This was a great thriller, just what I was after. So quick reading and great suspense. Enjoyed the ending which is hard to do. I didn’t realise it was the second in a series but it read absolutely fine as a stand-alone, I’ll be checking out other books by this author. Thanks for the ARC!

I was so hooked by the story since the beginning. The narrative explores three tourists' tragic deaths, leaving only a lit match and the scent of gasoline as clues. Rileigh Bishop, an ex-police officer who is now a private investigator, teams up with a recently fired sheriff to unravel the mystery. The connection between the victims remains elusive, raising questions about the motive behind the killings.

"Fuel To The Flame" is a page-turner novel that blends elements of mystery and thriller. The race against time to catch the killer has me wanting to read the next instalment!

While I haven't had the opportunity to read the first book of the series, "Fuel To The Flame" stands strongly on its own. The narrative, characters, and the mystery ensure an engaging experience for readers, whether they're familiar with the series or entering it for the first time.

Thank you NetGalley and the author for providing this ebook in exchange for an honest review!

This is the second book in a series. Both books are available on kindle unlimited.
I'd reccomend reading both books back to back.
I really enjoyed this book. The story is well thought out, though I do find there is a smidge too much sexism for my taste.
Definitely reccomend the series.

I love this series and this one did not disappoint. Raleigh and Mitchell, the local sheriff work together to solve a series of murders in the Smoky Mountains. I loved the setting and all the characters. Great book.

Book 2 in the Rileigh Bishop series find Rileigh entangled in a nightmarish string of murders that see tourists meeting a gruesome end by fire. What starts as a simple act of goodwill, offering directions to an impatient tourist, spirals into darkness when Rileigh discovers the same individual brutally killed hours later, marked only by a lit match and the lingering scent of gasoline.

As the body count rises, with two more victims suffering a similarly tragic fate, Rileigh feels compelled to unravel the mysterious circumstances surrounding the deaths. Teaming up with the recently ousted local sheriff, Mitch, who shares her curiosity, they embark on a quest to decipher the connection between the victims. Yet, with each revelation, the puzzle becomes more intricate, leaving the burning question unanswered: why would someone deliberately set complete strangers ablaze?

In a race against time to prevent further tragedy, Rileigh and Mitch confront an additional twist – a looming meteor shower. Rileigh begins to contemplate the possibility of a connection between the deaths and this cosmic event, injecting an extra layer of complexity into the narrative. The intertwining of investigative urgency, a puzzling motive, and celestial intrigue makes this a gripping tale of suspense and unpredictability that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sterling & Stone and author Lauren Street for the opportunity to review the advance copy of this book.

Fuel to the Flame

Rileigh Bishop is a former soldier and a former police officer. Currently, she works as a private investigator in her Appalachian hometown where three tourists have been burned alive within a short amount of time. Rileigh and the former sheriff hurry to solve the case before more people die.

The unusual fast-paced plots and interesting characters make the books in this series page turners. This is the second in the series.

Fast-paced! Riveting! Suspenseful! Compelling! Complex! This book brings it ALL! It was an artful melding of twisted psychological thrills and nail-biting suspense.

*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.

I really enjoyed the first smoky mountain thriller book however this one I did not really enjoy.

It felt a bit drawn out in my opinion. I think there was some good suspenseful part however I felt like there was more sections where there was a bunch of unnecessary information.

Rileigh Bishop is an ex-police officer, who’d also served in the military, now she is a private investigator looking into some fires for an insurance company. She gives directions to an impatient tourist, visiting the smoky mountain and shortly after the tourist is smoking themselves having been doused in gasoline and set alight. When a second tourist is burnt alive the following day, it is not difficult for Rileigh to figure out “Had to be the same person both times, didn’t it? Throwing gasoline on someone and setting them on fire is a pretty specific M.O.” The Mayor Joe Rutherford wants the crimes solved quietly, as he doesn’t want to scare off any tourists.

This is a psychological crime thriller with plenty of action and twists as Rileigh with the help of Mitch, one time sheriff, tries to get to the bottom of who is torching the tourists and why.

After a slow beginning the pace picks up or should that be heats up?

This book is the second in a series but works fine as a standalone.

This was my first time reading a book by this author, and although it's a second in a series, she sums up book one well enough that you can read it as a stand alone.

