After digging around on Goodreads about The Hampton House Mystery, I found out that it's actually part of a series and not the first book. I did read it so it can be read by itself but I think it would probably be more enjoyable read in order as most series are. I wish that fact had been made clearer because I read many reviews saying the same thing. The Hampton House Mystery definitely has Nancy Drew vibes. Specifically, the CW version. Perfect for spooky season or a rainy day. I plan to go back and start the series from beginning to get the full story.

This was a really fun read. It has mystery, romance, intrigue - it's a page turner. I think it is the second in a series but it was easy to catch up on the relationships between everyone and get the back story. This is a great middle school read, as well as an entertaining book. There is nothing graphic or over the edge but it is still an edge of your seat story. I never guessed what was going to happen or found anything trite. It was a well thought out mystery with lots of twists and turns.
I'll read more from this author.

This is a YA/Teen mystery novel. It is the newest in a series. I am in love with this. It so reminds me of Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys mash up. I am addicted to this series and I'm an adult!! So good.

I enjoyed the premise of this book, but felt that it dragged a lot especially towards the end. I usually enjoy YA books but I felt this was a little too young for me.

This book is part of an action- adventure series called the Dinswood Chronicles but I didn’t feel as though I needed to read the others in the series to know what was happening in this one to know what was going on. Much like a Nancy Drew or a Hardy Boys, we are presented with a group of teens on summer vacation when the group stumble across a new mystery to solve.

I love a feel-good, whirlwind murder mystery without a lot of risk and quite a lot of payoff. Emma, our main character, returns to the pages with her friends to help solve another mystery. This time, there is a possibly haunted house, lights in the dark, and a family that vanished in the middle of the night.

I can see this book as a Scooby Doo caper, where we are running around, hiding in the woods, and uncovering a secret plot. I had a lot of fun with it and since it does fall into the YA category, I was able to give it some grace that I may not give to an adult thriller/ suspense.

Very cute and fun and I now want to read more from the Dinswood Chronicles and further dive into the antics of Emma and her friends.

I hadn't realized this was part of a series when requesting this book, and I think I would have been better able to connect with the characters had I read this other books. I liked the characters and thought the mystery was thorough and engaging. I was invested from the first chapter when we first glimpsed the mystery. To me, it did feel like it read a bit younger than ya, and it gave me serious Scooby Doo vibes with our group of mystery solvers, and how the mystery itself played out.

I would be interested in reading the other books in the series and any future books.

First off this book is part of a series which I didn't realize at first. I had a hard time connecting to some of the characters but I think that would have been different if I had read some of the previous titles in the series. That being said it was a good mystery that kept me guessing.

This was a perfect Halloween /spooky season read. I loved all of the characters and the ominous atmosphere of the spooky house, the camping vibes, this story kept me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend it.

For readers who enjoy mystery series such as Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys, The Hampton House Mystery brings new ideas to the familiar genre. The story follows Emma, a student at Dinswood Academy, who hopes to enjoy her summer vacation at various campgrounds with her friends Martha, Sebastian, and Doug, along with Martha and Sebastian’s families. But, at their first stop, the Crosswinds Campground, the teens find themselves drawn to the mystery of the nearby Hampton House, rumored to be haunted.

While the mystery may seem simple at first, Alexander does an impeccable job weaving extra elements into the story to keep readers engaged and guessing through the final page. The reader can uncover the many layers of the mystery along with Emma, even if they have information that Emma does not immediately have. But, Alexander takes care to make sure these layers are foreshadowed with sprinkles of evidence throughout, so readers won’t feel cheated by the revelations.

Now, I will admit this is the first book in the series that I’ve read, but it is obvious that Alexander has taken time to develop the relationships between her characters. Every action the teens take toward one another obviously has history behind it, whether or not it is specifically stated in the narrative. The depth of their connections rounds out their respective characterizations, and has been crafted well enough for even someone who is new to the series to understand their four years of knowing each other.

One thing that I believe could’ve been showcased a bit better, though, are some of Emma’s characteristics that become important during certain scenes, such as her fears of cramped spaces and spiders. Given that Alexander did take the time to recap traits such as physical description before the action began, giving an extra opportunity to showcase Emma’s fears before they become important to the plot of this specific installment would allow Emma’s character to shine even further, and avoid the trap of using fears solely as a plot device, rather than being part of the whole character.

Overall, The Hampton House Mystery is a charming read that any young mystery enjoyer will love. The Hampton House Mystery will be released on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Bookshop.org on February 20th, 2024.

This was a fun YA story. I didn't realize it was part of a series but that didn't take away too much from the story, maybe a few references but I felt like everything was explained and I never felt lost.

It was a quick read with some fun twists. I enjoyed the writing style and think it's a good start for someone wanting to get into thrillers.

I really enjoyed this YA mystery! It kept me guessing right until the end.

I didn't fully connect to the characters, but then again I didn't realise this was actually part of a series - so perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first book!

I enjoyed the 4th instalment of the series. Though I wish I had read the previous ones as there was references I didn't get but it didn't take away from the story at all. I felt like my younger self again watching Scooby on Saturday morning cartoons or when I discovered my father's old set of Nancy Drew and the The Hardy Boys. It really gives the vibe of nostalgia for older readers but with a youthful vibrant twist for the new generation of sleuths. It is YA but I could see upper middle grade also reading this or any adult who loves MG or YA genres. I really felt like I was in the story right along side the cast of characters. Thank you to the author, the publishing company and Netgalley for allowing me to read this book.

It was a 3 stars for me. I think I'd have enjoyed the book a little more if I'd read the previous books in the series since it sometimes referenced to things that happened in earlier books.
I think I'm also a little too old for this book since I didn't really get into it and I didn't really seem to care about any of the characters.

I really enjoyed this YA mystery! It was definitely a page turner and kept you wanting to read more! It has some great spooky scenes too and had me on the edge of my seat at times like "what is going to happen". It had great elements about friendship, as well as, a little romance too that is blossoming along side the investigation part of the book. This book is in a series but it's definitely a stand alone. It had Nancy Drew vibes which brought me back to my childhood and loved that aspect of the book!

Aside from a bit spooky at times, it definitely was a fun cozy read!
