Finding Mr. Write was an easy read to get into, and I was quick to finish it . It is the first novel I've read by Kelley Armstrong, and it won't be my last!
I enjoyed the premise of the novel, and the development of Chris and Daphne's relationship kept me engaged and connected to the story throughout. Their slow-burn romance was fun and flirty. I enjoyed their banter and thought they had good chemistry.
The conflict that arose was resolved rather swiftly, so the story was very low on the angst and tension.
All in all, it was a very entertaining read. If you're in the mood for a rom-com, check out Finding Mr. Write this summer!

One of the things I loved the most about this book was Daphne's character. She was so loveable and knowledgeable and I loved all of her dimensions! I also loved the descriptions of the Yukon and the picturesque scenery. This book made me want to visit so bad! Not only was Daphne such a cool character, but I loved her dynamic with Chris! From the beginning, I was rooting for them and I loved the slow build. I loved how Daphne was the one that was exposing Chris to *her* world and that he was the one learning throughout (not the typical male teaching female trope). This is such a cute summer read that will make it's readers want to get to the end of the story to know what will really happen with the two of them - two people that come from very different worlds!

I received a DIGITAL Advance Reader Copy of this book from #NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I wasn't expecting much from this book but I ended up loving it. It was a super easy and light read and perfect for the type of book it is. I liked the idea of Daphne submitting her book under a man's name just to see if it gets accepted and the outcome that came of it. It also makes me wonder if there are any female authors out there that do write under male pseudonyms.
I loved how goofy Chris was and I also was very happy that he gave up on the "Chris Ainsworth" persona quickly. It let the two of them actually get to know each other.

Finding Mr. Write was an absolutely perfect summer read. It had all the elements you need: light, funny, and a great HEA.
The writing was very engaging. The book managed to suck me in right and I found myself wanting to keep reading (even when I should have been adulting lol). I’m not the biggest fan of the miscommunication trope, but other than that I really loved Daphne and Chris’s story.
If you are looking for a fan, fun, easy summer read, look no further! Thank you to NetGalley and Forever Publishing for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Daphne Mc Fadden is a promising writer living among the Yukon wilderness. She has spent most of her writing career receiving rejection after rejection to all of her past books. She is used to doing things for herself, she doesn't need a man to help her survive the rugged wilds and all that it entails. Though, posing as a handsome, muscular outdoor enthusiast and using a male pseudonym for her latest book? That could help bring her all the fortune and fame she deserves, without putting her in the uncomfortable spotlight. So, hiring an actor to play Zane Remington wilderness expert extraordinaire and author just might be her easiest way out. How hard could it be right?
Finding Mr. Write is a new romance novel by author Kelly Armstrong, famous for her Women of the Otherworld series that was turned into the tv show Bitten. I found this story to be very cute and loved the Yukon scenery, Kelley's ability to write such a realistic picture obviously stems from her spending so much time there herself. Seeing a female character that can handle her own and be somewhat of a survivalist was nice to experience, however the romance between Daphne and Chris (Zane) didn't feel as flushed out as I would have liked even though their banter was funny. I know Kelley can write amazing couples like Elena and Clay from Bitten, so I would have liked a little more slow-burn, and not as much miscommunication between this couple. The story line was much more original than most rom-coms and I really enjoyed the close proximity trope. This is a perfect summer read for a camping trip.
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC, in return for an honest review. 3 1/2 stars

I LOVED this book. LOVED IT! When I was a kid, I saw reruns of a show with Pierce Brosnan (yes, 007) called Remington Steele. As an adult, I thought that premise would make a great book. Armstrong made “my idea” (haha) even better and created this wonderful story of a beleaguered writer who doesn’t find success until she publishes under a man’s name. When a book tour is scheduled, she must find a man to become her author in the flesh. Let me tell you, this one is every bit as sexy as Pierce Brosnan… er 007… I mean Remington Steele. Whoever! Buy the book! You’ll love it! The story has more feels than 007, more depth, and a much happier ending.

