I love it hen history is brought to life through fiction and Bernard Cornwall has done a superb job of this in Sharpe’s Command. Set in Spain during the Napoleonic Wars, this story focuses on British General “Daddy” Hill’s successful campaign to prevent the French armies commanded by Marshall Soult and Marshall Marmont from combining to create a massive force that the British would have had difficulty fighting.
Captain Richard Sharpe of the 95th Rifle Brigade is the central character in this story and he’s certainly a determined and innovative character. I loved that his wife Teresa was a Partisan commander in her own right, while the small band of riflemen under his command was also filled with interesting characters. While Sharpe’s role in the battle to destroy Forts Napoleon and Ragusa as well s the French pontoon bridge over the Tagus River at Almaraz is entirely fictitious, it makes for page-turning reading. I am looking forward to more from Bernard Cornwall.

I always enjoy a good Sharpe story and this one didn't disappoint. I must say I haven't read them all and I am making my way through the series but couldn't pass up the opportunity to get in early and read this one.

Sharpe is at it again and as it says in the book, he is a lucky men and has survived so many battles while others have died. I love the inclusion of his wife Teresa and found the story action packed, as per normal and very entertaining.

I will continue to read the series in order and come back to this one again when the time comes. Very much enjoyed this Sharpe adventure as I always do and enjoy the historical aspects of the book as it brings the story to life a bit more.

A great read as are all of Bernard Cornwell's books.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers Australia for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

An action packed and fast paced addition to the Sharpe series. An enjoyable and easy read. Cornwell rarely disappoints.

Another great adventure by Bernard. He is such a talented storyteller. The characters seem so real. The book took me on a journey and adventure ride.

I tried, I did, but unfortunately, it wasn't for me.

There were inconsistencies, a lack of relationship development between Sharpe and Teresa, and a plot that didn't grab me.
