dual pov with flashbacks because the story is mostly told in Olivia and Reagan’s pov. Occasionally we see other characters pov, mainly during the flashbacks to the day before/night of the original Camp Lake murders.

I really liked both Olivia and Reagan as characters and the way their stories intertwined throughout the book. I also enjoyed the development they both went through in their internal character arcs.

Overall this was an enjoyable and gripping thriller. It’ll make for the perfect summer read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers Group for a copy of this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was SO fun. I picked up Danielle’s debut novel How to Survive Your Murder on a whim a few months ago with no expectations and had a blast. I was super excited to receive this arc and it did not let me down. It starts and ends with an absolute bang. Who is the Witch of Lost Lake? Summer camp horror galore, a great time from start to finish. Danielle is a certified auto-buy author.

I received a preview of this book before full editing. Its a good YA book that I wouldn't necessarily say leans towards adult YA. Kinda creepy with the whole youth camp in the background. The characters are likable, and the story moves at a good pace. I would recommend to younger teenagers.

Thank you so much to Danielle Valentine and PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group for the eARC to review. This one had me hook from the first page. It was a quick and easy mystery read that kept me hooked and wanting more. I can't recommend this book enough.

Wow wow wow! This was as fast paced as they come and I could barely turn the pages fast enough! Every time I thought I had it figured out there was a new twist or turn that threw everything off axis. Olivia’s family owns a camp with a history a murder that happened in 2008 and a killer fugitive. Reagan is determined to clear her mothers name and give them a shot at ar life not on the run. When they both find themselves at the camp at the same time it becomes clear that no one is who they say they are and all of their lives are about to change!

This was my third book by Danielle Valentine. I LOVED Delicate Condition and How to Survive your murder. Two Sides to Every Murder may be my least favorite of her books, but I was not disappointed. I love spooky camp settings.

I loved this book! The writing style was addictive from the very first page. There were plenty of twists, most of which I didn’t see coming. The character development was pretty thorough though would have been cool to see more of Andie’s side of things.. overall really enjoyed this read

I found this to be a fun, engaging YA thriller. I’m a big fan of the summer camp slasher plot line. I was sucked in right from the start. The chapters are short and the pacing is fast. The story is told through multiple POVs and flashbacks. It was a little difficult in the beginning to keep the two MFCs straight, but after a while I was able to remember who was who.

The middle third of the book started to feel a bit repetitive, but I did manage to stay engaged. A lot of cat and mouse, ie: running through the woods over and over again.

Most of the twists in the book are fairly easy to guess, but the author did manage to include a couple I didn’t expect. The ending was a bit over the top and requires from suspension of disbelief to enjoy. There’s also a bit of a cliffhanger, that I’m still a bit confused about.

Overall, this is a fun, quick, and twisty read. If you enjoy YA thrillers, then I recommend giving this one a try.

This book was very fast paced and kept me interested until the ending! The multiple POVs confused me a bit. Same with the timeline moving around. But overall I enjoyed this one.

What’s it about?
Most peoples’ births aren’t immortalized in a police report—but Olivia was born in the middle of a massacre. Seventeen years later, Olivia’s life looks pretty perfect . . . until she discovers the man she calls dad is not her biological father. Now she needs answers about her bloodline, and the only place she knows to look is the site of the Camp Lost Lake murders.
Most people don’t spend their formative years on the run with an alleged murderer—but Reagan did. In the court of public opinion, her mom was found guilty of the deaths at Camp Lost Lake, and both of them have been in hiding ever since. But Reagan believes in her mother’s innocence and is determined to clear her name.
Luckily for Olivia and Reagan, Camp Lost Lake is finally reopening, providing the perfect opportunity to find answers. But someone else is dead set on keeping the past hidden, even if it means committing murder.
Summary from The StoryGraph
Why I Started This Book
I’m always up for a murder mystery! I saw it on Netgalley, and it looked really good!
My First Thoughts
At first, I was a little confused. I was t quite following the story, but this could be because I started this book late at night and was struggling to stay awake 😂
My Rating
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
This wasn’t my favorite murder mystery ever, but it was still pretty good!! Here’s the breakdown!
What I loved
I liked the setting of the book!! Yes, an eerie camp is cliche, but I still thought it was well done!! It added to the storyline, and contributed to the horror aspect of the novel!
I loved the POVs and the “flashbacks.” The POVs made the book really interesting! Also, I loved how the little chapters that go back in time slowly reveal more and more!! Very well written!
I liked how it had you guessing until the end! It was quite mysterious, and I was all over the board on my guess for the murderer! This made it a very well-constructed mystery!!
What I Disliked
This might just be me personally, but I was slightly confused at times. This was because a lot of the characters were related, and this made it slightly hard to follow at times. Then again, this could just be me!!
Book vs. Movie
There’s so movie for this book 😦
Should You Read It?
Yeah! If you’re looking for a new murder mystery, I’d recommend this to you!! It’s a good read for anyone who likes an intriguing YA mystery! I will caution you that there is a hint of horror in this novel! I’m usually not a horror reader, and this wasn’t very scary for me!
Conclusion
Two Sides to Every Murder is a great murder mystery that has a hint of horror! I loved the POVs, the setting, and more!! While I was confused at times, the read was still enjoyable!

Two Sides to Every Murder is a fun twisty YA thriller. I read this in one day because I was so enthralled by this story. We follow two characters, Olivia, who was born the day of a massacre at Camp Lost Lake in 2008, and Reagan, whose mother is the one accused of committing the murders. Reagan is determined to clear her mother's name. When she arrives at Camp Lost Lake in present day she crosses paths with Olivia and both are thrown into a fight for their lives.

Although I think the killer was predictable, there were a few other twists and turns that I did not see coming. Overall this book was entertaining. I wouldn't recommend it for someone looking for a YA slasher though, but it's definitely a good thriller.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

This is my second book I’ve read by Danielle now. I loved this one just as much as the other one. YA thrillers have their predictable moments but overall had that shock effect for sure. I loved the dual POV!

While I thoroughly enjoyed diving into ‘Twi Sides to Every Murder’. I must admit the ending left me feeling conflicted. The journey through the pages was enthralling and a plot that kept me engaged throughout. However, as I reached the climax, I found myself wishing for a different resolution. Despite this, the overall experience of reading the book was immensely satisfying, and I would still recommend it to anyone seeking a gripping and thought-provoking read.. I really enjoyed the author’s book ‘how to survive your murder’

To say I was hooked during this story, is an understatement. It sunk it's teeth into me and never let me go. There were a lot of characters, yes. I had to take a second quite often to keep everything straight in my head. Other than that, it was a slam dunk for me. The twists and turns just kept coming. I was enthralled during some of the scenes and felt like I was there in the book with the characters. Also, can anyone ever go wrong with a summer camp thriller?
