Meet Hannah, a writer who decides to spend the summer in her hometown of Chatham, MA for a change of scenery as she writes her next book, and Sara, her sister, who is struggling to carve out time for herself in a busy life caring for 4 boys and a husband. This is a cute story with very little substance that will work just fine for the beach when you’re several margaritas in.
That being said, I nearly did not finish this book. I felt like the author was writing a term paper with a length requirement, simply stuffing words in random places to get to the requisite number to turn the book in to her editor. I can overlook a little bit of this in an ARC, as I know it will get edited, but in this case, it was so pervasive, I don’t know how you would edit it and still have much of a story left. There was so much repetition and belaboring of points. Things were explained that do not need to be explained (who doesn’t know what cornhole is, really?).
I also did not feel like there was much effort put into character and plot development. The whole story felt a little bit like reporting the news. There was very little emotion. Decisions were made with seemingly little feeling or thought. Whole plotlines would be wrapped up in a sentence (maybe a paragraph, if you were lucky) with neat little endings.
I do very much appreciate NetGalley and St Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. If you’re looking for a simple book that’s easy to follow, you might enjoy this one. For those with reading tastes similar to mine, though, unfortunately I have to give this book 2 stars, do not recommend.

This author has a huge following who await every new book she writes. This one has a really good storyline, with characters you want to know more about, and you feel as though they could be your friends.
There have been comments from some readers that feel the author talks too much about the food the characters eat, the wine they drink, along with a few other negatives. I believe these things add to the story that she is conveying and gives the reader the feeling of “being there” with the character.
I do feel, however, that the last few chapters felt very rushed, as though the author was simply trying to get the book finished. That took away some of my enjoyment of the book.
Other than that, even with a fair amount of editing that needs to be done, the story was entertaining and kept my interest.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. This was a solid 3 star read for me, not the absolute greatest or mind blowing book but not the worst either. I enjoyed it overall but there were a few elements I'd have changed. The romance didn't feel totally genuine and at times this book got slow and I didn't want to pick it up. It was cute and a good beachy setting book but not one I will rave about.

A feel good book. The characters are likeable and people you would enjoy being friends and spending time together. Plot was predictable but an enjoyable read

Pamela Kelley wrote a beautiful beach read! Nice characters each adding personality to the story. Hannah the main character is extremely likable. There were a few spots that slightly dragged, but not enough to make you put the book down. The ending was two thumbs up!! Thank you NetGalley for the chance to preview The Seaside Sisters. It was an enjoyable read that I will recommend!

Having sisters, I always enjoy books about them. throw in the ocean and that's my kind of book. A sweet story about women and their connections. thank you netgalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for a review.

What should have been an engaging story turned out to be so slow paced and uninspired that it was difficult for me to continue reading . No mechanical errors or problems, just a book that didn't work for me from an author I have enjoyed previously.

Net Galley Review: The Seaside Sisters by Pamela M. Kelley is good. I give it 3 stars. The story is about two grown sisters' lives, navigating love, family, death, work, and everything in a cute beach town is a quick read. This book is a perfect beach read - not too intense, adorable, and fast. The book is set to be published on June 4th.

Solid 3.5 to 4 star book. This book is one of those that you just wanna open up on a warm summer day sitting on the beach. The author did a great job of creating characters who you get to know very well and root for in the different places that they are in their life. We meet Hannah, who after some stressful times, decides to come home to Chatham for the summer to work on her next book. She gets to reconnect with her family and meet some new people. It’s a wonderful story about what we really want in this world and we come to get it.

I love me a story like this! It kept me captivated from the first chapter. I just think a wide variety/range of people will really enjoy this! I recommend.

This was a fluffy, low drama, low stakes, light summer read. It had some relatable characters who worked through their problems fairly effortlessly. There was a tiny bit of very clean romance. And a great setting in a Cape Cod shore town. It really is the quintessential beach read. Perfect to read while you’re drowsing in the sun and sipping a cold drink.
Thank you to Netgalley and St Martin’s Press for my advance copy of this book.

