This was such a funny & thrilling ride of a book! I was intrigued the whole time. There were some cringy moments but over all i enjoyed it

This book was a quick and entertaining read but the plot really went off the rails for me in the last 25% or so. So many twists were thrown in I felt like I was getting whiplash and I found myself confused by an otherwise simple plot. I think the author was trying too hard to make it into a murder mystery "whodunit" at the end and could've stuck the landing better with a couple fewer twists. The writing was also tough to get through at points - kind of felt like a high schooler's first draft of a novel - particularly when the chapters transitioned into a summary of each date. Still managed to be a fun read with some laughs but I'd keep expectations low.

This is a a funny, ironic look at relationships and dating apps, throw in a serial killer and there you have it. I didn't esp like it but my students might relate to it better.

What a wild ride! I desperately wanted to help Gwen solve the question at hand. With it being a mystery, naturally my conclusions matched with the book, which made some parts seem slow. I quickly got over those lulls and am so glad I kept reading and could not put this book down.
There were some parts that weren't believable and made Gwen unlikable (not for the obvious things), but it was a fun read.
Thank you for allowing me to read this early!

I'm not typically a big fan of mysteries or thrillers, but I was intrigued by this one from the plot and the title. And now that I've finished it, I'm glad I tried it because I really enjoyed it and was completely captivated by the twists (oh, the twists!) and turns. It's told with such well-written, compelling language that had me completely hooked to keep reading and discover the mystery for myself. And the end game was in no way predictable, as a good mystery should be.

oh boy - what a fast, fun, little ride this one is. great narrator voice, interesting friends / side characters, and a killer hook. the blurb makes reference to Scream, and this book has more than one hyper-obvious Scream-ish moment throughout, and it's all in good fun. a bit of murder, a bit of mystery, and a cute puppy mixed in.

Unfortunately, I really struggled with this book. The setup and story didn’t come to fruition for me and I genuinely didn’t like any of the characters. I finished it, but reluctantly.

Think of your worst date you’ve met through a dating app. Now imagine a day after the date the police knock on your door cause the bad date is now dead. Literally.
Gwen is trying to get over her ex but swiping right on a dating app. She doesn’t expect she would end up as a person of interest in her date’s murders but that’s what happens.
This book was fun. Gwen was forward thinking enough. She wanted to help the investigation, but wasn’t too annoying about it. This book made me laugh and I thought the mystery was really good.
Thank you NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC.

This was a fun read! Gwen is a bit of a hot mess in the love department, frequently going on bad dates. On a night out celebrating her bff’s upcoming nuptials, she gets some terrible news. A guy she went on a date was with murdered. And then another one…
Gwen was an entertaining main character to follow. You couldn’t help but root for her and want her to get everything figured out.
Thanks as always to NetGalley for the ARC.

I really enjoyed this book! At first I was a little apprehensive due to some dialogue being all over the place and some characters feeling like they were acting out of character. BUT fortunately, the author proved me wrong and everything was tied together perfectly and everything felt explained in my opinion. I think Gwen as a character was a bit much sometimes due to her constant mood switches (literally sometime on the same page) and I also felt like it took her a long time to put two and two together. Overall it was a great story and I had no idea who the killer was up until it was finally revealed. Definitely recommend giving this one a read.

This is a darkly humorous murder mystery that focuses on online dating. I enjoyed the narrator's voice and the clever plot twists. This was a fast and fun read!

The blurb stating that this book is like Bridget Jones meets a Scream movie is absolutely the best way to sum it up. I was pleased to have some moments that genuinely made me laugh out loud, some moments that made me think I had everything all figured out.... and I was surprised at the end, when I realized that I didn't, in fact, have it all figured out. Overall, this book was delightful. I know it will be an easy sell, and I truly cannot wait to see what the author writes in the future.

