The Infiltrator T. R. Hendricks
Derek Harrington continues to fight the good fight searching out the hidden locations where Autumn Tithe is active. Derek is a relatable character. Far from perfect and battling his demons he manages as best he can. Great details and a very active thriller. Highly recommended! #TheInfiltrator #NetGalley

This is my first T.R. Hendricks book and I was not disappointed. The Infiltrator is action packed right out of the gates. It was filled with interesting characters and twists I couldn’t predict! I can easily see how people get sucked right into this series. It played out like an action movie!

I loved Derek Harrington’s character. Although he was flawed, he was doing everything in his power to overcome and save the day. I loved watching him work through his struggles and felt for his character. I enjoyed the small bits of the story from the villain, Sarah’s, point of view. She was trying so hard to get revenge on Derek and his team, to the point of obsession. It was fun seeing it play out and guessing how Derek was going to stop her.

You can tell a lot of care was put into getting the details right. The author has military background and it really made the story come to life. The descriptions were plentiful and easy to comprehend. I found myself truly sucked into this world.

It’ll be interesting to see where the story goes next! A big thank you to NetGalley and Tor Publishing Group for the copy of this ARC! It was so fun to read.

This book has cemented Derek Harrington as one of my all time favorite characters ever. He is a truly good person. Of course, he is not without flaws, continuing to struggle with using alcohol as a cooping mechanism, control his rage, and overall manage his PTSD. However, he is trying so hard to be better for his family, and he shows empathy and compassion to those who lost their lives as a result of his operation when many others do not. And my favorite part

The Infiltrator by T. R. Hendricks has an action-packed start that immediately engages readers. This is the second book in the military action thriller series featuring Derek Harrington and takes place one year after the events in the first book. Derek is working as a contractor for the FBI to bring down a group called Autumn’s Tithe for good. They are intent on destroying the government.

Intelligence points to another camp in a remote area of Kentucky in Daniel Boone National Forest and Derek must locate it before they attack. At the same time, ex-FBI Special Agent Hannah Kittle, known as Sarah, devises a plan to get revenge on Derek and her ex-colleagues. However, Autumn’s Tithe’s benefactor’s faith in Sarah is waning and has set other plans in action as well.

Derek is a retired Marine Warrant Officer and survival, evasion, resistance, and escape instructor who is a wilderness survival expert with significant field acumen as well as technical and tactical expertise. He’s tenacious and perseveres in the face of adversity. He also loves his ex-wife Kim and their son Michael. Derek suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and nature is his sanctuary. Despite his flaws, he and his extraction team are likeable. They’re characters you can easily root for and hope they succeed in all of their endeavors. The addition of Special Agent in Charge Samuel Liu added additional conflict and politics to the story line. Sarah feels somewhat one-dimensional with her sole focus on revenge. Many of the other characters interacting with Sarah and Derek came to life as well.

The author does a fantastic job with atmosphere and world-building. I felt like I was with Derek and his team throughout the novel. There are significant descriptions of weapons and tactics, too. While most of the story is from Derek’s point of view, there are occasional insights from other characters, including Sarah. Hendricks balances the shocking and upsetting aspects of the novel against the investigation into Autumn’s Tithe, Derek and his team’s training, as well as his interactions with his family. The action sequences are superb. While I wasn’t quite 100 per cent satisfied with the ending, it left the door open for another book, which is something to look forward to. Themes include death, anger, security, revenge, family, friendship, fear, trust, lies, politics, and much more.

Overall, this exciting and suspenseful novel is a powerful page-turner with great world-building details and tension that feels alive. The author’s military background made this novel feel authentic. I hope there is a third book in the series.

Tor Publishing Group – Forge Books and T. R. Hendricks provided a digital ARC of this novel via NetGalley. All opinions expressed in this review are my own. Publication date is currently expected to be April 23, 2024. This review was originally posted at Mystery and Suspense Magazine.

And my favorite part of his character, he completely and totally detests FBI politics and has no problems displaying such disdain to his higherups. Derek is seriously amazing! The other characters were also great. I loved the team that Derek got to work, and I did really enjoy that we got Sarah’s point of view. Of course, the action in this book was also fantastic. I need a movie made of this because the scenes were so cinematic! I will say that for me there was a bit of an overload of technical information on the weapons/tools, but I know some will love it. Overall, I highly recommend this book!

The Infiltrator comes out swinging with the action starting right away. The book is a nice balance of story and action. I’m intrigued by the government conspirators involvement with Autumn’s Tithe. Very well written, the pace kept me up way past my bedtime. My only disappointment is now I have to wait even longer for book three.

Last year's The Instructor, was one of my more favorite debuts. When I heard about The Infiltrator, I knew I would be reading it.
I was lucky enough to get an advanced copy from NetGalley to read and review.

The book picks up soon after the events of The Instructor. Autumn's Tithe is still a problem and Derek is hot on their trail. He has the assistance of the FBI in his hunt and is working with a team to find the camps and locations of Autumn's Tithe and neutralize them before any terrorist attacks can be performed.

