Honestly at first I couldn’t get into this book. However I pushed myself to continue reading and in the end I am so glad I did. It was a fantastic read.

If you took every show from the CW in the last 25 years or so and I do mean EVERY show, and meshed them all together like Cold Stone Creamery Ice cream, you would get this book.

What the H-E-L-L did I just read?
Polyamory. LGBTQIA. Demons. Angels. Vampires. Animagi. Black tar venom zombie monsters- all co-existing after a rapture.

Sam is the best part of this. I mean he’s a cat so duh.
Lots of plot holes here, ended sort of abruptly after building and building and building for 300 pages.

Not a whole lot was explained, things just sort of happened.
I hope the sequel (assuming there is one) fills in some of the holes, cause right now this thing has more than Swiss cheese, very peculiar.

I struggled with this book. It had a good premise, but came across as juvenile. There was too much information kind of chaotically fit in to the story, lots of weird sexual attraction, that didn't fit the juvenile undertones.
Lots of promise but needs some editing.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC

This was a great start to the Deviant Ascension series, it does a great job in introducing the world and the characters themselves. It had a strong concept and enjoyed going through this adventure with them. S.M. Witch has a great writing style for the genre and can’t wait for the sequel.

Did you ever wonder what exactly to expect in the afterlife? Old friends? Flames ? Maybe magic complicated by vampires? An alternate world?
There are simultaneous stories the present delightful interactions. This plot weaves fantasy and “monsters” into a compelling story.
Emily tries to solve crimes; Vampire June is friendly with Penny, a witch; Sam’s feline most times, but has befriended Aiden who is discovering his new life in hell. For every plot line there are subplots.
I read intently to keep the characters and multiple plots together; at times that wasn’t easy, but well worth the challenge.
Be forewarned: there are LGBTQ relationships.
