This book was refreshing and fun. It was however also perfection. I love found family books. And schemes. And cake. And love. AND REVENGE! so good!

On to who I would cast in this story:
King Madeleine Arthur
Queen Emme Myers
Knight Ross Butler
Rook Jonathan Daviss
Pawn Matt Dave Lewis
Kevin (🦸🏻‍♂️) Trevor Flanagan
Lexi Florence Pugh Jackson (🥹) Rudy Pankow Maureen Dove Cameron
Dash (as much as I hate to do it) Theo James 😔

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for a chance to read and review!!

“I really shouldn’t have worn heels to my very first heist. ”
Here are reasons to read the YA Mystery book:

Banished Daughter - Olivia and her mother have been banished from her affluent father’s house after he cheated
Wedding - and now he is getting remarried. So during Olivia cooks up the ultimate revenge plan
Heist - she puts together a heist with a few acquaintances in order to get the money that she needs to put her family’s life back together.

I was so ready to read this heist book, and overall it was a solid read. It’s about found family, smart women, and just a lot of fun. In general I think the book could benefit from tightening up the storyline, but I really didn’t mind some issues I had because I enjoyed the ride so much. If YA mystery is your jam, consider this one.

3.5/5⭐

I LOVE a good heist story and this one was so much fun! I don't read a lot of YA these days but even as an adult I really enjoyed this. It was fast-paced and silly and entertaining with a really likeable crew of characters (and even the not-so-likeable ones end up growing on you!), and I would totally read another book about their future adventures.

The interactions between the characters, the romance side-plot, and all the unexpected twists made this a very bingeable read, while also providing room for character development. I appreciated Olivia's complicated feelings about her dad - families are tricky! - and she was very easy to root for as a heroine.

I recommend this for those looking for an entertaining, lighthearted read with lots of drama and subplots that doesn't take itself too seriously. I've had my eye on these authors for a while and look forward to reading more from them!

3.5 rounded to 4

Olivia gets a crew together to plan and execute a heist. The target? Her lying, cheating, deadbeat dad who is also a zillionaire, and about to marry his latest mistress.

I hoped it would be funnier, but given the subject--a rotten excuse for a parent--I ought to have expected a lot of emotional fallout, which is well described. And that's kind of the point of the book, rather than the heist, which works because the author is shaping the story. There is also romance; a fun read for a certain mood, but not a *funny* one.

This was such a good story. I felt like I got sucked into it super fast, and it kept my attenion for a really long time. Usually YA books are hit or miss for me, but this one really stuck. I don't think I finished a book this quick in awhile! If you're a big fan of 'what could go wrong will go wrong' type of books, with some drama splash in, and a pinch of revenge, you'll adore this book too!

5 Reasons to Read

Heists

This book was so much fun! Very reminiscent of an Ocean’s 11 movie. What would you do if your millionaire dad just dropped you from the family one day as if you didn’t exist? Why not take his money? And at his next wedding for that matter? That is exactly what Olivia has been planning to do for months! She may not be an heiress anymore but she’s not going to let that stop her from taking back what she’s owed!

Family Drama

Olivia’s father would never win father of the year. Olivia had a difficult time trying to make him love her and finally realizes it’s just not possible. Now he’s getting married for the second time since divorcing her mom and she’s decided it’s time to get back at him for all the years he treated her and her mom like they didn’t exist. She’s not the only family in attendance at the wedding though, and she ends up learning much more about the family she never really felt like she fit into.

Secrets & Blackmail

The heist was going as planned until things weren’t. Olivia finds her plan falling apart quickly when she walks into her father’s study and see’s someone she’d never thought she’d see again. With cryptic messages from her cousin and the name of someone she’s never heard before found in her father’s study, Olivia is starting to realize there are many more secrets than she’d anticipated. Now other people are popping up in her way as she’s trying to pull off this heist and some of them are willing to blackmail Olivia to get a piece of the pie.

Teamwork

Olivia brings quite the band of misfits together to implement The Plan. It was fun learning how she identified each person to play which role in her master plan. It helps having two lives, one rich and one poor, to pull people from. Each has a motive for money and by the end of the book there’s additional players on the chess board and the motives have gone beyond just hitting her dad financially.

Plot Twists

I enjoyed the end of this one. There were so many little twists and turns from beginning to end. It was great seeing how with each piece of Olivia’s plan fell apart, she was able to redirect in the moment. She was determined to complete her plan and make her father pay. This will keep you on your toes from beginning to end all why you’re having fun! I hope we get to see more heists from Emily and Austin in the future!

