Thanks to William Morrow for the copy of this book!

The Book of Doors is a captivating & magical story with adventure, mystery, and a hint of romance.

Cassie works at a book store in NYC and one day, her favorite customer and sweet old man, Mr. Webber, dies suddently and leaves her a mysterious book. This book is called the Book of Doors and promises that "any door is every door."

The Book of Doors was so much more than I thought it was going to be. It was a very clever story with twists and turns that I didn't see coming, a cast of wonderful & terrible characters, and lots of magical adventure. I went in blind, and really enjoyed reading that way. This is one I'll be recommending to a lot of people!

I had high hopes for this book, but found it to be somewhat disappointing. I felt like the story wasn't fully thought out and the plot wasn't as strong as it could've been.

3.5 stars rounded down

I love the concept of this book. The protagonist, Cassie, comes into contact with the Book of Doors, a book that can open a door to anywhere. Cassie soon finds out that there are other books out there with their own magical powers that a can be wielded for good or evil. Along with her best friend, Izzy and a few friends they meet along the way, they set out to stop the villain of the book, The Woman, from using the books to generally do evil.

I thought the book had a strong plot, but it sure took a long time to set things up. It wasn't until the halfway point that things really got going and I started to enjoy the read. Some of the relationships really shine and I wish that the author would have spent more time on the relationships and the backstory of the main characters. The ending did a good job wrapping everything up and connecting all the loose ends.

Thank you NetGalley and William Morrow for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

THE BOOK OF DOORS is a superb combination of magic, suspense, and the love for books. Brown effortlessly weaves together a tale that is entertaining and heartfelt. Cassie, Drummond, and the full cast of characters come to life as their story unfolds.

From the minute I heard about this book, I wanted to read it. And luckily for me, the author delivered a spectacular narrative. The pace was just right as we moved through time and space with Cassie. It allowed such beautiful moments to be depicted between Cassie and her grandfather, Izzy, Drummond, and Mr. Webber. But with all that said, you will still get a healthy dose of action and thrills. The way the books interlace with the characters and the villains is entertaining and downright spellbinding.

THE BOOK OF DOORS is simply a phenomenal read. It gives the reader all the elements of a grand epic fairytale. Yet, it manages to make it real and perfect for an audience who loves to believe in the magic that lies within books. I loved every minute I spent within these pages.

In New York City, Cassie, a bookseller,is having fun with the magical book of doors left to her by a favorite customer. Unfortunately, along with the book comes a huge target on her back because there are all kinds of people who want to collect ALL the books because, with the books comes great power. This is a thrilling one of a kind saga and it being a debut book just blows my mind! Highly recommend! I thank Netgalley and William Morrow for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I wanted to love this book, but perhaps my expectations were set too high. The beginning held the promising note of whimsy and magic that seemed to fizzle for me at around 15%. With a storyline that had so much potential, the execution just fell flat with the characters and style for me. I normally finish my reads, but this one is a DNF for me.

Thank you to Thank you NetGalley, William Morrow and to the author for a complimentary copy of this ebook. I am leaving a voluntary review. All thoughts and ideas expressed are my own.

This was such an interesting take on magic and time travel. There is still a bit of confusion for me on the nothingness and the overall creation, but I did love how the storyline and relationships came together

I really wanted to finish this one and I ran out of time on my subscription. This had a really interesting midnight library vibe and I really enjoyed what I didn’t get rid of it.

A book about magical books. Who wouldn’t like it?
This book has magical books and time-travel. It gave me The Ten Thousand Doors of January vibes, which I loved. It has a great group of characters and an easily followed storyline. Highly recommended.

Thank you Netgalley for the review copy.

Oy. I should have loved this book. But I just can’t get into it. The writing is fine but I’m feeling off with the interactions with Cassie the FMC.

This a hard book for this mood reader. I think this is a book my husband would love and devour. But for me it was a DNF.

If you like the doors of january you would enjoy this. Fiction reader that wants a little magic this is a read that could hit the mark.

Thus book took me a long time to read. Wanted to quit many times. The first half was almost boring then it picked up in the second half. Thank you for the opportunity to read this, wish I had better things to say. It was just an ok book but glad I got through it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown released on February 13, 2024!
What a fun book! This book is full of magical realism, likeable characters, multiple POVs, and a whole lot of imagination!

