Ardith Law is a famous actress. Her companion of years Bill West dies in England.
Ardith has a young assistant Josh Gray.
Romance is in the air for Ardith and Josh.
I hated this book. The subject matter was not believable. Usually I enjoy her books but I can't recommend this one.
Thanks to publisher Delacorte Press and to NetGalley for the ARC.

This is about a mother and daughter who need to repair their relationship and find a way to follow their hearts. Ardith Law is a Hollywood icon radiant at 62 yrs old she is the epitome of glamour and a highly respected artist. Her success has come at a price she has a strained relationship with her daughter Morgan who still recents her Mom for putting her career before being a mother. Ardith was a single mother who lost her husband when Morgan was 7yrs old in recent years she had a relationship with fellow actor Bill West. While Bill is away in London working on a new film she hires a temporary personal assistant Josh Grey a rough around the edges persona when tragedy strikes and brings them closer together. In New York Morgan is swept off her feet by world renowned tv anchorman Ben Ryan. Until a blackmail scheme puts his career and their relationship on the line Morgan doesn’t know where to turn maybe to her mother. This is an unforgettable story of bold choices, second chances, and the hope of reconciliation. I love every book Danielle Steel has written she is my all time favorite author and recommend her to everyone.

A May-December, December-May story. Hollywood Royalty, snobby successful plastic surgeon daughter both find love-with men that they could trade with one another, but they don”t. Here love finds its home and the shenanigans began. I can’t believe how much I enjoyed this book and relationships here. This would make a great Lifetime movie and that’s not a dig, a compliment.
I’m not a huge romance story fan, but this one I thank Ms. Steele for .
Thank you NetGalley for this review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Upside Down was a good read and a page turner for me. I am a fan of most of Danielle Steel’s books that I have read. This is a story about a Mother and daughter’s relationship being messed up for years because the daughter resented her Mom growing up because she is a successful Actress and she was gone a lot and wasn’t there for her daughter much growing up. The daughter is grown up and has a successful and demanding career as a Plastic Surgeon now. She is focused on her career and not worried about finding a Man or having kids. This is a good story about mending relationships with family, loving your husband/significant other, finding love no matter your age or age difference, and trusting each other no matter what happens in your relationship, loving each other unconditionally, and not caring or worrying what others think. Of course their are some good twist and surprises in this book too. Thank you to NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, and Danielle Steel for giving me the opportunity to receive a complimentary copy of Upside Down to read. I will post this review on various other websites also.

I love Danielle Steel books, but this was not my favorite. Even though it was about starting over, it was slow moving and predictable. I hope her next one is much better!

Danielle Steel does it again in this love story of two women and the men they fell for. One is an iconic movie star and her daughter is a plastic surgeon on the other side of the US from her mother that she's been mad at for 25 years. From mother\daughter relationships to age gap romances, the author brings an incredible story to her readers.

This book was just all kinds of stupid. All of the relationships were contrived and superficial, and completely unbelievable - anything bad that could happen, did, just so there could be a bunch of drama where everyone can suffer and then overcome it and live happily ever after. I get that the overarching theme in any Danielle Steel book is living through drama and being better for it, but this one just took that so over the top my eyes rolled back in my head. It was a quick read, so there's that. But other than that, not a lot to rave about with this one.

I received an advanced copy from NetGalley and the publisher. I read Only the Brave by this author just prior to this book. This book was such a letdown compared to Only the Brave. I thought maybe that book would show a turn in her writing. I was wrong. This was back to shallow characters, completely repetitive explanations, and arrogance about. This was a real disappointment for me.

Another hit by Danielle Steel. A mother and daughter, who haven’t always been close, are both involved in unconventional relationships. The mother, Ardith, becomes involved with a much younger man after a tragedy befalls her partner. And the daughter, Morgan, becomes involved with a TV personality who is in the midst of a personal scandal. Will these relationships bring mother and daughter closer? An emotional story about heartbreaks, and new romances./relationships. Thank you for the ARC.

Fast paced read with the classic Danielle Steel style, but overall not the author's best. There is so much repetition obviously added as filler to hit a work count. I didn't care for the characters and the story was rather predictable, so I contemplated not finishing. I persevered, however, and am glad I did. I liked the relationship Ardith and Morgan are able to form in the end.

DS books are just great books that are easy to read and provide a quick escape. Upside Down is the story of Ardith and Morgan a mother daughter duo who admittedly haven’t gone to great lengths to nurture their relationship. A series of events occur and they begin to see the “other” side of each of their lives. Ardith is a Hollywood actress that has focused on her career her entire life until a tragedy happens and her life begins to shift. Morgan is a plastic surgeon living in NYC and has come to rely on herself until she meets news correspondent Ben and her life shifts as well. I have been reading her books for years and they take me back in time and I enjoy that. Ty NetGalley for the ARC all opinions are my own.

