I love Jeneva Rose, specifically her Queen of twists-ness, but this one wasn’t it for me! I did enjoy, it was perfectly described by someone else as a great popcorn-thriller. I enjoyed the read, but it wasn’t shocking or startling to me. The concept and characters were well thought out but just needed an extra oomph to get it to the next level for me. But don’t worry, not done with Jeneva - I know she’ll be back with another great read that’s for me!

Home Is Where the Bodies Are by Jeneva Rose
Thank you so much NetGalley & Blackstone Publishing for the eARC.
Blurb:
A chilling family thriller about the (sometimes literal) skeletons in the closet.
My thoughts:
Hands down my new favorite Jeneva Rose book! I took so much time to read this book because it was one to be savored and enjoyed. And it did not disappoint! It’s full of family drama and a ton of emotion. While still a thriller, she touches on some heavy topics that might not close to home for some. It’s raw and unsettling in the best of ways and I already wish I could read it again for the first time. I was also fortunate enough to receive my preordered copy early and it’s BEAUTIFUL. The cover is nostalgic and encompasses the entire theme of this book so well. She’s going to stay with me forever! (The book) Home Is Where the Bodies Are is out TOMORROW 4/30/24! You don’t want to miss this one.
Happy reading 📖 📼

This was an okay read, but not a page-turner for me. I also was able to predict the twist, but not until close to it being revealed so it was a mystery most of the time. I think it will be underwhelming for fans of this genre.

I've never read any of Jeneva Rose's books before but after this one, I am definitely going to check out her other work! Three estranged sibling reunite at their childhood home after the death of their mother to get things sorted out. After watching an old home video showing her parents and the dead body of a child who had gone missing in 1999. This book took me on a rollercoaster! While I love a thriller even if I can guess the ending, I never expected how it would end. Fast-paced with all the twists and turns you'd want out of a thriller, this would be a great book to read and discuss.

Everyone has a complicated family. If your family isn’t complicated, then you probably know someone who has a complicated family. That said, I fully own that my family dynamic is, at best, complicated. Not as complicated as the one in this book, but enough that there was plenty of things I could relate to while reading this one!
I found myself simultaneously liking and not liking any of the siblings, Beth, Nicole and Michael, but wasn’t that the point? Each character is flawed and not only processing the very recent death of their mother, but also dealing with long forgotten mysteries and missing people who, somehow, their parents are connected to. Imagine going through your mom’s stuff and finding a video that incriminates your parents in a long ago murder. Complicated doesn’t even cover it. I will say, I truly didn’t see this one coming. I won’t spoil it here, but I had one theory throughout the book that I was sure, absolutely sure, was correct. I was wrong! Not even close. Definitely read this book is you like stories of redemption, self-discovery, and twisty mysteries.

A fun twisty mystery/thriller filled with family drama and a dose of nostalgia with the tapes. This was my first Jeneva Rose, not going to lie, her tiktok presence brought me to finally read one of her books! This was fun, I wouldn't read too much into it just fall into the fast paced and twisty ride.

I just love Jeneva Rose's novels!! She is the only thriller/mystery author that gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have a hard time with this genre (figuring out the plot twist too early in the book, just becoming bored with the storytelling, and even just not enjoying how the ending it wrapped up) but once against Jeneva Rose has made me second guess every assumption as I read!

This is my first read by Jeneva Rose. I was excited to read it because I have seen great reviews of her last 2 books. In this one, 3 adult siblings return to their hometown after the death of their mother. While working out the details of her death and her estate they find out a bit more than they bargained for. They are watching family videos when they find one that leads them to believe their parents were covering up some major secrets.
I enjoyed the small cast of characters, the small town setting and the suspense. I love the nostalgia of the VHS tapes too. The pace was a little slower than I like, but overall an enjoyable and intriguing read, that kept me guessing.

This was ok. I've read many of her books and they have similar themes and twists. This didn't feel original but it was still an ok listen.

A compelling mystery with good pacing and satisfying twists.
The rural/small town setting was particularly convincing and the characters were well-drawn

📖 ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ: I really enjoyed the authors previous book #YouShouldntHaveComeHere and I was so excited to be able to read an advanced copy of her newest book! I thought this eerie mystery was really good! It was a very character driven story, where we got to know a lot about each of the 3 siblings and all of the many problems within their family. Once I started reading this one, it was really hard to put down! Although I did find the twists to be a bit predictable, I really enjoyed this one. This book is out next week - be sure to admit it your TBR!

Thanks to #NetGalley and #BlackstonePublishing for the book #HomeIsWhereTheBodiesAre by #JenevaRose. This book is a home run! I absolutely loved it and could not put it down. It’s about a family of five. The mother is dying, the father missing for seven years and three children who grew up and went separate ways. There is a deep secret revealed after the mother passes and her children come home. There are many twists and turns and a very surprising plot twist ending. I cannot say enough about this book.

Seriously such a good book! There were so many plot twists and it was an original idea! I loved it!!

Enjoyable read, but not my favorite Jeneva Rose book. I felt this story didn’t carry the same intense pacing as her other novels, and I’m sad to say I figured out the ending pretty early on. Overall this was still a good book, but I was hoping for greatness, and this fell just the slightest bit short.

This has become my newest favorite by Jeneva Rose – twists turns and then it comes together – you will not be disappointed – and yes I read the acknowledgements at the end – you should too #HomeIsWhereTheBodiesAre #JenevaRose #NetGalley

Jeneva Rose has done it again! I could not put this book down! I felt like I was transported into this small town from page one. The characters were incredible and the various points of view really brought this story to life! A fantastic quick read!

This is Jeneva at her best! Home is Where the Bodies Are is such a well written, intriguing family suspense! There were some sensitive topics touched on with family and sibling relationships and how families come together or get torn apart after death. This twisty, jaw dropping novel is filled with Jeneva’s witty banter that we all have come to know and love! It was a fast paced, propulsive read that ended up being a little predictable for me, but I still enjoyed the read and was shaken when the twist happened! So excited for Jeneva and of course can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!

As someone with ADHD, I have the attention span of a gnat. Home is Where The Bodies Are kept me so invested that I inhaled it one sitting. 😬

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow, what a mystery!
I did have my suspicions about what really happened way back, when, but I was only right about part of it.
The read is intense and our characters are so very damaged and so very compelling.
Expect to have your heart broken more than once and definitely expect to be surprised.
An excellent read!

First I want to say, I love this cover! It looks so cool! I really enjoyed this book. I couldn’t put it down. I did guess the twist from the beginning though, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. I still had a great time reading it.
