Princess Fuzzypants here: This is a sweet book for the young reader of early school years. Alycat’s fears about Monday threaten to ruin her perfectly good Sunday. In the course of playing with her friends, the group of them help one another with a silly fear. And at the end, Alycat’s friends help her get over her fear. They point out all the fun things that the week will bring and Alycat realizes that she is just being foolish.

The book is filled with sweet artwork of kitties playing and has some good lessons in it. The biggest one is to confront your fear and one step at a time, get through it. Often you will realize there was nothing to fear in the first place. Five purrs and two paws up.

Thank you Netgalley and Arcadia Publishing for this copy in exchange for my honest review. My daughter and I loved this book. It was a great depiction of how friends helped each other safely get over their fears. I also have the Sunday scaries and love how the kittens approached this topic. The illustrations were adorable and we will read this again! My daughter asked to read it again after we finished. I would recommend this book to friends.

Alycat and the Sunday Scaries by Alysson Foti Bourque is such a great book! I wanted to read this book because the Sunday Scaries are real life (for both kids and adults) plus the cute cats on the cover drew me in. :)

The book focused on supporting friendships and being supportive even when their friends were scared of what the upcoming week may hold. They all find out there can be so much to look forward to and is a good reminder for all.
I love the lesson this book teaches plus the great tips at the end.

This book is scheduled to release on March 18, 2024, be sure to grab a copy!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advanced reading copy of this book.

Alycat has the Sunday scaries. She wants to enjoy her Sunday, but is dreading that tomorrow will bring the Mondayest Monday ever! Alycat and the Sunday scaries is a bright children’s book about overcoming fears and supporting friends.

I found Alycat’s story so relatable, and I’m sure a lot of kids will too! I loved the way that the friends all helped each other to work through their fears, in a creative and validating way, and by sharing their strengths. I think many kids will find the different fears relatable, like riding a new bike, talking to new people (or cats). Likewise, the ways cats used to support each other are a great way to start a conversation with kids about how we can face or reframe our own fears.

The illustrations were bright, crisp and cheerful which bring the story to life, resulting in a warm, bright and engaging read for children.

Thank you Arcadia Publishing and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

Just finished reading 'Alycat and the Sunday Scaries' with my two little girls, ages 7 and 4, and it is a fantastic book!

This book is about a cat not very excited about Mondays – something we can all relate to. The pictures are really fun, and the story is straightforward and gives some sweet tips on how to chase away the 'scaries.'

Aycat is such a relatable character, and it led to a genuine conversation with my girls about facing their fears and worries. It's a solid read for parents and kids to tackle those Sunday night blues together.

This was hard to read on kindle but I think would make an amazing physical book for kids! It was delightful and fun and was a really cute story about getting over being scared overall I loved the pictures and the quality of writing that came with it. I adored the tips and tricks for a lemonade stand and think so many kids would love that.

Alycat and the Sunday Scaries is a cute picture book about a cat that dreads Mondays but as she’s playing with her friends on Sunday she helps the other cats overcome their fears so they help her get over her fears away of Mondays. I read this with my 8 year old daughter and she liked the story and illustrations. I’d say this would be a good book for kids aged 3-8.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to ready this book for my honest opinion.

Alycat and the Sunday Scaries gave me all the happy feelings! I picked it up because the Sunday scaries are real and I could totally relate to it. The book was so much more though. It was about friendships and supporting one another in times of doubt or uncertainty. The way this group of friends lifted each other up and helped each other was a great example for both adults and children.

I liked how it emphasized a growth mindset and to look ahead at all the great things that will be happening instead of focusing on the negative or what could happen. It is a good reminder to all of us. As a teacher, we talk about growth mindset a lot and this would be a great book to read and have a discussion about it and the examples that were in the book.

As a teacher and parent, I love books that have a lesson, or something we can take away from the book to help us grow as individuals. This book does that. It shows how kindness and friendship can help others but also make us feel better as well. It reminds up to see the positives and not focus on the negative.

I loved this book and the cats as characters makes it feel even more relatable especially to us cat lovers. The illustrations were engaging and bright. Do yourself a favor and order this book which is set to release on March 18, 2024. I know I will!

Thank you Alysson Foti Bourque and NetGalley for letting me voluntarily read this book and leave an honest review.

Sunday scaries are real! It's important for kids to know that the feeling is normal but we can all do hard things and get past them. What a great book! This should be on all library bookshelves!

I love that a picture book is talking about the Sunday Scaries. I had a bad case of Sunday Scaries for a big chunk of my childhood and it is great that there is a picture book that makes it seem less unusual to have it.

What a fun and cute cover! Great color use inside too!

Alycat loves Sundays but in the back of her mind, she knows the next day will be Monday. It makes her a little anxious.

Her mom tells her to enjoy today and she tries to.

She goes outside to play with her friends and while they’re having fun, they help many of their friends who are scared of something, by encouraging and helping them.

And at the end, her friends help her get over her fear. They point out the great things about Monday and the rest of the week. They each tell what they’re excited about and Monday doesn’t seem so scary anymore. It’s going to be a great week!
