I really liked Listen for the Lie by Amy Tintera. For one, I simply enjoy books about podcasts, particularly when episodes break up the book and give a completely different perspective. There were quite a few twists and turns in this book and I didn’t figure out the villain until late in the book, which is a win for me. I definitely would recommend this to others and am looking forward to what Amy Tintera writes next.

Woman found wandering the streets covered in her best friend's blood.... Hot Podcast host and a little spice...YES Please! I found this book to be a fun read. However, I also listened to it as an audiobook, and I think it was even better with the podcast music. I am one who loves books and podcasts, so this was perfect! I found myself hanging on to every word and I changed my mind several times as to who I thought the killer was. Lucky me, I didn't figure it out until the very end!
The only thing I will say is that the end disappointed me a little. I think it could have had a better ending...or maybe just maybe...there will be a sequel?? Thank you to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book!

Fast paced, easy to read, loved the true-crime podcast aspect and the dry humor. This one kept me flipping the pages because I couldn't figure out just what really happened. Highly recommended!

Thank you to Amy Tintera, Celadon Books, and NetGalley for my complimentary copy.

Lucy returns to her hometown years after being accused of murdering her best friend. A true crime podcaster interviews many of the locals, including her family with their own colorful secrets. A fast-paced thriller with a touch of sarcasm that made me LOL a few times. I devoured this book in a few sittings.

This book was hands down one of the best books I've read this year and in a while. The perfect suspense and sarcasm that kept me going until 2 am since I had to finish the book (one sitting too). Lucy is accused of murdering her friend and since she doesn't remember what happened that night/not enough evidence, she is living her life the best she can. My favorite part of this book is Lucy and how she doesn't see her self as a victim but leans into the IDGAF attitude. The snarky comments she has is refreshing compared to other whiny poor me in other books. The great switch between Lucy's view point and getting information from the podcast is such fun. This book made me gasp in shock so many times and kept me guessing on what actually happened. The ending was perfect for the story and I love the results for each of the characters. I can't wait to read more from this author.

Lucy Chase doesn't remember anything from the night her best friend Savvy was killed. So when she's found wandering down the road, covered in Savvy's blood, it's difficult for her to explain. There's not enough evidence to formally charge her, but the whole town (and country) seem to agree that she's a murderer. Five years later a true-crime podcast reignites interest in the case and Lucy returns to her hometown to try to finally find out the truth about what happened that night.

This story is propulsive and I loved Lucy's incredibly dry sense of humor. I had a hard time with all of the infidelity and sleeping around in this book, or maybe I just had a hard time with the fact that none of the characters seemed to have a hard time with it. That's one way to give everyone a motive for murder, but it felt a little lazy.

Except in this case… because this book was FANTASTIC!!! 😍 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗲 marches to its own beat. It has both a quirkiness and an irreverence to it, thanks to our darkly funny MC Lucy, that I absolutely adored!! For a thriller, this book is like a breath of fresh air - smart, compelling, and completely bingeable, without being overly dark or gritty. It’s such a fun read!!!

🎙️ Lucy fled her small hometown of Plumpton, TX five years ago, after her best friend Savvy was murdered, and 𝘓𝘶𝘤𝘺 was the one found covered in her blood with no memory of how it happened. When Ben, a famous podcaster, hears about Lucy’s story, he decides to try to solve the mystery himself. As new information comes to light in his interviews, Lucy starts to believe that maybe Ben can uncover the truth after all… even if the biggest mystery is herself.

🔪 The amnesia trope is a tricky one because there aren’t a lot of breadcrumbs to follow, but the eclectic cast of characters with all their different flaws and motivations really kept me guessing! I loved the ending and the message too, which I won’t give away 😉 Heads up that this does have a good bit of sexual content. Nothing graphic, but it’s a persistent theme throughout the book. Overall, I absolutely loved it and it’s one of my first-half favorites of 2024!!

Thank you Celadon Books and NetGalley for the ARC for review!

I read the last 75% of this book in one sitting. It was amazing.
I love how the story was all tied up. Great humor, some low spice scenes mixed in, pretty much perfect.
You'll change your mind about who did it right up to the end.

