Title: The Vacancy in Room 10
Author: Seraphina Nova Glass
Format: E-book
Genre: Mystery / Thriller
Pub date: April 9th 2024
Here is my review ⬇️
I have never read a book by this author before but I heard good things about her. I was excited to read my first book by Seraphina Nova Glass.
I really liked the pacing of the book. It was fast paced and it kept me interested throughout the book.
On a negative note, when the POV changed, I had a hard time remembering the story. Where is Cass? What is happening to Anna right now? But when I started reading, it all came back to me!
I gave this one a 4.75 ⭐ And, I will certainly read more books by this author.

This book will keep you on the edge of your seat! What a great thriller! I absolutely could not put this one down, and was constantly changing my mind on who the bad guy was! So great and one that I have already been recommending to my friends! I should mention there are some triggers-drug use, suicide, and infedelity. Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for an advanced copy of this great book in exchange for my honest review!

Anna Hartley’s world was shattered by her husband Henry’s unexpected death. Her grief was complicated by Henry’s confession to murdering someone on the day he died. Desperate for answers, Anna moved into Henry’s art studio at The Sycamores, a run-down motel that had been half-heartedly turned into apartments. As Anna got to know the tenants, she began to question whether she ever truly knew her husband at all.
I was excited to read The Vacancy in Room 10 after seeing all of the positive early reviews on Bookstagram, and it definitely lived up to the hype for me! It was fast-paced, loaded with twists and I couldn’t put it down for the life of me! The characters were my favorite part of this book. There were a lot of them, but they were quirky, distinctive and made me laugh. I couldn’t help but love them and suspect them, all at the same time. All in all, this was a fun thriller that I’d recommend adding to your TBR!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC!

My favorite from this author. The plot had so many twists that were *actually* good and not just cheap thrills for the sake of it. I can recommend the book to fans of the author and the genre.

This was interesting, just not my cup of tea. I would pick up other books by this author to be sure, this one just missed the mark for me.

I’m going to start off by saying this book is good. GREAT even, and a very easy 5 star read. But the setting? It blew me AWAY. I felt like I was at this motel/apartment complex and was sitting by the pool with the gals while the kids splashed around. Seraphina Nova Glass transported me right into the setting and it felt like I was watching a vivid movie as I was reading. Who would have thought that a simple setting such as this would play such a huge role in my love for the novel. It was absolutely perfect for this twisted psychological thriller.
This story is filled with great twists. I did NOT see them coming either. The fact that the author could successfully surprise me, a seasoned thriller reader who feels like she’s read it all, is astounding. There’re so many layers to this novel too and one would think that the alternating POVs would get confusing, but they don’t. In fact, they blend so perfectly together I never felt lost even for a second. Honestly, I think this may be one of my favorite thrillers of 2024 and I’m anxious to read the author’s backlog! Highly recommended!

Fantastic book!
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. Seraphina Nova Glass was a new author for me and I am now a big fan. This book was such a page turner.
Distraught after her husband Henry’s body washes up on the banks of the Rio Grande, Anna moves into The Sycamores, a run-down motel turned apartment building where Henry had rented a space to use as an art studio. She is determined to find out what really happened to Henry.
Meanwhile, after being dumped by her long time boyfriend and being kicked out of their mansion with no money and no job, Cass moves into The Sycamores to work as the handyman in exchange for free rent. Soon, both women’s lives are turned upside down.
I absolutely loved this book. The residents of The Sycamores were such an endearing cast of characters and I really enjoyed the relationships they built with each other. This book was full of twists and turns and I enjoyed every single one of them. Such a great book!

This was a page-turner! The author does a wonderful job developing each character and setting the scene- I felt like I was visiting the Sycamores! Great twists and turns that kept me guessing. Definitely reccomend!

I haven’t read a Seraphina Glass book before this one, but I am itching to get my hands on another one of her books. The Vacancy in Room 10 had me hooked from the very start! Glass expertly wove so many individual characters stories together- my head was spinning until the very end! This book had so many twists and turns that were not expected and kept me on my toes! Definitely a good read!!

This is fantastically written thriller. I wish I didn’t see the end coming as fast as I did but it still kept me completely immersed and I found my self thinking about this book all day.
Highly recommend

I did not get into this book at all. I tried, but the writing was really all over the place. I didn’t think the characters seemed like real people. Set up in the beginning was kind of hokey. I’ve liked other books. She’s written in the past, but I really couldn’t finish this one. I didn’t believe anything that happened.

In a shanty part of town near the Rio Grande, Henry’s last phone call to his wife is both cryptic and troubling. His death is later ruled as a suicide which quickly prompts Anna to move into the dusty art studio, in room 203 at The Sycamores, in search for answers. Cass the apartment manager, with mounting problems of her own, appears to withhold vital information further keeping Anna in the dark. But when the turn of events spirals out of control and threatens both of their lives, will they uncover the secrets behind Henry’s message or fall to their own demise?
I’m intrigued with the prospect of murder occurring in some run-down motel turned apartment out there in the slums. There is a lot of unsubstantiated rumors among the tenants and it’s the characters that truly drive this book. It initially reminded me of The Sun Down Motel but this is a domestic thriller and not a paranormal one. The socio-cultural environment is at the forefront and is well written along with its wild cast of supporting characters. I must admit I had a bit of trouble keeping up with names in the beginning and I’m not sure I understand the meaning behind the title of this book entirely. Overall, this was an enjoyable and engaging read but not quite the instant hit as I had hoped for like On a Quiet Street, by the same author.
Many thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing, Graydon House, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this title as an e-arc in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thanks Netgalley for the ARC! Unfortunately, I have really struggled getting into this book. I have started and stopped a few times before I gave up on reading. The storyline is tacky and definitely not what I’m used to from this author.