I love a good beach read, but this just didn’t hit the spot for me. I felt like the writing was very simple. Also, there were SEVERAL times in the book where the characters would talk about something, then go somewhere, and then after they would have almost the exact same conversation as before. I thought my kindle was turning pages the wrong direction for a while! The story overall was cute, but I just didn’t love this one. 3.5 stars.

What a delightful read, always enjoyable when the story takes you to a beach. This wonderful book takes place at Cape Cod. The two sisters are, Hannah and Sara. Hannah is single, works and lives in Brooklyn. Sara lives in Cape Cod with her husband and children. The town is Chatham where the sisters grew up. Hannah is a writer and has writers block, so she goes home to see her sister. Hoping being in a different setting will help with her writing.
Hannah has an offer from her aunt to stay with her. The house is right off the ocean front. What a peaceful place to continue writing her book. While there she makes new friends and renews a friendship. This book is a real page-turner. You just want to keep seeing what is going to happen next in the lives of this family and friends.
This is my 2nd Pamela M. Kelly read and now I want to read so many more. Thank you to Pamela, her publishers and NetGalley for the enjoyable read.
I am looking forward to another book from Pamela. As my friend recommends her books all the time.

This was a leisurely, cozy, sweet, introspective, character-driven, comfortable, bookish, beachy, atmospheric, fluffy, Hallmark read. If that sounds like something you’d love, then I definitely recommend this to you! While my own experience wasn’t anything for me to rave about, it is not a reflection of this story, rather that this just wasn’t to my particular reading tastes. I can absolutely see how this author is quite popular in this specific genre, her writing style is very immersive and her characters empathetic. I’m grateful for the opportunity to branch out of my reading comfort zone and try something different, even if it wasn’t something I ended up loving.

Pamela Kelly’s book The Seaside Sisters is a delightful beach read. It focuses on the challenges and romances of three women. Maddie needs space and time apart from her husband. Sara feels unfulfilled and not appreciated. Hannah as a new author struggles with writers block and the end of a two year relationship. During a summer at the beach town, Chatham, they find resolutions and romance blossoms or is rekindled. The reader is introduced to the charming seaside town and its beach, bookstore, coffee shop and downtown stores. The descriptions made me wish I could spend a summer in Chatham. Be sure to add Pamela Kelly’s The Seaside Sisters to the top of your reading list.

Fans of Hallmark movies will enjoy The Seaside Sisters which follows two sisters and their aunt following the death of their mother/sister. I enjoyed the multiple points of view and how the story tied everyone together, along with the picturesque setting. The ending was pretty predictable, but overall this was a cute read.
3.5 stars if I could give a half.

What Pamela M. Kelley can do with a book is unusual. She has the unique ability to add in description of thoughts and actions that may seem every day but are moments in time that will make you say "Hey, I do that!" or "Yes, that's how I do it too!" Before long, the characters seems like best friends and you would swear that Kelley knows you all too well.
In Seaside Sisters, Hannah and Sara are still grieving the death of their mother. Hannah moves temporarily to Chatham, Cape Cod to beat writer's block while her older sister is returning the work force after four children. Join them as they overcome the obstacles we face ourselves, as they look for love, miss their mother and find solace in each other and the beach.
As someone who visits Chatham every summer (twice!) I loved this book and felt like I was right there the whole time. Join Kelley's characters and let me know if they feel like friends of yours when you finish! #TheSeasidesisters #Pamelamkelley #stmartinspress

An enjoyable summer read, with a lovely setting, sympathetic characters and a well-constructed storyline. The only drawback is that it dragged in places.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. Another fun beachy read by Pamela Kelley. I found this to be a good read, but very similar to a Denise Hunter book that I just finished too. I enjoyed the stories about the sisters and the aunt to be interesting and easy to follow.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book. It is my first book by this author. And I really enjoyed it. It’s about a young author having trouble eriting her book. So she moves in with her aunt in hopes of finding the momentum to finish her new story. And she does find much much more. I love the ending and would recommend.
