I really enjoyed reading this book and i definitely learnt a lot about drawing different kinds of snacks, desserts, drinks and other food.
This book shows tips on how to draw different types of snacks and coloring the food.
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in drawing food and can be done by beginners as well.

I love books like this. They are easy to follow and help you draw the cutest images. I have a couple other books in this style, but they did not have the food aspect. It was such a fun idea to have all the meals in the Kawaii style. Loved it!

I think the book is adorable and great for learning to drW cute doodles. I will say if for the younger crowd it may be a bit tough. But drawing is all about practicing. Think overall, anyone at any skill level would enjoy this Kawaii Doodle book.

A super cute drawing book for beginners. Lots of fun food based items for the budding artist to try out.

The book goes through a surprisingly comprehensive set of food drawings! It goes through each food in 4-6 steps - you draw basic shapes and rub out the bits you don't need. Watch out for the sections - cutlery and basic (and not-so-basic) fruit are covered at the end of the book!

I requested this because I wanted to learn to draw cute things - sadly I don't think my drawing skills are ready. Although the steps are logical, there's no explanation of shading - so you'll need some knowledge of shading, especially as the shapes get more complicated.

I'd say it's a book for a younger artist who already has knowledge, but wants to focus on café food rather than someone with basic or advanced drawing skills.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced ebook copy in exchange for an honest review.

The illustrations in this book are soo cute! I've seen Faith Varvara's art on social media so I was pleasantly surprised to see this tutorial style book! Faith Varvara has crafted really easy to follow along steps to create adorable styled sweet and savory foods. I'm looking forward to decorating some postcards with this cute art! And I'm curious about the other books in the Kawaii Doodle series.

Thank you so much to the publisher to read and review this book. This book is one that I feel is great for drawing simple but cute items especially food. It was also divided into 4 or 5 different steps that were easy to understand which I also appreciated. I highly recommend. 4 out of 5 stars.

Useful but with some improvable things.

The cute, well-presented, and thoughtful "Kawaii Doogle Café by artist Faith Varvara is a good book to learn some basic ways of drawing desserts, foods, and drinks.
The book opens with a nice presentation from the artist and some tips to keep in mind while creating your art. Then the drawing lessons get divided into eight sections... which is a LOT and in each section you get also a bunch of items to draw yourself!

But here is the thing, this was one of my main issues. I felt like the format of the book was sometimes too rigid in its structure.
For example, we get the tableware section from pages 121 to 133. In there, we learn a basic way to draw glasses but on page 42 (Cakes, Pies & Desserts) we have the Panna Cotta tutorial, which uses that same glass design we learn later on. The first step we have is "Start by drawing de Glass (page 127)", so you have to flip towards the end of the book and then back for a design that it's quite simple on itself (you only have to draw some basic lines to create de dessert inside the other item....).
Wouldn't be better to bend the structure in order of usefulness and coherence?

This topic brings me to my next issue: The art felt a little stale on the tutorials.
Yeah, Varvara's art is cute and full of life, but it didn't translate so well to the step-by-step lessons. The creation itself without the coloring result seems to lack life. And that's something I experienced with my approach to these lessons too. My results would be okay but boring, at least until I get some watercolor brushes and get creative.

My last issue was de coloring pages and their uncreative approach: The final pages have some coloring doddles we learn through the book, but they are not presented in any artistic way or even different way from before.
I would have loved for Varvara to use those pages to show us the full potential of the little lessons we have learned and inspire us to create our own compositions.

Now, I may say too that this book it's still a good reference for those who want to learn to draw various foods in a simplistic and cute style, and that one of its strongest features is that it offers a great variety of lessons to follow.