The Vacancy in Room 10 is a gripping thriller that kept me on glued to the pages from start to finish! I loved the dual point of views which helped drive the interconnecting mysteries. The characters are well crafted, you really get to see their motivations, flaws and evolving relationships. In addition to our main and supporting characters which I loved, Seraphina Nova Glass painted the apartment complex, the Sycamores, and surrounding city skillfully and really helped me be transported into the novel.. I felt like a fly on the wall, watching everything unfold in front of me. The multiple plot twists make it a definite page-turner!
Thank you to NetGalley and Grayson House for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Coming in at just over 300 pages, this is a very quick, very fun, thrilling popcorn read. This story alternates between two different POV’s: Cass and Anna.
Cass, thrown out of the house she shares with her long-term boyfriend, has nobody else to turn to and nowhere else to go. There’s a vacancy at the Sycamores—a beat up motel-turned-apartment complex—that includes free rent in exchange for some maintenance work. She takes it. What other choice does she have?
Anna, whose husband was renting an apartment at the Sycamores as an art studio, takes up residency there to find out what really happened to her husband that night that he called her before his death.
I enjoyed the writing of this book—the characters and the imagery are all very vivid—and I loved the cheap, dirty motel setting. I needed to suspend my belief quite a bit to enjoy it but I did enjoy it.

Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing, Graydon House for the ARC of this book! If Seraphina Nova Glass has only one fan, it's me. I look forward to every single novel that she writes. This was a fast-paced, interesting book that is focused on two different women - Anna and Cass. I really enjoyed the dual POVs which led to a very interesting wrap-up at the end of the novel. I will be recommending this to my friends who also enjoy thrillers!

Starting with the title, this book seems all sorts of wrong. The vacancy implies it’s a hotel, but it’s not. The room number is not 10. This isn’t even really about a vacancy in any way. For some reason these things bothered me.
The story line was drawn out. I enjoy stories told in dual perspectives. It took a while for us to understand how the two were connected. Once I got into the story, it started to click and the book became harder to put down. But some things that occurred were so incredulous. I did not figure out who the murder was in the end
The book seemed fairly well written. I’ve heard great things about the author. This is the first book I have read from her and I likely wouldn’t read another from this.
Overall: Not the best, not the worst. I wouldn’t go out of my way to recommend it. If someone is on the fence, I’d encourage it though.

✨Thank you @NetGalley and @graydonhousebooks for providing me with an Advanced Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Also thank you to @seraphinanovaglass for writing this amazing book!
✨Anna receives a rather strange phone call from her husband, Henry, that he’s done something terrible and needs to end everything. The phone dies after a loud bang, and Henry is left dead as well.
✨Anna is left picking up the pieces to her life, and after moving into the run-down Sycamores motel-turned-apartment that Henry used as his art studio, she looks for answers to his untimely death.
✨ Cass is managing The Sycamores and providing all-inclusive handyman services to the renters in exchange for her free stay. Recently kicked to the curb by her philandering husband, she has a chip on her shoulder, and goes head to head with the eclectic cast of characters the motel has to offer.
✨While Anna is getting threats and tries to dig into the secret life her husband led, and Cass faces bigger problems, they both have to realize the path they’ve chosen is a dangerous one.
✨With laugh-out-loud dark humor, and page-turning suspense, The Vacancy in Room 10 is one to watch out for! This is the second book I’ve read by Seraphina Nova Glass and it certainly won’t be my last!
✨QOTD: How far would you dig for answers if you knew your life was in danger?

The first thing I said after finishing this book: “that was dumb.”
It really was. I don’t understand the high praise this book is getting. This was my first book by this author and the thought of a guest unraveling the mystery of a creepy apartment complex was giving me vibes of The Sun Down Motel and I was really excited to pick it up.
Unfortunately, the entire thing was completely ridiculous and over the top. I could not suspend my disbelief enough to enjoy the story and I didn’t like any of the characters except Rosa. I suspected the villain almost instantly and was not happy to be proven right.
The pacing was slow as well. I had high hopes for this one but sadly it didn’t work for me.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing and Graydon House for providing this book, with my honest review below.
I had read On a Quiet Street by Seraphina Nova Glass previously and I loved it so much I was excited to read A Vacancy in Room 10 to see if it would capture some of the same elements in the style I so enjoyed. I was not disappointed. A complex thriller focused on two women, Cass and Anna, this book was unique and kept my guessing with a plot that was rich with characters and different drivers. I enjoyed the ‘supporting cast’ as well as the depth brought to Cass and Anna as we explore their lives.
This is not a popcorn thriller with a flat plot, it is a well written book that pulls you into a vivid world and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I recommend this to all readers, fans of thrillers or just good fiction.