ABSOLUTELY FREAKIN' LOVED THIS BOOK! It was fun, gripping, and sucked me in from the beginning. A total bingeworthy book, so make sure to set aside time to read this one without any distractions, because once you start you won't be able to put it down. This is a podcast-style book which I absolutely love. I loved the MC, the suspense, and how this kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what would happen next. If you are looking for a quick, fun, addictive book....this is it! BRAVO, Tintera!

The author grabbed my attention on the first page and this intriguing and witty mystery had me quickly turning the pages.
Everyone thinks Lucy murdered her best friend after she was found covered in Savvy's blood. There isn't any evidence to prove this and Lucy can't remember.
Lucy moved to L.A. when, five years later, podcaster Ben Owens has decided to investigate the case for his true crime podcast "Listen For The Lie". Lucy returns to help solve Savvy's murder.
Full of twists, turns and lies!

Thank you to NetGalley and Celadon Books for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

If you are obsessed with true crime podcasts, this is the book for you!!

This story follows Lucy, who was accused of murdering her best friend Savvy. Years late, a true crime podcast decides to investigate Savvy’s murder, and Lucy is forced to return to her hometown to help solve her friend’s murder.

I really enjoyed this one! It’s fast paced and has lots of twists - I was glued to this book because I couldn’t figure out what had happened. I liked that we get Lucy’s point of view interspersed with snippets of the podcast episodes.

Lucy had a dark humour and snarky thoughts which kept me hooked, and I really enjoyed her character. However, she did begin to annoy me after a while.

Overall, a fun and fast paced read for those who love true crime podcasts!

This was so good! I love a podcast thriller because for some reason it makes me feel even more like an amateur detective than when I read any other type of thriller. I enjoyed that the main character had amnesia and therefore her reliability was in question. There were times I rooted for her and also times I definitely suspected her. There are lots of characters so your chance of guessing the ending is slim, but I did sometimes get confused with who was who. I thought all the sleeping around was a little extreme and unnecessary and I also thought there was one part of the plot I could have done without. But overall a solid podcast thriller! Thank you to NetGalley and Celadon Books for the eARC!

"Listen for the Lie" by Amy Tintera is a gripping and suspenseful thriller that delves into the complexities of memory, truth, and betrayal. The story follows Lucy, who is implicated in her best friend Savvy's murder after being found covered in her blood. Despite relocating to LA and starting anew, Lucy's past comes roaring back when a true crime podcast decides to investigate Savvy's case. As she is drawn back to her small Texas town, Lucy confronts the ghosts of her past and the unsettling realization that the truth may be more elusive than she imagined.

The character dynamics are richly developed, from Lucy's internal turmoil to the intriguing presence of podcast host Ben Owens. Tintera's prose is sharp, propulsive, and kept me on edge throughout.

"Listen for the Lie" is a compelling mystery that explores the blurred lines between innocence and guilt, that will leave you questioning everything until the final revelation.

This was a fun and quick read. I felt like the author did a great job in making me question all of the characters and their motives. It always makes it interesting when the main character is unreliable. I was always trying to guess who did it. There were a few things that were annoying to me. I was a bit annoyed that everyone was cheating on someone with someone. I know the cheating and some of the borderline abuse or flat out abuse were meant to cast suspicion on characters, but it felt a little over-done and out of hand. I loved Grandma Bev and Ben. They were probably my favorite characters. The way it played it, I hadn’t guessed. It was all wrapped up nicely!

A fast fun thriller that doesn’t let go. Love the use of a podcast to move the story along. Lucy returns home after being gone for years after the death of her best friend. The town blames her. Ben is a podcaster that ones to solve the cold case. He interviews her and helps her remember what happened that fate filled night. A quick fun read.

I actually listened to this on audio and it was amazing. I love the way this is written, how it goes back and forth from the podcast and from the main characters perspective. The story kept me engaged the whole book and the characters emotions were so real, I almost forgot this was fiction. There were so many time where I thought I had the story line figured out and then I would find out I was completely wrong.

The humor from the main character and her grandmother were unmatched. I do love a good sarcastic character and Lucy and Beverly delivered. It has been a long time since I stayed up late and woke up early to read a book.

This book was an absolute blast! I could not put it down, and the podcast elements actually made it even more fun to read. I'm dying to know more about the ending though!

So so good. I was really concerned that I wouldn’t enjoy this because it was so hyped up in bookstagram. But the writing is amazing and the storyline is perfectly done.