This book follows Claire, who loves reading and works in a bookstore in New York City. One night, a favorite customer passes away in the bookstore and leaves her a magical book: The Book of Doors. Which begins Claire's thrilling magical adventure. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s really fantastical, and keeps you curious.
This story has action, suspense, emotions, etc!

Magic books! That was enough to hook me. But really, this was a surprisingly touching story. It took me places I didn't really expect to go emotionally.

I really, really wanted to love this one but I DNFed it. I couldn't get into it; it was just too sad and lonely to start. The potential for magic wasn't enough to keep me reading.

The Book of Doors by Gareth Brown was a fantastic adventure. I loved every minute of the journey. I can only imagine the fun I would like to have if I had a door that lead to every door. After reading this I am happily going to by myself a hard copy as this is one I will read again and again even knowing the outcome ahead of time. I feel like my second read will be even better as I find tidbits and easter eggs throughout the book.

A beautiful, heart-warming and highly entertaining debut novel. Claire loves books and works in a bookstore in New York City. One night, a favorite customer passes away in the bookstore and leaves her a magical book: The Book of Doors. So begins Claire's thrilling magical adventure. I won't say more about the story because it's better to go in blind and let the suspense roll. I am a big fan of a certain type of fantasy story and this one hit all the right spots. If you are one of those who devoured the Harry Potter series and still crave more than this one is perfect for you. I picked this at a time when I needed a break from reality and a little bit of magic to make me feel upbeat and it more than did the job. The writing is easy, the characters resonate, and the story has great pacing. What I found unique and commendable, is how the author deftly weaves together the events and characters in a non-linear timeline so that the whole thing eventually fits together seamlessly like a jigsaw puzzle. A bit like life coming full circle. There is a generous smattering of quotable quotes and life lessons as our heroine embarks on her quest to save the world. Totally recommend if you are in the mood for some light, easy magical reading which will leave you feeling warm and hopeful at the end.

Thank you NetGalley, William Morrow and Gareth Brown for the ARC.

This is a hard book to classify! It's about books, yes, but also magic/fantasy, but also a thriller, and there's a dash of romance and found family. It was a fun adventure and I was hooked from the start. I loved the world the author built. The pacing was a little funky, but I really liked how it all came together.

Many thanks to NetGalley, William Morrow, and Gareth Brown for the eARC.

We appreciated the opportunity to read the ARC for this book, but it was DNF’d. Sometimes it is hard for a man to write women or write from the female POV, and this is one of those times. Just really rough all around.

The only way I can think of to say how much I loved this book is that I bought a copy for my shelves immediately after I finished it. This will be a top book of the year.

I was obsessed with this book very early on and I stayed obsessed until the very end. This was so magical and incredible!! The writing, the story, the genre combination, the freaking characters. This book was EVERYTHING. I started out by listening to the audiobook, but switched to the ebook about halfway through so I could read it even when I wasn’t able to listen to it. And THAT is a sign that I loved this book. I didn’t want stop reading it and I’m so sad that it’s over.

I wasn’t sure what direction this book would go in, but it was better than anything I could have predicted. The twists and turns as more is revealed about these magical books had me on the edge of my seat. It was so beautifully written and the way everything circles back at the end to be connected is nothing short of incredible.

The found family where the most unlikely people come together to defeat evil?! OBSESSED!! I am a sucker for found family and the one in this book had me 🥹💞🥰🫶🏻😭

I wasn’t expecting this book to make me cry, but the last two chapters had me SOBBING to the point where I was struggling to catch my breath. And then it goes straight into the acknowledgments as if my heart wasn’t just ripped out of my chest and stomped on 🥲

This is one of those books that I wish I could erase from my memory so I can read it again for the first time. No notes. This was perfection.

Wildly imaginative and an incredible journey. If you are a book lover, this is everything you might have imagined. A world where books can take you anywhere, transfer you powers or create new fantastic illusions. Or they can be devastating and haunting as the words have been imagined. I loved reading about all of the different characters and the books.