Heiress Takes All by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka, 368 pages. Little, Brown Books, 2024. $15.
Language: R (79 swears, 6 “f”); Mature Content: PG13; Violence: PG
BUYING ADVISORY: HS - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Two years ago, Olivia’s parents divorced—and the prenup they had signed meant that Olivia and her mom were kicked out of the house with nothing. Olivia (17yo) doesn’t care about being an heiress, but her mom deserves to not be drowning in bills. When the perfect opportunity presents itself, Olivia puts together a crew to steal the money they need from the man who took it from them.
I love a good heist, and this team of teenagers scheme, manipulate, and improvise with the best of them. There are so many hidden agendas and unforeseen obstacles that I never knew for certain whether The Plan would work. Overall, it was an entertaining ride that occasionally stressed me out as much as it did Olivia.
Olivia is implied White, Cassidy is described as “cream pale,” Deonte is Black, and there are some Swiss family members mentioned. The mature content rating is for alcohol use, illegal activity, kissing, innuendo, and mentions of drugs and sex. The violence rating is for mentions of bombs.

Heiress Takes All by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka is a fast-paced, heist story that makes me think of a young adult version of Ocean’s 11. I’m a sucker for heist books, so this was right up my alley. I loved the premise, and while some of the parts were a little ridiculous or ones I guessed ahead of time, it was still a fun read.

What struck me while reading this Olivia was a main character that should be hated but she was so well put together with a backstory and reasons so strong why she had to do what she had to I was 100% rooting for her and team to succeed and that is due to the fantastic writing talents of Emily & Austin.

I was hooked by the first chapter what a brilliant way to start a book and they kept that momentum throughout with so many twists and turns it made my head wobble but the last twist was utter genius as was using chess pieces as code names

I'm hoping that this will not be the last that we see Olivia and team.

For all the above reasons The Heiress Takes All receives 4 stars

One of the rules of Murphy’s Law is that ‘anything that can go wrong, will, at the worst possible moment’. That is exactly what happens in HEIRESS TAKES ALL by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka in this cat/mouse or chess game. What a wild ride! Do the good guys win in the end? Who are the good guys anyway?

Seventeen year old Olivia Owens has never forgiven her father for cheating on her mother and then throwing them out of the palace she called home to fend for themselves. Olivia decides to take back what she feels is hers and what better time than when dear old dad is exchanging vows with yet ANOTHER young wife?

Olivia has gathered together a group of students and a prior teacher, all with very specialised skills to help pull off the perfect heist. She has prepared herself and the others for every contingency, worked through every conceivable scenario in her mind and planned things down to the minute. What she hasn’t done is allow for an ex-boyfriend who wants her back, a greedy second wife who wants in and the son of his father’s best friend who merely wants to feel like he is part of something. High jinx and high drama in trying to carry out the perfect plan. Will they succeed?

I really enjoyed this one and see that it is the first of two so I look forward to the second. I felt the tension ratchet up as the wedding continued and so many unplanned events took place. I could feel myself sneaking along grand corridors and trying to punch the numbers on the safe keypad. Do I get in? You decide. The writing is smooth and easy, clear and concise which leads to an enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown & Co. for this ARC opportunity. All opinions are my own and given voluntarily.

What I love the most about this story is the scheming and the fun member of the heist!
It wasn't just a simple heist and Olivia's dad is not just a simple rich annoying guy. He has a couple of dark secrets of his own and Olivia is going to steal it along with his money 🙌

Not just the suspense of a heist going, the side second chance romance plot is also delightful to see.
It’s interesting to see Olivia’s relationship with her father and watching her character grow throughout the story.
I like seeing the unexpected friendship Olivia formed with her crew members.
My favorite member would be Kevin, he really liven up the story and I have to admit he was pretty smart too!

The ending feels quite satisfying with a couple of twists thrown there but things look far from over based on Olivia's dad last words.
I really hope this get a sequel or form a series because I would like to get back with the funny gang again 🙌🙌 and maybe planning another heist 👀👀

Overall, it’s an entertaining and enjoyable read, it’s perfect for teens!
If you like reading a YA story about scheming, romance, secrets, families and revenge then this book might be for you!
I’m looking forward for the next book by this author in the future!🥰

Heiress Takes All is a fast-paced YA thriller that is just an easy and quick read about a former heiress, Olivia, who is the wronged daughter who decides to give her father a taste of his own medicine by pulling off the perfect heist at his wedding. Cue a series of mishaps, backstabbing and family secrets.

I had a hard time connecting with Olivia. While her strong relationship with her mother was very sweet, the rest of her character was just a girl wanting to win her awful dads affection. The book is also striving for a found family dynamic, since the supporting characters aren’t fleshed out it’s hard to care for them. I wish we could have gotten a better insight into Olivia’s heist mates.

There’s so much going on that it at times becomes a bit much. But despite multiple subplots, the book started to feel a bit repetitive. While there constantly were new things happening, the formula was essentially the same. Something that made me feel a bit bored, because the plot just kept circling around. At first I loved all the drama and the mishaps were fun to read about, but the repetitiveness removed some of that fun in the long haul.

This wasn’t for me. But I can see how others would love Olivia and the way the plot is structured.

Heiress Takes All by the author dup Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka takes the reader to the world of teen angst and a mastermindedly planned heist all in the span of one day.

This book was so captivating that I couldn't stop reading it, every time something happened that we as the readers felt like wasn't supposed to happen, the authors took us to notice every detail that they have planted throughout the book. Every detail of the heist was excellently planned, and the plot twist at the last few chapters were incredible. It was one of those things that makes the reader go "How did I not see that coming?". That is the brilliance of this book. I absolutely adored this book and its characters.