Super fun thriller that’s super well written. The whole theme of it being a dating app serial killer works great. Thanks for the arc. 4.5

This was the by far one of the most humorous thriller I’ve run into! I enjoyed the read as it was light but kept me guessing. Gwen was a great character and she kept me engaged. The plot is unique and I loved trying to figure out what came next. Excellent writing that delivered on the premise and was enjoyable throughout.

I really loved this book and raced to finish it in two days. Gwen's voice throughout was fun, and I stayed entertained while trying to solve the mystery as well. So many great twists and turns, I would gladly recommend it to mystery lovers.
Thanks for Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review!

After a bad breakup, Gwen Turner turns to a popular dating app to help her try to get over her ex. Despite many dates (some more successful than others) and persistent warnings from her roommate, there is one thing Gwen never thought about: Anyone can be anyone on the internet.
While hosting a bachelorette party for her roommate and best friend, Sarah, Gwen quickly turns to her dating app to find a reason to leave the party that is not quite her scene. After waiting, her date never shows up. Gwen finds out he has been murdered, and quickly finds out he isn’t the only one. There is a serial killer on the loose hunting down people that Gwen has gone out on dates with.
Gwen was one of many well-formed and colorful characters, along with Detective Lyons. Parts of this book had me laughing out loud, loving the amount of comfort these characters have around each other.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the opportunity to read this advanced copy of Swiped. I highly enjoyed it, and will be recommending this book to others and looking forward to reading more books from the author.

Thank you to Gallery Books for the advanced reader copy for our show. We will reach out to L.M. Chilton for an interview for the Book Gang summer series.
Readers craving a clever modern whodunit for their summer stack will fall head-over-heels for this campy thriller.
In a world of swiping right or left to find your perfect dating match, Gwen has been on more miserable dates than she can count. As she navigates a broken heart, she also must muster joy for her best friend's upcoming nuptials.
The twist in this story, though, is that every date she goes on becomes a victim to a serial killer in their coastal English town. Perhaps she could call it a coincidence when the first guy dies, but when a second and third start are in danger, she finds herself engulfed in a living nightmare.
Is Gwen being set up by the app's algorithm, or is something more sinister at work?
This novel was SO MUCH FUN, especially as the story offers chapters for each date and where they went horribly wrong! Chilton weaves in so many red herrings and deliciously evil people that at four different points in the story, I thought I knew the culprit, but I was utterly wrong. This novel delivers on its fun comp- Scream!
This mystery will be a big summer hit and likely land in the hands of a celebrity club this summer.

I unfortunately didn't love the voice, so this wasn't for me, but that's so subjective. Fun premise though!

This book is a mystery/thriller, but I noticed right before I read it that it was also in the romance category. I went into this with some trepidation because I historically am not a fan of romance novels, but I didn’t need to worry - this is an original thriller that just happens to deal with the subject of dating.
Gwen and her longtime boyfriend, Noah, broke up, and being a younger woman, she immediately joins a dating app to “get back out there”. Get back out there she does, with some very lackluster first dates. The entire situation is quite boring for Gwen, until the men she met on the app started getting murdered. She probably would rather it had stayed boring! It seems that people with big money can pay a little extra for more exposure on this app, and Gwen may be having some troubles dating because of that…
You see, these men are being murdered in the order of their dates with Gwen, and there is also someone threatening her from a number she doesn’t know. The book flashes back to each date, and gives us glimpses into the time they had with her. Those were actually my favorite chapters, as we find out a little about each man’s personality and why they didn’t make it to a second date (aside from the dying part). Also, who is threatening Gwen? Is someone trying to set her up for these murders? She didn’t end up liking any of the guys, and a couple were total jerks, but she didn’t want to kill them.
This was a very different way of writing a murder mystery, and I liked the format a lot. When Gwen suspected that the dating app algorithm was off, she found her own hacker - who found even more damning evidence. There are a lot of hackers out there; not everything online is as it seems, of course. This is both a cautionary tale, and a fun mystery. Four stars!
(Thank you to Gallery Books, L.M. Chilton, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on May 21, 2024.)