Thank you Netgalley and forever publishing for the earc. My opinions are being left voluntarily. I loved loved this book. It far exceeded my expectations. I loved the yukon setting as opposed to the alaska storues ee always get. I loved the romance progression i loved the bookish theme and kust will be thinking of this book for awhile. Love all the Canadian authors forever publishing has and they are set in Canada.
5/5☆

Fun, funny, & sometimes frustrating.
I liked Daphne & Chris. They were very likeable. The writing flowed and was easy and fast to read.
The premise of the book is Daphne using a male pen name for her book but going one step farther by hiring an actor to play that role for interviews and book show panels and signings. After getting a bunch of rejections for her book, and a little bit of wine, she decided to rework the blurb of the book and submit it under a male name. Bang! She gets an offer. I 100% believe this goes on in every aspect of society and it's frustrating but realistic.
I'm not well versed in the book world. My knowledge is as deep as opening the book and reading it. But, I do know authors use pen names which is not a big deal (unless they're super cheesy, that bugs me) but I don't understand why it's such a big deal that an actor is used to play out that role. In the reality of behind the scene book workings this might be horrible but as a lay person I don't get why this is such a major incident. Seems more of a faux pas than a major scandal.
The underlying trope is a spinoff of the miscommunication trope, it is a NO communication trope, which may be even more frustrating. Each character runs through all the scenarios in their heads, basically miscommunicating with themselves and never talking to the other about it. That grew tiresome especially as it ramped up even more towards the end.
In the author's notes at the end, Kelley Armstrong admits that rom com is not her normal genre, fantasy, mystery, & thrillers are. In that case, this is an excellent foray into this format. It is both rom and com without being cheesy or sappy. The story flowed, the characters were great, and it had the perfect balance of sweet and funny.
I liked this book. Not a full 4 stars but at least a 3.5 or 3.75
(I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley)

Daphne is tired of her manuscripts being rejected so she decides to take a risk and submits her new one under and pseudonym and uses a man’s name and sure enough, she gets an acceptance letter quickly and it turns into a major hit! Now Daphne needs to find a man to play her alter ego, Zane Remington, a real man’s man, on the book tour. Along comes Chris Stanton, who seems to be the perfect fit for the part. There’s just one problem-Chris isn’t an actor, he’s an accountant. Can he pull off being a writer from the Yukon?
This was full of fantastic scenery and strong characters-Daphne is truly a boss babe and Chris made me want to give him a hug on several occasions. And their banter was chef’s kiss too.
But there’s more to this rom-com. It tackles things like sexism, racism and gender roles along with the swoon worthy romance. This is one you’ll want to grab and then thank me later!
Thanks to Forever Books and NetGalley for this eArc in exchange for my review.

I had a lot of fun reading this book! We’ve seen a lot of the FMC being an author but this is the first one I’ve read where she gets drunk and pretends to be a man to get a fair chance! Then even further, having to hire a man to be her alter ego!
The relation ship between Daphne and Chris was fun and funny! They had great chemistry and terrific banter, the flirty moments were flirting! This was easy to follow with a great flow to the writing. I never got bored with the story!

Daphne just wants to get her book published, but feels the only way to do so is to sell it under a pen name - a male name.
I think the premise of this book was fun (but also frustrating that she was right and it had to be a male) but the pacing in some places was off. I wish we knew more about Daphne - I sometimes felt we knew more about Chris than her. Overall entertaining and a good debut rom-com for an author who typically doesn’t write it!

The premise of the book is about the heroine needing the hero to masquerade as her male alter-ego when her latest publication becomes more famous than she expected. Said latest book resulted in fame that brings a bidding war and a book deal. The hero is up to the task of the masquerade, but this brings him closer to the heroine and the huge fandom that crops up. With such a lie, how will the heroine and the hero have their happy ending under such an auspicious beginning to their relationship.
This is a nice romance novel to read during summer season. I enjoyed the entertaining premise of a fandom of a popular book and an author that becomes famous because of it. I liked the main characters and their relationship with each other. I would have liked a bit more details added to the story for a smoother transition in certain areas of the book. I also liked a few secondary characters more than some others, just due to actions that I find unfavorable. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

This book was so cute and fun and adorable! Ironically it was also not the only book in June that I read where the main characters names were Chris and Daphne, so those must be two popular names for romance authors now. And I think they are nice names. I have never read a book by Kelley Armstrong before but I definitely plan to look out for more books by her in the future! If you are looking for a fun read with a romance that has amazing chemistry, then this is the perfect book for you. Highly recommend this one!!

What happens when your big break is fake?
Finding Mr. Right was such a fun little rom-com from one of my auto-read authors. Packed full of dramatized publishing insights, Canadian wilderness quips, tension, and ultimately joy. Daphne and Chris were everything I needed from an author × accountant playing fake actor playing fake author romance!