There were a number of new characters in this book and all of them are written well. Agent Liu is as terrible as you want him to be. He plays his part well.

I enjoy novels that have characters I can get behind. The protaganist is not without his flaws and that is a good thing. While I cannot relate to anything that Derek has done or gone through except being outdoors, he and his team are likable. You root for them. You feel pain with them.

I also enjoy a great action scene and this book has a couple. Once in them, you are not putting down the book until there is a resolution. The way they are written force you to keep going. You mst know what happens. Good and bad, you need to know. They are also written from different vantage points and there is a little repetition to allow you to understand what is happening and that a new viewpoint is being introduced. It gives you more information on the action and takes you in further.

I eagerly anticipated this novel and was not disappointed. T.R Hendricks delivers an exceptional story once again.

1st time reading T.R. Hendricks and The Infiltrator was a really great book. Great cast of characters, plenty of action scenes, and of course the evil government antagonist. Pretty sure there will be a follow up, I guess I'll have to wait, so I might have to check out the 1st book in the series.
Thanks to Forge Books Macmillan and Netgalley for giving me an ARC of the book and I highly recommend buying/reading.

Book Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

T.R. Hendricks has another amazing thriller with his follow up to The Instructor, The Infiltrator. The Infiltrator, out in April 2024, follows protagonist Derek Harrington as he continues to hunt down the remaining factions of domestic terrorist group, Autumns Tithe. In book two he has a team to assist, as he uses his wilderness skills to stalk through the woods of America locating hidden settlements.  Sarah returns as she puts a plan in motion to fight back against Derek and his team. In this story Derek must balance his time between work and home, attempting to be a good leader as well as a good father.

T.R Hendricks follows up his first novel with another action-packed thriller that keeps readers at the edge of their seats. I had a hard time putting the book down because I needed to know what happened next. T.R. Hendricks has a gift for making the reader care about his main character, from hunter to family man. He portrays a man trying to keep his country safe, but at the same time trying to keep his family safe at home. The book has some great action sequences that will get your pulse racing. There is no shortage of explosions and carnage, as Derek and his group attempt to take down some familiar enemies with the addition of some new threats. Again, this is another amazing story that will leave you wanting more.

Thank you @netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc of this read!

Thank you to the publisher, author and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to admit I really wanted to like this book, but frankly, I think I am a bit burnt out on the military superhero type books. The story isn't bad and I found myself rooting for the protagonist, but I just couldn't bring myself to get invested in the book. I feel bad trudging through the last 100 pages or so. I think this was a case of me being the problem more than the author. 3-stars

Derek Harrington is back in The Infiltrator by T. R. Hendricks. It's hard to believe it's only the second book in this series since the impact of it makes it feel like it's been around for longer than that. It's new and fresh and the author has created some great characters and his own version of mayhem. I love it. This book continues the struggles from book one and maybe Derek will put the uprising to bed in this one? It's available in April and then you should buy it and find out. I must thank Forge Books Macmillan and Netgalley for giving me an advace copy and I need to thank Hendricks for writing it.

This was another great entry in the Derek Harrington series, it worked with what I was looking for from the other book that I read. The characters were everything that I wanted and enjoyed getting to read this. T. R. Hendricks does a great job in writing this and continuing the world that was built.

The Infiltrator is a second straight hit right out of the gate for T. R. Hendricks. It’s action-packed, suspenseful and emotional. A book that patiently sets the stage before opening the gates of hell with a ferocious barrage of violence that’ll leave you in shambles.

Following his heroics to bring down a camp of would-be domestic terrorists in upstate New York, Derek Harrington is now the key forward element in the FBI’s effort to root out the remaining cells of the dangerous group known as Autumn's Tithe. Having successfully shut down several other locations, the latest intelligence shows a final camp located in Kentucky that appears similar to the others. But this camp is way more than it seems and the FBI operation is met with significant resistance, leading to a showdown between Harrington and the leaders of Autumn’s Tithe that will threaten everything Derek holds dear.

The star of the show in The Infiltrator is definitely the action sequences. Black Hawks, Apaches, MRAPs, SWAT & HRT, snipers, and more. A torrential downpour of hot lead and missiles. A firefight that is as intense, insane and incendiary as anything you’ll ever read. Unapologetically brutal and indiscriminate in dealing out death. Cinematic in description. Packing an emotional punch. Glorious, unputdownable stuff.

Additionally, as with any nascent series, character development is critical, and Hendricks does an excellent job on this front. He provides additional insight into Derek Harrington’s personality, skillsets and relationships that go a long way to making him relatable while also qualifying him as an elite operator. Witnessing his attempt to put the pieces of his life back together with his wife, son and father provide context on his flaws but also show how he’s approaching trying to be a better person outside the wire. But the character development goes well beyond Harrington with the introduction of several fascinating individuals who have a major influence on events and outcomes in The Infiltrator. And they are sure to provoke strong reactions from readers.

Jump on this series now because it’s got the legs to reach lofty heights. And there’s unfinished business at the end of this one that projects towards a killer third installment on the way. Which is great news for thriller fans!