I am a big fan of Danielle Steel and always take every opportunity to read her books. When Netgalley sent me this book to review, for an honest review, it was my pleasure to give it a read. Upside Down, is a heartwarming story of starting over and healing old wounds. Two couples, both dating someone significantly younger than themselves and the age old question of does age rally matter? An Emmy award winning actress has been in a relationship for years. Ardith Law has been taking care of her companion and they are more friends than lovers. She is has resigned herself to this situation and has no complaints. When Bill West, her partner takes a role in England, she finds herself alone and she is lonely but she is ok. She has time to think about life and with a new assistant Josh, she is getting things done. While away, Bill passes away and Ardith’s world is turned upside down. This isn’t the first time she has lost a partner and she doesn’t think she will be able to handle all the things that come with death. She tries to reach out to her daughter but their relationship is strained at best and she doesn’t see her daughter helping. They are estranged because while Ardith was taking on Hollywood and acting, her daughter Morgan was left alone a lot. Her father had passed away and she never connected with her mom. She actually left the west coast and became a plastic surgeon in NY. Their worlds were totally different. Ardith digs in deep to her reserves and plans and executes a fitting funeral for her beloved Bill. Morgan comes out for the funeral only and heads back to NY right afterwards. She is cold almost and angry towards her mother. Once back in NY she tries to juggle her career and a new love interest. She doesn’t have time for her mother or old feelings. As time passes both woman fall in love with the most unexpected men. There are hiccups and that come along with these relationships but both woman seem to be able to handle themselves. Both women have never been happier.
Some of these hiccups or troubles actually help bring this mother daughter duo closer. Like most of Danielle Steels novels it is a quick, enjoyable read. Things usually work out for the best. Even if there are twists and turns the endings are worth it. If his style of writing is easy to fall back to. Sometimes this world just needs a good, happy ending.

As is typical of Steel, this is a novel about love and romance and different depictions of love, as well as the tough choices that women face when falling in love. Ardith Law is a Hollywood icon. She was married and had a daughter by another Hollywood star who died in an accident with his mistress when their daughter was 7. Morgan has held her mother’s career against her and their relationship has always been strained. At 60, Ardith has been in a long term with Bill who is also a Hollywood legend. Bill has just signed on for a new film in London and has the studio send a personal assist for Ardith while he is gone. Everyone is surprised when that assistant is Josh Gray, a 40 year old struggling actor. Morgan has been come a successful plastic surgeon in New York. Few people know her connection to Hollywood Royalty. One day TV anchorman Ben Ryan comes in for a procedure and is instantly taken by Morgan. Using all of his charm he finally convinces Morgan to go on a date with him. The twist and turns of their relationship starts automatically with the first being a 20 year age difference. Ardith and Morgan both struggle with their relationships of one dating 20 years younger and the other dating 20 years older. Upside Down is typical of Danielle Steel novels, but at the same time, it deals with contemporary issues, such as ageism, the "me too movement", mother-daughter conflict, and fear of aging.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the opportunity.

2/5 - My first Danielle Steel and I have to say, I was not impressed. This book was like reading in circles - incredibly repetitive and not overly substantive. It was written in third person (which we know I don’t love) and changed perspectives often, sometimes within the same paragraph, which I found particularly confusing. Overall the story had potential - Age gap! Fame! Mother daughter drama! - but the execution was lackluster and I probably wouldn’t have finished it if it wasn’t an ARC. Also I had the preconceived notion that Steel’s books are steamy and this definitely was not which was sort of a bummer! I’m not writing her off completely - I’ll definitely try again but am going to try to gauge reviews first!

Thank you to @netgalley and @delacortepress for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. Out now!

Ardith Law is an award winning actress, but not the best mother in the world. When her current companion, Bill West, dies suddenly on the set of his most current film, Ardith's world is turned upside down. The production company has hired an a personal assistant for Ardith while Bill is filming and he is who she depends on in the aftermath of Bill's passing.

Meanwhile, her daughter, Morgan, is a plastic surgeon in New York. She does come home for Bill's funeral, but doesn't stay longer that she needs to. As she becomes involved with the famous TV anchorman, Ben Ryan, her and her mother start to mend the hurts of the past and begin a new future with unexpected romances.

Another great story from Danielle Steel.

Ardith Law is a successful actress with a long-time partner and a happy life in California. Her daughter Morgan is a plastic surgeon in New York. They don’t have much of a relationship. When Ardith’s partner dies suddenly while on set, she turns to her new assistant Josh for support. Josh is a struggling actor who is younger than her. That support soon turns to love. On the other coast, Morgan meets an older man and falls in love hence the book title “Upside Down.” Both Ardith and Morgan come to terms with the differences in age of their new partners as they grow closer as mother and daughter. Ultimately, they both find happiness.

This quick read is engaging in entertaining, I enjoyed the evolution of the mother-daughter relationship. I think my favorite character would be Ben's daughter, Amanda & IMO, we didn't get to know her nearly well enough. Beyond that it was cookie cutter DS, repetitive, & predictable. A "good enough" book on par with DS's writing the last few years. I prefer the quality & content of the books that DS wrote when she wasn't writing 5-6 books a year🤷

Just a delightful story by Danielle Steel. The storyline was touching, and a hard to put down story.

I usually love anything by Danielle Steel but the premise for this book of two different May-December romances did not resonate with me. While it started off strong, things then ran amok and happened too fast, which was confusing. I felt it It fell flat and the characters were boring. So much promise, but I didn't care for the direction that the story took. Many thanks for the opportunity to read this book to #netgalley #daniellesteel #upsidedown. .

Danielle Steel is to be admired for the sheer volume of books she's written and published over the years. Upside Down is in keeping with her writing formula and remains a comfortable read. Ardith Law is a respected actress with an Oscar to back her up and a successful relationship with her partner in California. Her daughter, a respected plastic surgeon living in New York blames her mother for putting herself and her career ahead of their relationship which causes them to have a strained and very surface-level relationship. When Ardith's partner goes on location he has an interesting clause in his contract that Ardith receives a personal assistant while he's away. The assistant that she receives is a much younger man, yet when her partner perishes he becomes a friend and she helps him further his career with her advice. Their relationship deepens in California while her daughter is experiencing a relationship with a much older man in New York. The way they each navigate their relationships while working on developing a closer relationship makes the story relatable. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this title.
