When I saw I was accepted to read an ARC of this book, I got so excited! I had not read anything by Ruth Mancini, but I had only heard great and twisty things!

Tate Kinsella, an actress that is having trouble finding work in the field, is at her flat on a Monday morning in December. She hears banging on her doors and realizes the police are there to arrest her on suspicion of murder that has taken place where she works as a temp for a French bank.
As events start to unfold, you start to realize that lies are being told from every angle, and you don’t know who to trust, till the ultimate conclusion.
The characters are very likable. The chapters are short. The story is wild. I found this book to be flawless.
By halfway, you may think you know what’s happening, but I’m telling you. You don’t. You don’t have a clue. And when all is revealed, you will be SHOCKED.

This was a thriller unlike any I’ve read in a long time, and when I say that, I mean that it’s easily one of my favorite reads of 2023.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

this is a fantastic psychological thriller! i was a little worried by the title because it reminded me of the woman in the window or on the train or wherever a woman may be, but it was so gripping. i loved the story and the characters, the writing was engaging, plus part of it was set at a christmas party, so it was a perfect seasonal read! i just wish there was a little less recapping. highly recommend!

tw: sexual abuse, grooming, suicide

thanks to netgalley and harper perennial for my advance copy of the woman on the ledge by ruth mancini. all opinions are my own.

Told in 6 parts, with a great ending! A woman falls to her death and Tate Kinsella, an actress is arrested for the woman's murder. The story unfolds with past and present. A lot of secrets are revealed with surprising twists and turns. Tate's lawyer doesn't seem to believe she is innocent.

"Why do some people just breeze through life, getting everything" Why do some people have to fight so hard just to stay sane? Just to stay alive?"

In the ending, his eyes had wandered across the courtroom from the dock toward us and landed on me, met mine. He looked at me blankly and I could read nothing there, but I wonder and wonder if there's a part of him that recognized me, is still wondering where he knows me from, who I am.

Unsettling Vibes, Lies and Revenge! 3.5 stars!

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy! This book is set to release 1/15/24

Truth, lies and revenge! Everything you could want in a thriller!

After a woman falls to her death from a rooftop terrace all eyes turn to Tate Kinsella. But why?

Well let’s see…
she was at the building when the woman fell.✅
Her story keeps changing.✅
And her motive is classic. ✅

So, what’s the problem you ask?

Well how much of Tate’s story can you really believe? What really happened on that rooftop?

A well thought out, original and cleverly crafted thriller. The author walks you down one path, but don’t get too comfortable, because everything is about to drastically change!

Think you have the whole story figured out? Not so fast!🤣

Sit back and enjoy the ride!🤓📕

Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Perennial Paperbacks

Okay, I almost gave up on The Woman on the Ledge by Ruth Mancini. I thought I had it all figured out within the first few chapters and I don’t like it when a book lets me down because I think I know what’s going to play out.

But I was wrong.

I’m so glad I didn’t give up because this book was totally unexpected and the plot was so well-crafted that I ended up loving this story.

When Tate is brought into the police station for questions about a woman’s death, it’s hard to imagine that she isn’t guilty. After all, she’s having an affair with the woman’s husband and was at the scene of the crime. What other possible explanation can there be? The way Tate explains everything, it’s almost guaranteed that she’s guilty of something. But what? And more importantly, why?

Synopsis:

Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge. Whose secrets are you keeping? And why?

A woman falls to her death from a London bank’s twenty-fifth-floor roof terrace. You’re arrested for her murder. You tell the police that you had only met the victim the previous night at your office party. She was threatening to jump down from the roof, but you had talked her down.

You’ve got nothing to do with this tragedy. You’re clearly being framed. So why do the police keep picking holes in your story? Even your lawyer doesn’t seem to believe you.

It soon becomes obvious that you’re keeping secrets. But who are you trying to protect? And why? Obsession. Intrigue. Revenge.

Get ready for one of the most twisty-turny novels you will read this year.

Really great book! I would love to see this as a movie or a series. Coming out on January 16.

This had a great overall novel, it had everything that I was hoping for. I enjoyed the mystery element overall and the characters felt like they belonged in this universe. I was engaged with the story and enjoyed how strong everything worked together. Ruth Mancini has a great writing style and the characters were written perfectly.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐞𝐭. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧.

I read a ton of thrillers, so it takes a lot to shock me, but this book did exactly that. I couldn't read fast enough to figure out where this story was going.

The premise began simply enough. A woman falls to her death from the 25th floor roof terrace of a London high rise bank. Tate, a temp at the bank, tells police that she had only met the victim the previous night at her office party. She was threatening to jump from the roof, but Tate had talked her down. But there are holes in her story, and the police arrest her. Even her lawyer appears skeptical about her recollection of events.

Tate finally decides to open up to her lawyer, and that's where this already crazy ride got even more intense. This was hands down one of the best thrillers I've read this year. The suspense, drama, revenge, and betrayal were all so well done, but at the heart of the story, there was a very sobering theme that resonated with me, and I feel sure it will with other readers as well.

A massive thank you to NetGalley and Harper Perennial for the early read. This book will publish January 16, 2024.

This wasn’t a bad book but I guess it just wasn’t for me. I was hooked for the first 40% of the book and then it started to feel too long. I felt like the story took too long to finally unravel? I will admit I wasn’t able to guess what really happened but I didn’t find it mind blowing either. The plot definitely was unique but it just wasn’t my type of thriller.

Also SPOILER.

I get maddy was gona end up dying but ….. why did she commit suicide on purpose for this entire plot to play out…. I didn’t like that bit

The topics of sexual abuse, sexual assault and grooming were heavily involved and I think the author was trying to shed light on this which was effective. But overall this wasn’t a favourite.

