Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the free audio book in exchange for my honest review. This is narrated by Emily Ellet who does a fantastic job with the book.

The story begins when Theresa meets Jackie in the maternity ward and they become fast friends.
Fifteen years later, Jackie haves four children and Theresa just one. They become neighbours and good friends so much so that after gaining a lot of weight from child nearing, the pair go to Get Skinny, a sort of weight watchers.

Jackie’s weight loss is as dramatic as her personality and behavior changes deep within. She is very confident in her new body and starts a torrid affair with Theresa's husband. When Theresa discovers them in the act, Theresa is found brutally murdered the next day. The murderer is revealed early on but this is far from a clear cut case.

Like many readers, I have mixed feelings about this book. It is an exceptionally written, character driven novel that centers on the mundane nature of domestic life. Its not a typical, psychological or suspenseful thriller but more of a character study of each family member, family dynamics, and the impact of the events leading up to and after the murder.

Its an unsettling read with characters that I really did not like. The amount of graphic sex was also not appealing to me. But, I did want to find out who the murderer was and how everything ended up, so there is something to be said for that.

Its a different read so if this sounds of interest, definitely check it out as the writing is fantastic.

This is OMG so intense. I couldn't stop listening even when I was super uncomfortable. We have a murder, an affair, and teens trying to cope. We have normal adult woman/mother issues.
It was relatable and also not at all relatable. I loved every word, even when I was like "too much!"
Amazing.
The narrator could not have been better. What a perfect casting for this role!