It's certainly a page turner, with lots of interesting characters and back stories. A few grammatical mistakes but otherwise a solid read.
3.5 star

In the thrilling mystery novel "Fuel to the Flame" by Lauren Street, ex-police officer Rileigh Bishop finds herself embroiled in a series of horrific murders that leave tourists burned alive. What initially begins as a simple act of kindness, providing directions to an impatient tourist, quickly takes a dark turn when Rileigh discovers that the same tourist has been brutally killed just hours later, leaving behind only a lit match and the scent of gasoline as evidence.

As the body count rises with two more victims meeting a similarly tragic fate, Rileigh is compelled to delve deeper into the mysterious circumstances. Determined to uncover the connection between the victims, she joins forces with a recently fired local sheriff who shares her curiosity. However, with each piece of the puzzle they uncover, the facts become more perplexing. The burning question remains: why would someone set complete strangers on fire?

As Rileigh and the former sheriff race against the clock to prevent further deaths, an additional twist is introduced – the looming meteor shower. Mysterious as it is, Rileigh begins to wonder if there is a connection between the deaths and this celestial event, adding another layer of complexity to the narrative.

"Fuel to the Flame" takes readers on a thrilling journey as Rileigh and her partner navigate through a maze of clues, suspects, and unexpected twists. Lauren Street skillfully builds suspense and keeps readers guessing until the final pages. With its intriguing premise, compelling characters, and a backdrop of mounting tension, this gripping novel promises an enthralling blend of mystery, suspense, and a race against time. Prepare to be captivated as Rileigh fights to uncover the truth behind the gruesome murders before more innocent lives are lost.

Somebody is setting people on fire with no real rhyme or reason.. Sheriff Mitch calls on Rileigh to help with the case that will put both their lives in danger. Somehow the murders are connected to the biggest meteor shower happening very soon. Meanwhile, someone almost kills Rileigh's best friend thinking they were trapping Rileigh in a cabin then setting it on fire. This incident does not seem to be connected to the other murders. In a rush against time, Mitch, and Rileigh race to solve the cases before the arsonist has a chance to kill more people and perhaps set the forest on fire. It's an interesting premise. I wish Rileigh and Mitch would have the chance to explore their relationship, if things would just settle down in their small town.

This story was suspenseful. Liked getting to know Riley and Mitch a little more. To see their thought process’ to figure out the mystery. I just had a problem with how the characters could go from educated mountain people to backsliding into hills people with their vocabulary. I realize that this is a story set in the mountains but with it being a tourist town and having today’s conveniences the townsfolk seemed to backwoods. Thank you to NetGalley for this free copy. I’m really enjoying this Fuel To The Flame is book 2 in The Bishop Smoky Mountain series by Lauren Street.
What a story!… filled with suspense, intrigue and an exciting story with lots of crazy twists and turns. I thought the suspense was well woven throughout the book and kept me turning pages. I thought the character development was excellent.
And the writing was very well done.
I’m starting book three next Closer By The Hour and I can’t wait.

This book features a particularly terrifying set of murders and the author wastes no time in taking the reader on a fast paced journey to solve the crimes. The author writes very clearly and with plenty of detail to help the reader try to work out the solution. A very enjoyable book.

Another great story! I read the first one within a couple of days, so I was pretty excited to grab this one. It could use another round of editing for a few small typos, but otherwise super entertaining. The only thing that annoyed me was the presentation of Frank Smother’s dog that just because he was a Doberman/pit bull mix he was a violent dog that couldn’t be controlled. I have Dobermans and they are big sweet teddy bears who love people. Their entire reason for being is to please their owners. Meaning, they don’t just defy their owner’s commands. I’m so sick of people misrepresenting Dobermans like that. Other than that scene, the story was great and I’m already reading the next one! I’ve gotten quite attached to all the characters!

Huge thanks to Sterling & Stone and NetGalley for sending me this ARC for review! All of my reviews are given honestly!

Rileigh Bishop is a former police officer, now a PI. She is on a stake out, when a couple who are tourists ask for directions. A few hours later, Rileigh finds out that the man was doused in fuel and burned alive.
Two other murders of tourists take place, and Rileigh is tasked to find out if the buildings that have burned down are deliberate, to claim insurance.

Rileigh teams up with the Sheriff to investigate what is happening in the area.

I did enjoy this book, it was suspenseful, but at times I felt that I was reading a book written by a high school student writing an essay. A lot of the book needs to be polished, so to speak.
I liked the main characters, and hope that in future books, the Sheriff and Rileigh team up to solve more cases.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