I really love Kelley Armstrong’s writing and ability to write for so many different genres. I’m a huge fan of her Rockton series, which is more of a mystery thriller ride, but it was nice to see her write an outright romance. I feel for her first romance foray this was good.
Daphne is unable to get her manuscript accepted until in desperation she submits her work under a man's name. Surprised when it is accepted she ends up in a tough situation. Then comes Chris, an adorable accountant who ends up becoming the face of her alter ego. I love that both of them are sweethearts that are above and beyond capable in their personal lives. I was slightly worried about a misunderstanding in Chris’s personality dragging out but thankfully by chapter 7 everyone knows how the other person truly is. Despite knowing that at some point the public will find out about this arrangement it doesn’t feel like a cloud overhead the whole time. It’s sweet and vulnerable getting to the reveal.
Special thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for sharing this book with me in exchange for my honest review.

DNF at 47%. I just couldn’t get into this one and found myself skimming a lot and wanting to be done with it. There weren’t really any stakes, the plot felt meandering and predictable, and even though the concept sounded good from the synopsis, the execution of it just made me feel icky (as a woman writer myself). Plus, I didn’t understand why Daphne needed to write YA when it felt like the author didn’t understand the genre herself. Why couldn’t Daphne’s book just be an adult novel, which is clearly the author’s specialty? Anyway, this book was not for me, and honestly, I’m not sure it’s for anyone.

Thank you NetGalley, Kelley Armstrong and Forever. I have such a soft spot for books that wrap the plot around instances of workplace or industry discrimination or challenges due to gender. This year I have read a few books with this underlying theme and this one, much like the others, hit me right in the feels. Throw in a dynamic canine side-kick and book-centered themes and it’s a home run for me. This book gave me moments of ick (but intentional plot-centric ick), moments of laughter and moments of suspense and tension. I really loved the dive into the Yukon, a place I’d never really thought much about and the absolute badassery of Daphne juxtaposed with the sweet nerdiness of Chris.

Light-hearted and a pretty quick read. Finding Mr. Write follows the story of debut author Daphne who hires an an actor to act as her nom de plume after submitting her manuscript with the name Zane Remington. She didn't count on Chris to be so involved in the process - doing author talks, event panels, and even stay with her in her remote Alaskan home - which only further complicates Daphne's eventual decision to reveal Zane's true identity as her fanbase grows. As a big fan of Kelley Armstrong's Otherworld series, this was a fun pivot into a slight behind-the-scenes of the writing and publishing process for authors - especially authors who are women who may choose to use a pen-name. There were a few awkward scenes and the miscommunication/major conflict between the MCs felt rushed in comparison to the rest of the book's pacing. Overall, a fun read with some humorous dialogue and plot points. 3.5/5

FINDING MR WRITE by Kelley Armstrong is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, romance story line focusing on author Daphne McFadden and accountant Chris Stanton aka Zane Remington.
Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Daphne and Chris) FINDING MR. WRITE follows in the wake of Daphne McFadden’s struggle to get her manuscript aka latest book published. Believing the book would be better accepted from a male author, Daphne McFadden invented author Zane Remington, a pseudonym that would quickly need a face to be placed into public domain. Enter Chris Stanton, an accountant who claims to be a model and actor but a man who is completely unaware of what is about to transpire. As Daphne’s book becomes a number one best seller, a book and media tour requires a public face, and Chris is about to be thrown in head first. All does not go according to plan as guilt begins to blur the edges of success, and betrayal comes at the cost of Daphne’s life back home.
The world building follows Daphne and Chris as they continue their ruse. Daphne as ‘Zane’s assistant, and Chris as Zane Remington, number one best seller but someone is about to uncover the truth, and our couple must come clean or face the fall-out to come.
The relationship between Chris and Daphne begins when Daphne hires Chris to be the face of her new book. Chris claims to be an actor and a model but his own persona is predicated upon a lie. As the couple are forced to work together, their attraction to one another, cannot be denied. The $ex scenes are passionate but mostly implied.
We are introduced to several members of Daphne’s publicity and publishing team, most of whom are completely unaware of what is about to transpire.
FINDING MR. WRITE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and blackmail, friendships, family, acceptance and love. The premise is charming and captivating; the characters are desperate and dynamic; the romance is subtle.

I thought this was fairly cute romantic comedy. Chris and Daphne were quick whitted and funny. I did have an issue with my copy. The footnotes were not formatted properly, which just resulted in a chunk of text at the end of the paragraph with no way to reference them. The story did feel repetitive with Chris constantly trying to prove himself.
