Megan Fox's poems were surprisingly raw and vulnerable, much more than I had imagined and much more dark. I really appreciated that coming from her in her poetry debut. Her technical formation of the poetry lines could have used some fine tuning, but I am expecting that will come with future collections from her. Even though it is free form verse, there is still a flow that should be present in the poetry, and I did not see that in all of the poems in this collection. I hope Fox continues writing poetry.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author, and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I don't mind dabbling in the occasional poetry collection. But I wouldn't say it's my go-to. Same way I can't say that these poem really resonated with me. However, regardless of how I felt about them, they were very clearly an act of catharsis for Fox. Whatever therapeutic benefits she derived from expressing herself in this way are far more important than whether or not I "enjoyed" reading them.

There were several that were clever and funny, potentially reading as satire, while others that were incredibly emotional. There's undeniable vulnerability here, which I can't help but respect. That said, if there are certain topics that are triggering to you as a reader, you should consider looking into the content warnings, as many uncomfortable topics are addressed.

Beautiful, . sad, heartbreaking. . Megan Fox pours out her heart, soul and pain in her poetry. You cannot read her poetry and not be affected.
