Really enjoyed this book. It was not what I expected, and at first the back and forth timelines were a little confusing, but the author brought it all together at the end. The ending was very unexpected and well done. Certainly a page turner.

Great characters, good strong plot line, it certainly kept me guessing! As a librarian, and book club member, I’ll recommend to people looking for a mystery, suspenseful novel. It certainly kept me guessing until the end! 5STARS

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC. I really enjoyed this read… relatable mother/daughter dynamics, a slow burn mystery and smooth alternating POV. This book kept moving and entertaining the whole way through.

This book had me hooked from the very first chapter. Katrina and her daughter Cleo have had a challenging mother-daughter relationship since Cleo was a teenager. It's been a few months since they have seen each other, and Cleo agrees to leave the NYU campus and go to their family home in Brooklyn to talk to her mother. However, when Cleo arrives, she sees that the dinner her mother has been preparing is burning, the house is in disarray, and one of her mother's shoes is lying by the door with blood on it. Cleo isn't sure what to do now, but she knows she must see her mother again.
There are many twists and turns as Cleo begins investigating what happened to her mother despite the police discouraging her from doing so. The alternating timelines are seamless, and just when you think you have something figured out, there is a new twist. It is a fast read that you don't want to end despite wanting to know what happened to Kat.

Good suspense that is solved in 3 days. A successful female lawyer, Kat, goes missing from her home and her daughter, Cleo, reports it. There are several suspects, husband, work related, childhood past, friend, etc. Book isn’t too long so easy to stay interested in story. Explicit language of daughter not needed and takes away from the book. Good read

I would say 3 1/2 stars. Story was pretty good. Lots of characters and hard to follow at times. Lots of jumping around. Ending was ok.

I really enjoyed this book, but at times I felt like I needed that extra ouch to finish. Katrina goes missing and the twists and turns seem expected.

Like Mother, Like Daughter is a very propulsive and twisty thriller. It tells the story of Kat, a high powered attorney, who goes missing from her Brooklyn brownstone and her college aged daughter, Cleo, who is trying to find out what happened to her. We learn a lot about Kat’s bad childhood and her secret job at the law firm as well as learning about her failing marriage. There are many different plot threads and lots of red herrings.
The mystery and intrigue is really fun and I really enjoyed Kat and Cleo as characters and I liked the setup of the two timelines, Kat before her disappearance and Cleo after her mom’s disappearance. Some criticisms: At points there is so much going on in the book that it’s hard to keep straight and some of the plot points end up being pretty extraneous red herrings. I found the ending to be quite abrupt and a little disappointing.
Despite this, this book is a really fun read and definitely kept me guessing until the end.
Thank you to Knopf and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Cleo is a student at NYU. She has a dinner planned with her mom at her childhood home in Brooklyn. When she arrives late, she finds food burning in the oven and no sign of her mother. Cleo then discovers her mom's shoe under the sofa and it's bloody. Cleo knows that something terrible must have happened.
Cleo has no idea what though so she starts to dig deep to find out. She learns a lot of stuff she didn't know about her mother, which helps her understand her mother more than she did.
In this book, we follow Cleo as she digs deep into her mom's personal life. She will do anything she can to find her mom.
The chapters in this book are from Cleo's version and then her mom's version of the days leading up to her disappearance.
I really enjoyed this book. I liked how we got to read from Cleo's view and her mom's. The ending took me by surprise and I didn't see it coming at all.
I'd rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.

The characterization and portrayal of the often-complicated relationship between mothers and daughters was done so well. The plot though, felt a little disjointed at times and I wasn't really sure of the purpose of the therapist transcripts throughout with their hard to read different typeface/font size.

Despite being slightly confusing at times (too many storylines?) I found myself unable to put this one down. I liked the timelines and the different narrators but do feel like there were some things that didn’t get tied up at the end.

What a thrill ride with an unexpected ending! Thoroughly enjoy a book where not only do I not know how it will end but where clues to the possibilities are so well placed that you find yourself thinking back and wondering how you didn’t put it all together.

Like Mother, Like Daughter by Kimberly McCreight is an incredibly fast paced, multiple time-line thriller that will hook you right from the start. The story takes you on so many twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end.

I wasn’t sure about this book in the beginning. I had a hard time the first third of the book. There were so many characters and storylines to keep up with, it got overwhelming and confusing. I found myself just pushing through, hoping it would all come together in the end.

Thankfully the author did bring (most of) it all together in the end. She tied up and explained (almost) everything, however, I did feel like the ending was rushed. At only 320 pages, I feel like there could have been a little bit more closure. There was one major hole in the plot that wasn’t explained and left me angry about it.

I did enjoy the book and am looking forward to reading other titles by this author.

When Cleo arrives at her mother's house for dinner after the two have been on rocky terms, she walks into an obvious crime scene. Finding out what happened to Cleo's mom is the main point of the book, but there are also two other strong plot lines taking place that turn into complete loose ends. From the beginning, there was A LOT going on in this book and i was waiting to see how it would all eventually come together... except that it really just didn't. I would have really enjoyed the plot line of the missing mother, her questionable background, and the process of finding her. The other plot lines, however, came across as meaningless distractions since they were never fully explored. This book also uses a mixed media approach with transcripts and news articles sprinkled in, which again I would have liked if the separate plot lines connected at all. I feel like a simpler and more linear approach would have been better for this novel.

"Like Mother, Like Daughter" by Kimberly McCreight is an enthralling journey through the intricacies of mother-daughter relationships, skillfully blending suspense and emotional depth. I found myself unable to put the book down, completely captivated by the finely crafted characters and the unpredictable twists of the narrative. The surprising conclusion adds an extra layer of intrigue, making it a must-read for those who appreciate a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end.

I really liked this book. The novel follows Katrina and Cleo, a mother-daughter duo with a strained relationship. Katrina is a fixer for a reputable law firm and ends up missing on a night where Cleo was going to be attending dinner and hopefully they could reconcile their differences. Once Cleo arrives to her mom’s house, she realizes there may be some sort of foul play happening due to the blood and shoe left behind. Cleo ends up taking the lead in her mother’s investigation as she feels like her father is unable to help due to his lackadaisical personality. A lot of secrets unfold in the wake of Katrina’s absence, and I was suspicious of everyone! This is a solid 4 star read for me as I loved the premise of the book, however, I thought there were a few loose ends that needed to be tied up but were not. I would recommend checking this book out!

Cleo has a strained relationship with her mother. She believes that her mother Katrina is much too controlling. Cleo wants to be trusted and treated like an adult. When she reluctantly comes home for a dinner at her mother Kat’s request, what she finds is dinner on the stove burning, blood on the floor, a single shoe and her mother is missing. Cleo quickly realizes she loves her mother and will move heaven and earth to find her. She is determined to find out who could possibly want to harm her and why. This story is told between the timelines of both Cleo and Kat. Kat’s marriage to Aiden is on the rocks. She is a professional “fixer” working on a controversial project. Truth be told she has plenty of her own secrets from childhood. As Kat’s secrets begin to emerge, we find out that Cleo has also been keeping a few secrets. Author Kimberly McCreight weaves murder, greed, drugs, affairs and corporate scandals all within the pages of this book. I’ve been seeing so much hype about this book in groups on Facebook so I was excited to have an early copy.

Then, I needed to start it twice to get into it. The story was told in non linear timelines, with multiple devices for story; recordings, journal entries which I always enjoy. However the characters fell flat. No emotional ties to either. The ending was so anticlimactic which is rare for me to say in a thriller.

The good: this book was so visual to me. I could see the story easily as a mini series.
