Another stellar book in the Bree Taggert series! Melinda Leigh's pacing is so good. I inhaled this book in one day!

I am such a fan of all of these books. This one is one of the best of the series. Bree and Matt and the gang are always good reads.

When it becomes apparent that the flu is wiping out the town one person at a time Bree's department is no exception. Down multiple deputies the last thing they need is a serial killer, but it seems that's exactly what they have and he definitely has a type.

Read this pulse pounding book. You won't want to put it down.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Bodies of young women, in various stages of decomposition are found in the woods. Sheriff Bree Taggert and her team have to find out who is dumping the bodies, and why four of the women are pregnant.

Excellent book! I love the way the plot unfolds and the team works together and finally figures out who the killer is.
It is fast paced and suspenseful.
My most favourite thing is that there is a strong female protagonist. Her partner in life accepts her as a strong woman, and supports her.
Can't wait for the next in this series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Amazing fast-paced entry in the Sheriff Bree Taggert series!

Three bodies wrapped in tarps in the woods of Randolph County. Three missing young women to identify to find the killer. Sheriff Bree Taggert has her hands full investigating the murders with half her staff down with the flu. Thankfully she has the help of Matt Flynn, a criminal investigator, and Bree’s live-in boyfriend.

The case becomes more challenging when the killer targets and threatens her family. When another young woman goes missing, Bree and Matt know they are in a race to discover the killer before he kills again.

This was a great fast-paced thriller. The story was action-packed and kept me guessing to the end. I loved that the crime story is interspersed with the Sheriff’s home life and new family. Bree is raising her sister’s children, Luke and Kayla, with help from Matt and her former Philadelphia homicide partner Dana. An excellent new entry in the series and I can’t wait for the next one!

Another excellent read in this series. The characters are all good and relatable. It's good to see them grow. Also a tricky murderer to catch, plenty of twists.

I had a great time with this book and thank full for the arc I got. I myself didn’t know this was a serie about a detective, I didn’t do my research at the start. i did think while reading this book that it could be part of series and it was. but for me it didn’t take any enjoyment away, I could still understand the story very well and Enjoyed it very much. I am a sucker for thriller books and this has an interesting plot of the murder mystery and that made it so good and for myself I didn’t see a lot of books with the same plot it reminded me more of a episode of law and order svu and criminal minds. the characters were good and had depths. Will check the authors other works and the other books in this series

This series goes from strength to strength. Before I dive into my review I want to applaud Ms Leigh for writing a strong female protagonist who is respected by her team and has a dynamic with her male love interest that is both honest and genuine. Sometimes female leads seem to have either be a ball breaker or to have the male love interest subservient in a patronising manner. Bree Taggert is justifiably the Sheriff, she is strong but allows herself to vulnerable and is in a true working and romantic partnership with her investigator in a way that doesn’t feel forced and like she is trying to teach the world a lesson. I wish more writers were able to get this balance of a feminist lead so perfectly.

"On Her Watch" by Melinda Leigh is an absolute page-turner, deserving every bit of its 5/5 stars. Book 8 in the Bree Taggert series is a testament to Leigh's storytelling prowess, and it features an amazing dynamic between Sheriff Bree Taggert and investigator Matt Flynn.
The plot grips you from the very beginning with the discovery of a chilling crime scene in the woods. As Bree and Matt work together to unravel the mystery, their partnership shines. The chemistry and cooperation between these two characters are simply electrifying, making the story all the more engaging and addictive.
As the investigation unfolds, Leigh skillfully weaves a web of suspense and danger that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The stakes are higher than ever as the killer's actions escalate, putting Bree's family and the entire community at risk.
With each twist and turn, "On Her Watch" keeps you guessing and craving more. It's a thrilling addition to the series, and it showcases the author's ability to craft complex characters and a suspenseful, gripping plot. If you're a fan of crime thrillers and well-developed characters, this book is an absolute must-read. 5/5 stars, without a doubt! While this book could be read as a stand alone I would encourage you to start at book 1 if you are new to the series, you won’t be sorry!

Thanks to Ms Leigh, the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. The only downside to receiving this ARC is it makes the time until book 9 seem even longer. A small quibble for the opportunity to jump back into the series.

Another amazing story from Melinda Leigh! This is book 8 in the Bree Taggert series and I have read and loved them all! It has been nice to watch characters evolve, for example Bree is becoming more nurturing and (GASP!) dog loving from her loner and phobic days.

Right away I was hooked as the book starts with a runaway teen under dubious circumstances. The book cuts to a new time but we don’t know how far ahead or behind we are from the runaway. This might be an oversight since I was fortunate enough to have an unedited ARC from #NetGalley. Thank you Montlake for this by the way. Two bodies are found in the woods and they pile up from there. Does Sheriff Taggert have a serial killer on the loose? Are any of the bodies the runaway, Jen, we met in the prologue?

There have been a number of hints or foreshadowing to Bree leaving the force. I know the series might be winding down but I hope that’s not the case. I like to believe women can have a strong career AND family life. The author gave Bree one line that particularly resonated with me, when Bree must work instead of being home with the kids she says “I can’t articulate how awful this feels. They need me, and I’m choosing not to be there.”. I know Bree is their aunt but as a working mom I FELT that. I appreciated this being added to the book.

On the flip side, in the last book Bree’s family was targeted, but we see her here intentionally antagonizing a potential serial killer in a press conference. I know she was likely trying to protect others by getting the killers attention but I just don’t see a family woman doing that so soon after being targeted. That one irked me a little. Overall, amazing story and I can’t wait for book #9.

I do hope they resolve Jen’s storyline though. I was disappointed with the vague conclusion regarding her story & hope it’s solidified in the final edit or in book 9

Another fabulous novel in this series. These characters are just so relatable and the mysteries are all very good. Lots of twists and a good pace. Would be ok stand alone, but better in order.

I love this series. Bree and Matt are back for another mystery. I like a little bit of sex in my books, but Melinda Leigh is the only one I'll read that doesn't have any. There is plenty of action. Suspense. I was hooked from the first page. Is there a serial killer running around her town?
Two hikers find a tarp wrapped body in the woods. When Bree and Matt start processing the scene, they find two more bodies. Each are in different stages if decomp. When they go to talk to one of the victims friend, her apartment is a mess and there's blood on the floor. Then a young mother is taken and Bree and Matt rush to find her before it's too late.

I can only say that this book is even greater in intensity and the thrill, and promising to be just as riveting as its predecessor. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
