2.75 stars - I could not connect with the characters at all. They were unlikable. I was bored most of the time. The plot twist was unexpected.

The Perfect Affair, the story of College Professor, Aaron Nichol's affair with Cara Morton, a colleague and the aftermath is a twisty suspense thriller. Paige, Aarons's wife wants her family to survive the affair, believing Aaron's decision to end it with Cara. But, everything is not all it seems and who can be trusted? When Cara goes missing, the suspense is more intense. The story of Aaron's easy slide into the decision to cheat on his wife and its emotional aftermath is realistic and well developed. My one negative is the back stories that seemd the cross the lines of believability. The ending was a good one, unexpected but it worked. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC of The Perfect Affiar in exchange for my review

"The Perfect Affair" by Angela Henry is a captivating tale of love, betrayal, and redemption that will keep readers on the edge of their seats from beginning to end. Henry's masterful storytelling and compelling characters draw readers into a world where nothing is as it seems, and every twist and turn leaves them guessing until the very last page.

At the heart of the story is protagonist Kendra Clayton, a strong and determined woman whose life is turned upside down when she discovers her husband's infidelity. As Kendra grapples with the devastating betrayal, she embarks on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment, determined to reclaim her sense of worth and find true happiness.

Henry's characters are richly drawn and multi-dimensional, each with their own flaws and complexities that make them feel incredibly real. At first glance, I anticipated The Perfect Affair being an extended version of the familiar ‘deranged woman scorned, life of the married man she seduced turned upside down’ trope found in many domestic suspense novels. That may have been the general storyline, but this book developed into so much more than a cliched romance gone wrong. The summary provided by the publisher simply did not do this book justice. I read this non-stop in one evening because it was *that* riveting.

As I read, I visualized the characters as being part of a Tyler Perry Netflix thriller, but with Sterling K. Brown as the nerdy, somewhat bland university professor and maybe a young Vanessa Williams playing the part of the brilliant (and possibly dangerous) bombshell new faculty member with the obligatory shadowy past.

This is the type of book where it pays to highlight passages in your Kindle if you have any hope of solving the mystery - or at least eliminating suspects. This novel got better as I went along, which I loved, as it often goes the other way with many domestic suspense plots.

Overall, it was very well-organized and extremely well-paced. I’d recommend this to anyone who enjoys an intelligent thriller with a fatal attraction theme. It was one of the few novels I’ve read lately where the dialogue is plausible and not corny or cringeworthy. I can promise you that there are at least five major plot twists, most of which are revealed in the last third of the book.

Additionally, the author makes some thought-provoking and very accurate observations about how society regards certain crime victims after sordid details of their backgrounds are leaked to the media. I truly learned something in addition to reading a very engaging book.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me the opportunity to review this book. All opinions are my own.

This book was entertaining but a bit chaotic the farther in I read. I found myself getting lost and having to backtrack to check what I'd already read and I felt that the characters were made to be unlikeable for almost no reason. I wanted to root for someone, but couldn't really figure out who.

Aaron Nichols thinks his marriage with his wife is in trouble so when a beautiful new professor starts, he sees no reason not to flirt. Paige Nichols begins to have doubts about her husband and when she meets the new teacher she just knows something is going on between them. After she throws Aaron out of their home he begins to see reason to fight for his old life back and ends the affair. Cara decides she doesn't want to lose Aaron and that were the trouble begins.
This story starts with a bang and ends with one too. I enjoyed the writing and was involved in the life of this couple. It begins slow setting the stage for a completely shocking ending.

This book hooked me from the first page. It was such a twist and turn rollercoaster and i loved it.
This is the first book i have read from this author and it is certainly not going to be my last.
I enjoyed the description, the scene setting and the character development. I started out finding Paige really annoying and then by the end i thought she was bad ass. I disliked Cara from the get go and her character development was perfect. She was meant to be hated and she massively was.
Really well written book with lots of twists and turns. The ending was mind blowing and i never ever expected it. I thought i had figured it all out but nope- that curveball well and truly whacked me in the face. I was jaw to the floor.
I am glad Paige got what she deserved with her happy ending with her little family and i am glad her husband was taught a lesson in the rules of marriage.

When Paige Nichols meets her husband’s glamorous new colleague at a faculty mixer, she instantly knows they’re having an affair. It’s the way he looks at her, like she’s the only woman in the world. Aaron used to look at her like that, too. And with her beautiful, knowing smile, Cara Morton seems to enjoy flaunting their romance right under her nose.
Paige believes Aaron when he says he’ll break things off. What else can she do when she’s determined to hold her family together? But then Cara makes a shocking accusation about Aaron that threatens to end his career as a college professor and shatter their barely patched up marriage. Paige stands by her husband, but doubts creep in. Is Cara telling the truth? Or is this all part of her dangerous game? Then Cara Morton disappears without a trace. Paige knows her husband can keep secrets. She’s keeping dark secrets of her own. But is he a killer? The police seem to think so. But they don’t know Cara. They don’t know about her past. They don’t know what she’s capable of…

This is the first book I read from this author and my rating is a 3.5. The twist that came from this book I did not expect. The Perfect Affair was a quick read. This book follows a married couple Page & Aaron which the husband has an affair with his coworker Cara and once the wife Page finds out about the affair Cara the women Aaron was having the affair goes missing. Aaron becomes the number 1 suspect on her disappearance. There were some characters that didn't need to be in the book. I didn't connect with the characters as I thought I would but I will say that last part with Page that really shocked me I was not expecting that.
Thank you NetGalley for this book.

There was A LOT going on in this book. I don't really think the title reflect the book very well, although yes there was an affair that was down played by everything else that happened. Honestly, it kept my attention but it seemed a bit far fetched with some plot holes that were hard to miss.

Thank you, Netgalley and Storm Publishing, for giving me the opportunity to read in exchange for an honest review.

This was an effortless reading in consideration of the back and forth between the past and present. Sometimes, it can be confusing when jumping between different timelines, but Angela Henry did a great job of blending it all together seamlessly. I'd have to say one of my favorite things throughout was learning how the characters were connected.

This book was like a Lifetime movie! It was full of action and drama. There were dual POVs narrated by the husband and wife, Aaron and Paige. There were so many twists and unexpected turns in this novel. It was such a roller coaster ride! There was great suspense building and I was fully locked in on what would play out at the end.

I listened to this book in one sitting. The narrator, Rachel Henshaw, did an amazing job! She brought all of these characters to life and made the book an even better experience.

I really liked the premise of this book, however the character development was abysmal. The only really interesting storyline was towards the very end. I felt that this author was just trying to see how crazy they could make this book and just put so many different twists in it, but it did not work because all the characters were so horrible and I did not like any of them, Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.
