I tried to avoid looking at too many reviews before reading this very popular thriller, but I still feel like my expectations were pretty high going into this one after seeing it all over my feed the last few months!

I loved the inclusion of podcast episodes in between chapters, and enjoyed that Lucy’s narrative was told in first person POV. The combination of her sarcasm and dark humor were really enjoyable and helped me connect with her a lot as the main character.

I loved the small town atmosphere in this one and the relationship that built between Lucy & Ben over time as they worked on the podcast. This is a page turner that you won’t want to put down once you get going! Highly recommend for thriller lovers, or those who enjoy a good true crime podcast!

Thank you to the author, @netgalley & @celadonbooks for my ecopy of this thriller to read and review!

I’m starting to think my new favorite thing is incorporating a true crime podcast into a thriller book….

I truly enjoyed every second of the book! I was constantly engaged and loved the cast of characters. I loved that the FMC was not the most likable person but she still cracked me up all the same

Five starts for Listen for the lie by Amy Tintera

This book is about a girl whose best friend is murdered and is suspected of killing her, although she does not remember what happened. A podcaster, helped eventually by the protagonist, decides to investigate the murder and find the truth.

The characters are really well written and there are many twists and turns that left me guessing the ending multiple times.
The book is fast paced and I flew through it in a couple of days. I loved how the different characters are introduced and the way the podcast adds different elements to the story.

I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, fast-paced thriller.

Thank you, @librofm and @celadonbooks, for my #giftedaudiobook and thank you, @netgalley for my #gifted e- arc! This one was an excellent audio and one of my March BOTM picks!

So, I loved this one! With the podcast spin, it had the feel of a true crime mystery, but not as gory and just so perfectly paced. Not typically a fan of amnesia, Lucy and her sarcastic charm had me cracking up and rooting for her whether she turned out to be her best friend's killer or not! She and Ben had a great connection, and their efforts to solve Savvy's murder together was fun, filled with twists, and captivating. If you haven't read this one yet, I definitely recommend reading for a suspenseful and unique psychological thriller with a dark comedic twist.

I really enjoyed reading this thriller. One of the things that made it so interesting was that the book included a podcast element, where the host of the show interviewed various people in a small-town neighborhood who knew the characters Savvy and Lucy. This made the book a fast and enthralling read. I also appreciated the fact that many of the characters were unreliable, which added to the suspense. I loved Lucy's sarcastic and snarky personality, and her grandmother was a hilarious character. Overall, Listen for the Lie was a fun thriller/mystery with just the right amount of humor.

Thank you Netgalley, Celadon Books, and Amy Tintera for the eARC.

Fairly confident this book will land on my top 10 of 2024. It has all my fav things: true crime. Podcast. Sarcastic FMC. Sassy grandma.

Lucy finds herself in the spotlight when the murder of her bff is the subject of Ben Owens' latest podcast. Why is this not just a bad thing, but the worst thing? Lucy herself is accused of committing the murder. Insert one of the most sarcastic, funny, female MC's I've ever read. So much so that she reminded me of me, which I'm still trying to figure out is a good or bad thing.

This story flows so well. I was so invested in whether or not Lucy was guilty, and let me tell you, I didn't get my answer until the end.

Thank you times a million to Celadon for providing me with my copy of LISTEN FOR THE LIE in exchange for an honest review.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book was so good!!! I was absolutely obsessed from the beginning and couldn’t put it down! This was fun and full of little twists. Ben is the host of the Listen for the Lie podcast. He is investigating the murder of Savannah, Lucy’s best friend. The town thinks Lucy killed her, but there she was never charged. Did she do it???
This is definitely a binge worthy read! Grandma was the best character 😂

Thank you @netgalley @celadonbooks and @amytintera for this eARC in exchange for my honest review

I was hooked from the first chapter! I love when thriller / suspense books have a true crime podcast element, and this one was done SO right! Would highly recommend listening to this one, the audio narration really brings to life the podcast portions and the narrator for the MC does such a fantastic job. This book is steamy and the characters are so messed up but the way the author writes them makes you grow to love a handful of them! While it did get a but repetitive, since I liked what I was listening to, it didn’t bother me much at all! The descriptions were so vivid!!

You're best friend is dead. You are found wandering the streets, soaked in her blood. Everyone thinks you are the murderer and you can't defend your innocence because you can't remember a thing that happened that night. This was a very fast paced and entertaining thriller/mystery. I love the incorporation of the true crime podcast, multi-timelines, and the short chapters! These components along with a fantastic plot made this book fly by in a hurry. Very much enjoyed this one.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

• true crime podcast thriller
• sarcastic writing
• short chapters

This felt like a refreshing thriller read. Our FMC had an interesting and witty voice throughout - it was fun to be on the whodunit ride with her. There are definitely some unlikable characters, and maybe a few too many red herrings. As a fellow Texan, I enjoyed the setting. 🤠

🗣 Thank you to netgalley and Celadon Books for the opportunity to read and review this book via gifted eARC and ARC! All opinions are honest and my own.