The found family was everything, especially with the teacher being a father figure for Olivia. I would love to have another book delving into what happened to each member of the heist after they got what they wanted. I'm also very curious to see how Olivia's relationship with her family evolves. Every character was brilliantly unique, and the book gave us a window into each of their personal struggles and wishes which is something I adored. Especially how Kevin longed to fit in, and at the end he found a place where he could feel like a part of something.

This book was a perfect mixture of teenage ambition, revenge, messy family dynamics, and a dysfunctional found family. It's one of those books that keeps you wanting more at the end.

Guys. This book was incredible. I am a HUGE fan of Emily and Austin's writing, The Roughest Draft and Do I Know You? Beautiful, incredible, amazing. This one, out of the park! This fast-paced, heart-racing, thrilling YA novel about young Olivia and her organization and planning of stealing millions from her father's online accounts. Olivia creates a team of other highschoolers and one of her former teachers to hijack her father's wedding day. And I mean, I was cheering them on every step of the way. Olivia is smart, she's convincing, but she's also an Owens and that was her biggest fault.

My heart kept racing when I picked up where I left off, every plot twist was strong, and every character was suspicious. Olivia's father truly is terrible beyond words, and I'm hoping we get another book of Olivia leaving him fully dry. Every turn taken was another block hit, but Olivia and her crew were impeccable. I loved every one of them and what they brought to the table, even if sometimes they devised from the plan and maybe felt like a backstabber.

Can not recommend this enough! Truly, go read if you're in the mood for a YA (small romance subplot/small love triangle, nearly invisible), high school kids working a heist in the midst of the leader's father's wedding to his third wife. Olivia is a strong female lead and ooh there were lines she said where she delivered so strong!

Thank you again for the arc NetGalley and Little Brown Young Readers, truly, I had such a fun time!

This was a fun and fast paced story of revenge and betrayal. The heist was elaborately planned but there were some unexpected hiccups along the way, which made for an entertaining read. It was a book full of action with a little side of romance. Everything was nicely wrapped up at the end, but it sounds like there will be a second book with a new adventure for Olivia and I’m all for it!

Cute YA--very much Inheritance Games meets Ocean's 11.

As with other books I've read by these authors, the setup in this one is way too long. We're both thrown right into the drama without any background, but then after that the drama is incredibly drawn out.

Olivia Owens is seventeen. Her father and mother divorced after her father cheated, but due to a prenup, her mother got nothing. Bills are piling up and her father has now been divorced again and is set to marry for the third time. Olivia wants what is rightly hers of his immense wealth, so she has put together a plan and a group of people to pull off a heist of a portion of her father's money. But things don't go exactly as she planned...

I enjoyed this story for the most part. It is almost cinematic in its narrative, the reader can visualize the entire thing unfolding. It suffers a bit from too many characters and moving parts, which on the page gets a bit muddled and occasionally confusing. And since the reader doesn't really know the plan, when it goes awry we don't really get the whole impact.

That said, once things get going this is a fun book, and I ended up with a smile on my face because of how things all came together in the end. It's totally worth reading just for that part. If you enjoy the adventure parts of the Inheritance Game series, you will want to give this one a try.

📚 Heiress Takes All
✍ Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka
📖 YA Thriller
⭐3/5

➡ Olivia Owens used to have it all: a mansion, a spot at a posh private school, popular friends and the best clothes money can buy. But all of that changed when her dad cheated on her mom and kicked them to the curb with nothing to show for their former lives.

But Olivia has a plan for revenge. With a band of misfit classmates, a teacher and a faux wedding cake, stealing millions from her father during his 'wedding of the century' should be no big deal for this mastermind. But what happens when nothing goes to plan? A meddling ex-step mother, a nosy classmate, a kidnapping gone wrong and one traitor later, Olivia's about to find out if her heist will leave her for richer or poorer.

🙏 Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown Books for Little Readers for an advanced copy of Heiress Takes All. All opinions are my own.

🎯 What I loved: This was a fun premise- a teenage Ocean's 11 type book set at a wedding with revenge at the forefront of everything. The character players were fun and all had unique motivations for being part of the heist. The book all took place within a short timespan, so it feels fast and like you're reading as things are happening in real-time.

🙅‍♀️ What I didn't: While this had the makings of a really fun adventure, I just didn't find it propulsive. Olivia, the main character, was difficult for me to empathize with. While I understood that she wanted revenge on her father for his wrong-doings, it felt like she spent the entire book referring to 'The Plan' and everything she was mad about vs. actually engaging in the heist/plot. And, where at the end of Ocean's 11 and similar heist movies, you're left wowed by the final twist, there really wasn't one in Heiress. I liked that the story took place in present-tense but because of that, there wasn't a lot of character evolution which I really crave in YA books. I love Wibberley and Siegemund-Broka as an author pair, but this was definitely not one of my favorite books of theirs.
