This book truly had me guessing until the very end! I thought I had it figured out but I was way off. I really love fast paced thrillers so this book did a great job at that. It was a really fun read and I would 100% recommend to anyone who enjoys reading thrillers. I also enjoyed the dormant this book was written in, will definitely read more from this author!

This book had me intrigued right away. I enjoyed the fast paced nature and messy family dynamics but it felt like there was too much happening at time for the plot to be meaningful. While I’m not typically a fan of psychological thrillers, I found myself continuing to pick up the story to find out more about Cleo and Katrina.

Like Mother, Like Daughter kept me on the edge of my seat, at times, and rolling my eyes because of the obvious plot twists at others. I loved the mother daughter relationship bond and was intrigued with how this progressed throughout. But, I also easily predicted the background around her Mom's kidnapping and wanted more "oh snap" moments the last half of the read. While not the best by McCreight, I would recommend for someone wanting a quicker paced thriller.

I thought this was an average thriller. I loved the dual narration, as well as the mixed media. However, the secondary aspect of the pharmaceutical company really lost me. I understand the purpose of it, to move the plot along and add in the extra suspense, but it would get convoluted and confusing at points. Overall just 3 stars. Nothing great, nothing bad.

This story was amazing! The twists that just continued to come until the very end were brilliant. I never would have guessed the ending which proves how well written this was by Kimberly McCreight.

Thank you to NetGalley and Knopf, Pantheon, Vintage, and Anchor for this copy. I should have read this much sooner than I did because it’s one I’ll never forget.

I love a domestic thriller! There was such a complicated relationship with mother and daughter which added so much to this book! I also felt that the twists were twisting in this book! Recommend!

I really liked Like Mother, Like Daughter. It had me hooked early on and I couldn't foresee the twists, which is always a plus. Being able to see from two viewpoints on the same issues (overbearing mother, independent daughter) was interesting and you couldn't help but side with both while also being annoyed with them at the same time. This is my second read from Kimberly McCreight and I am definitely reading her other books when I get my hands on them.

When Cleo arrives home from NYU, she discovers broken glass, lots of blood, and one of her mom’s shoes. Kat is an attorney for a law firm, and is known as the “fix it” person in making problems go away. Cleo’s father is constantly demanding more and more money from Kat to fund his independent film. Always closer to her dad than her mom, as Cleo begins to put together the pieces in the disappearance of her mom, she begins to see her parents in a different light. And maybe she’s been misjudging them all these years.

An interesting who-done-it, as the chapters flow between Cleo and Kat, with a timeline of “4 days before”, then “3 days before”. I listened to the audio of this one, and really enjoyed it. A twisty tale that will keep you guessing. Just be aware of strong language - I honestly could have done with a bit less of that, but at times it did add to the grittiness of the situation.

’ve really enjoyed Kimberly McCreight’s books, especially A Good Marriage and Friends Like These, so I was excited to pick up Like Mother Like Daughter. While I liked parts of it, this one wasn’t my favorite of hers. The story centers on three generations of women: a rebellious teen, her tightly wound mother, and a grandmother with secrets of her own. When circumstances force them all back together, long-buried issues resurface and they’re each forced to confront the past in different ways. There are strong themes around identity, family pressure, and generational patterns, and McCreight definitely knows how to build tension in relationships. That said, I didn’t connect with the characters as much as I expected to, and the pacing dragged a bit in places. Still, McCreight’s writing is always solid and I’ll absolutely keep reading her future books. Even when one doesn’t totally land for me, there’s always something compelling in her stories. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Like Mother, Like Daughter was a great mystery/who done it. Cleo and her Mom, Katrina have a strained Mother/daughter relationship but when Katrina goes missing, Cleo will do everything she can to find the truth about what happened.

I loved the mother/daughter dynamic in the book because it was so real! The strains of being a college student, learning who you are and making mistakes all while your Mom tries to protect you in the background....That's golden! I went back and forth on the "Who" this entire book. Then when it came to the end I was pretty sure I figured it out...boy was I wrong! I love a book thay can keep me guessing and turning the pages and Kimberly McCreight delivered!

Thank you Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.

Getting home one night for dinner from NYU, Cleo finds the house a mess. Dinner is burning on the stove and in the oven, her mom's work laptop is on the floor in her office and there is glass and blood on the floor. Where is she??? Cleo phones the police and her dad, who is estranged from the mom, but Cleo is unaware of this. Cleo thinks that everything is going well. However, as the investigation unfolds, Cleo learns that her mom has a lot of secrets and enemies.

This thriller shows that relationships between mother and daughter are not always easy.

Really liked this one, love a strong woman becoming appreciated by her family. Suspenseful but without real stakes.

This book is an absolute delight with well-constructed characterization and an amazingly tense execution. The author adeptly weaves different twists simultaneously: a significant pharmacy case impacting people's lives, a ghost from the protagonist's past threatening to resurface and jeopardize her, and a husband in urgent need of money, willing to go to extremes. From the start to the end, readers can formulate theories, make guesses, piece together the puzzle, and ponder.

I couldn’t put Like Mother, Like Daughter down! Kimberly McCreight does such a great job layering mystery with emotional depth. The twists kept me guessing, but what really stuck with me was the complicated bond between mother and daughter—raw, real, and heartbreaking at times. If you like family drama with a dark, suspenseful edge, this one’s a must-read.

This book is a great, suspenseful thriller full of intriguing secrets. The dynamic between mother and daughter is fascinating. I enjoyed this novel and want to read from the author's backlist. Another lawyer turned novelist.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a digital copy. All opinions are my own.

When Cleo finds her mother Kat dead in her apartment, Cleo searches for answers. Kat has not really been the successful lawyer as Cleo thought, Kat is her firm’s fixer and as such hides a myriad of secrets. McCreight’s novel is a great psychological thriller which keep me on my toes looking for clues. This is a great beach book or a welcome escape from wherever you read. I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

This is my first book by this author. As a mom of an adult daughter, I can say the arguing and relationship interaction was well written.
There were a few parts that I felt needed better explanation, but overall I liked the story.
I'd rate it as a 3.5 stars, but will round up to a 4 star.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this ARC

I liked how unique this thriller was compared to what I normally read.

The story follows a daughter and mother with alternating POVs/timelines as the daughter tries to find her mom who went missing. They also throw in some therapy sessions and malpractice cases which was a nice touch. There were a lot of ways that this could have ended and I did find myself shocked by a few parts, but ultimately suspected who was involved before the big reveal. I wanted more from the ending which is mainly why this one didn’t get a higher rating from me, but I still enjoyed reading this!