This was the first thriller I've read in AWHILE and it kept me super intrigued! I didn't put a lot of thought into what might have happened and just enjoyed the ride, learning bits and pieces along the way. I really enjoyed the podcast aspect and the amnesia angle. There were a couple of "loose ends" that I am still not sure about, but overall it was super interesting and I read it a lot faster than I have been reading physical books lately, so that says a lot! It made me want to pick up more thrillers that just keep you wanting to read more.

When I first saw the synopsis, I thought, "oh great, another thriller with the podcast subplot." *insert eye roll here* But once I started reading, I never thought that again as it was the most well done of the MANY thrillers using the podcast angle. I flew through this booked, completely invested, and while I had my suspicions about who did it, it didn't keep me from wanting to learn how and why. This book deserves the hype it's been getting for sure. I gave it 5 starts immediately after finishing. However, I will say I am writing this review a little bit later and am having a hard time remembering much about this book. That may be because I did read it so fast. I wish I would have listened to this one on audio as I've heard the narration is excellent.

What a great ride! A woman is the main suspect in her best friends murder. She leaves her small hometown and only comes back at the behest of her grandmother when a true crime podcaster comes to revisit the case. Some fun reveals and I loved the snide main character! Highly recommend.

I recommend listening to this one if you can because the podcast elements are really great on audio!

Five years ago, Lucy was found wandering the streets after a wedding, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood. Savvy is dead and Lucy has no memory of what happened, and she is considered a suspect.

In the present day, Savvy’s murder has not been solved and Lucy has been living in Los Angeles. When her grandmother convinces her to come home to Texas for a milestone birthday celebration, she encounters a hometown that still suspects her of the murder of her best friend and a podcaster that is covering the case for her second season.

This was a really fun listen! I loved how the case unfolded, but I did feel like it took a while to set the scene and ramp up to the action. There is a reveal around the halfway mark, and after that point the story really takes off.

I loved the use of dual timeline to reveal what happened to Savvy as Lucy slowly remembers more about that night!

While the thriller worked for me, the romance unfortunately did not. It’s not a huge part of the story, but I felt like the romantic subplot was awkward and a bit forced in the story. Thankfully it’s not a major part of the story and the thriller plot is so good that the story is absolutely worth reading.

Thank you to Celadon Books for the eARC. All thoughts are my own.

This has been a year of five star reads!! Listen for the Lie was a phenomenal thriller. Twisty, funny, and an ending I never saw coming. I could not turn the pages fast enough and I laughed out loud more than a few time while reading!

The podcasts intermixed were very well done and really added to the story for me. Tintera created well developed and fully dimensional characters. I’ll be adding a print copy of Listen for the Lie to my shelves!

A huge thank you to Netgalley and Celadon for the advanced reader copy!

Whoah, at first I did not like Lucy. Condescending, too cool energy turned into a mask covering really raw emotions dealing with her best friend’s murder.. THAT EVERYONE THINKS SHE DID?! This was a fun, keep you on your toes, read and I was so pleasantly surprised.

I had kind of slid into a reading slump because I was reading a lot of fantasy. This book pulled me right out! I love a good, fast-paced thriller, plus throw in a true crime podcast and I am ALL IN! This book will pull you in from the first line and keep you hooked!

Thanks to NetGalley and Celadon Books for an eARC In exchange for my honest review.

This is one small town in Texas with plenty of secrets !
This book has twist after twist that will keep you on your toes. Who actually killed Savvy and why doesn’t Lucy remember anything that might convince almost everyone that she didn’t murder her best friend ? Great book !!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book.

A great premise, but my expectations were set a bit too high!

A hit podcast featuring a handsome host, Ben Owens is all the rave. He is investigating a murder and is determined to interview the victim’s best friend, Lucy, who is also believed to be the perpetrator! Can they team up and solve the murder themselves? I wanted to follow the podcast and pick up all the clues!

Lucy has some issues. She can’t stop the “murdering people” thoughts that keep popping in her head. And I mean constantly, at some point I just started skimming her intrusive, murderous thoughts.

There is a lot going on in this book. The podcast interviews, Lucy and her toxic family, Lucy’s amnesia, flashbacks and lots of cheating (talk about getting around)! I wanted more investigating and less Lucy.

It was entertaining enough and I enjoyed the Texas setting and Lucy’s humor and witty comebacks!