I cannot wait to read more of her books!! The suspense, drama, mystery, secrets, lies, obsession, revenge, insane tension, unique plot, fast pacing, twisty turn after twisty turn and a shocking 🫨 ending is what makes this a crazy ride!! I was totally hooked from the get go and did not stop reading until I finished the book! Yes, it is that SPECTACULAR!! In addition, the theme behind the story is so powerful and really deals with some impactful issues that will stay with me forever!! Everything I was hoping for and MORE!! I absolutely LOVED this book so much and cannot recommend it enough!!

Thank you to Harper Perennial for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review.
The Woman on the Ledge releases January 16, 2024

Starting strong and suspenseful, our main character Tate is arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman falls from the rooftop terrace of a 25 story building the day after her office holiday party.
Is Tate guilty? Did she previously know this woman, or were they strangers? Was it a suicide or a murder setup to look like one?

It’s hard to go into detail about this one without giving it all away as there’s clever twists and reveals scattered every so often that keep adding layers to this mystery for the reader.
Sectioned off into succinct parts with dual timelines, mixed media, and a compelling cast of female characters, I found this to be artfully crafted and well paced.

Ultimately, The Woman on the Ledge is a propulsive story about revenge, long-term trauma, and the repeated history of sexually grooming underaged girls.

A woman falls to her death from a London banks twenty-fifth-floor rooftop. One woman says she’s was there trying to talk the victim down “from the ledge” but didn’t know the victim- yet nothing with her story quite adds up. It appears as if the woman was pushed, but why?

Throughout the book, you’re taken from past to present tense, seeing things from a couple different perspectives. The storyline is very intertwined between the main characters and at times can be a bit “much”-a little confusing I suppose. Overall though, it kept my attention and did hold it for the majority of the book. The end pulled everything together nicely and I’m glad I took the chance on it.

She’s back!
I’ve been waiting for another book by Mancini for years, and this one does not disappoint. Twisty urban noir at its best -five stars.

This has the best dynamics of a book that I have read in awhile. What a talented author! When one lie becomes the truth and the truth is scattered beyond believing, how do you write such a jewel? The Woman on the Ledge is not what it appears to be with twisted twists and shocking outcomes. Do not take it as it is and without giving it away this is a psychological thriller with the purest of intent for revenge.
When Tate, keep in mind is an actress and works at a bank as a temp, shows up at an office party that she feels uncomfortable with the surroundings and decides to take a smoke break on the 25th floor terrace. She encounters Helen sitting on a ledge contemplating suicide. She convinces her to go with her for a drink.
The next day a woman has fallen from the exact terrace. Tate is arrested for her murder.
Interesting setup where even her lawyer doesn't believe her. Get ready to go forward with the story and then backward several times. I thought I lost my page on my Kindle and on repeat...Get ready....You will not forget this one!
Thank you Harper Perennial and NetGalley for this incredible ARC in exchange for my honest review.

5 not what I expected stars

Ruth Mancini, you are a winner! This book was a wonderful surprise and kept my attention throughout.

Here's what you need to know – Tate Kinsella, a want-to-be actress, is arrested for murder; her story has quite a few holes, and even her lawyer isn’t sure what to make of her client.

The crime concerns a woman who has fallen from a London building’s 25th-floor terrace. Who is the woman? Did she jump, or was she pushed?

This book is told over several parts, and I was engrossed as the author fed me bits and pieces of the story. Everyone is keeping secrets, and motives are wide-ranging.

I read this one quickly, and the pacing was spot-on. This plot may sound familiar, but it’s like nothing else I’ve read. I’m so happy to read an original psychological thriller. Highly recommended if you like this genre. Adding this author to my must-read list in the future!

Good Samaritan or Good Liar?

Tate Kinsella, an actress with just one television commercial on her resume, is now a temp at a French bank. Nobody really bothers to get to know the “temps”, so with no one to talk to at the company Christmas party, she decides to step out onto the 25th floor roof top terrace for a smoke.

It’s there that she meets “Helen” who is sitting on the ledge, apparently contemplating suicide. Tate succeeds at talking her down, and the two leave together to have a drink and talk about all that is wrong in their respective lives.

But, the next day, Tate learns that a woman has fallen from that same 25th story terrace the night prior-when she is arrested for the woman’s murder.

What really happened?!

The book opens with a prologue where Tate is speaking to her lawyer, Sarah, and the story moves forward and backward in time over six parts. The TRUTH MAY BE BENT in one part, and what ACTUALLY happened is then revealed later on.

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING is what is seems.

It’s been awhile since I have read a good PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER, and even longer since I read a great one-but this ORIGINAL gem is pretty great!

4.5 ⭐️

My first read from Ruth Mancini who will now be a new auto request author for me!

4.5 stars rounded up I have never read a Ruth Mancini book before, but after this one I will definitey be looking at her other works. This book does not disappoint.

This is one of the most twisty turny books you will read all year. Nothing is as it seems until the very last sentence. As other reviewers have said, there's not much I can say about this book without giving away the whole plot and premise. I will say that a woman falls to her death from a high building. Tate is arrested. Tate maintains that she's innocent. The writing is superb and the book pulls you in from the first page. The characters are extremely well done and they're all interesting. Just when you have a handle on what you think you know, everything changes. The plot is very unique and different.

I simply can say read this book. It's that good. Thank you o Harper Perennial and Paperbacks and Netgalley for this ARC. I greatly appreciate it and highly , oh so highly, recommend this book.
