A fun holiday rom com with a quirky main character. This is a fun holiday read that features a second chance romance, a younger character playing matchmaker, and more. So many holiday romance books falls heavier on the cheesy side with the feeling that you are reading a Hallmark movie, however, I felt this one to be more on pair with more character building and substance. A very enjoyable pre-Christmas read!

Sometimes, holiday novels can be cheesy, however My X-Mas Emergency is all heart and is what romance readers truly want in a holiday novel. Strong female lead, dreamy narration- this audiobook is perfect for the holiday season.

I love love loves this one. Definitely going to recommend it and get a physical copy for myself! Thanks for the arc

My favorite Christmas books are those that take place during Christmas while also having an actual plotline and that is exactly what I got from this one! I truly loved this book! I really connected with the topic of grief as that is the season that I am in right now, but I appreciated that, even with a heavy topic, the book maintained a Lighthearted, feel, which is perfect for Christmas time. The Romans were so good and felt so natural. If you were looking for a, romantic, clean, Christmasy, book with a little bit of depth, I highly recommend this one!

Story: 3.5

It took me a minute to get into this and I struggled at first, but eventually became invested in the storyline. It was a cute second chance romance. The niece was my favorite character, the way she not so subtlety was scheming behind the scenes. Usually when there is a kid involved, it's a young child, so it was nice to see a teenager in the story.
I enjoyed the female narrator and thought she did a great job, however, I struggled with the male narrator, especially his female voice.
Overall, it was worth listening to, but definitely not a favorite.

This book was like a Hallmark movie, and in case you are new here, I ADORE Hallmork movies at Christmas! I love a good second chance romance, ESPECIALLY if the present day story starts with one or both characters hating each other. This story had that as well as an amazing subplot of the hometown screw up growing up to be successful which was a great addition!

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.

Cute second chance romance, with a side of grief and family drama. I liked the heroine as an ER doc and the hero was just so desperate to win her back! But, something was missing a bit for me in the romance department… maybe too much other side drama?
I have to say that I was not a big fan of this male narrator, especially his female voice.

I quite enjoyed the second chance love story of My eX-Mas Emergency, however I did not enjoy the format at all. It felt very awkward having the female perspective in first person and the male perspective in third person. I'd definitely read other work by this author, but I'd be hesitant if the tenses were flip floppy like that. The narrators, however, did a good job, and again the story itself was great!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ALC

My Ex-Mas Emergency is a sweet second chance romance. Calista, always seen as being rough around the edges, left her small town years ago. However, when her niece lost her dad, and her sister seemed unable to, Calista returned to help take care of her. Now an emergency room physician Calista is reunited with her ex Tristan and if Quinn has her way, her aunt Calista and uncle Tristan, will get back together.
This audiobook had its ups and downs. The story was pretty good. Fun moments and I appreciated the family values the characters had. There were moments you could feel the relationship developing and rooted for them. However, the narration let the book down. The female narrator was quite good but unfortunately the male narrator wasn’t. When he tried to narrate the female voice it was awful. I also noted that the female character was in first person yet the male character was third person. I would have preferred both to be first person. So, even though I love audiobooks, I might skip this one and read the book instead.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and the author, for the opportunity to listen to this ALC.

This book was CUTE! Seriously such an adorable holiday romance audiobook! I love this author’s books so far!

5⭐️, 0.5🌶️
Me giving an audiobook 5⭐️?! AND a clean romance at that?!
Honestly, not even liking th MMC’s narration didn’t ruin this book for me (okay maybe a little but I loved the story)
I really enjoyed this book! I loved the second chance romance! Calista & Tristan just entertained me, and the added drama of both of their families added humor without making me feel like it was too much.
Thank you NetGalley for an ALC of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Very cute will they won’t they storyline. I really enjoyed the characters. The hospital setting was a great setting. It lent to some wonderful side characters. Though I felt like one needed more of an ending. I’m invested I need to know.
I listened to the audiobook version. I really liked the female narrator. The male narrator did a great job on the male character. His voice for the females? Not so much. They sounded like 1990s Valley girl exaggerations of female characters.

First, let’s discuss the narration. The female was great. But the male was not my favorite. When he read for females speaking it made me want to stop listening. It was truly not good. This was a cute story though. I wish it weren’t so focused on her high school memories. I feel like by their age what you did in high school should be forgotten.

This was a fun sweet Christmas novel that I almost put down. The first 30% was driving me crazy and the MFC was driving me crazy. But just when I thought I couldn’t listen to another minute she captured me with her sincerity and determination and I ended up liking this very much. The narrators were Wayne Mitchell and Kim Churchill and they were perfect. I especially liked Wayne, he has a dreamy voice.
Things I loved:
❄️Singing O Tannenbaum.
❄️ “Christmas is just another word for love”.
❄️ The Kisses
❄️ The proposal
❄️ And the “Walking Away The Pounds” video
❄️ The HEA

Calista is from the "wrong side of the lake" and War one known as the wild child of Aspen Lake. She happened to date Tristan, who was from the "right side of the lake." But, when some stuff goes down and causes Tristain and Calista to ultimately break up, Calista moves away and vows to never look at Tristain again. But fate is funny - Calista's sister ends up having a kid and marrying Tristan's brother. At the time of this story, We pick up where Calista is attending Tristain's brothers funeral. calista's sister becomes distant, so calista and Tristain Step up to make their neice Quinn happy. Quinn, on the other hand, has another idea by proclaiming that she wants a Christmas like Tristan and Calista had back when they were all younger. Through this, Quinn makes plans or getting Tristain and Calista back together.
My Ex-Mas Emergency was a fun Christmas read to get into the Christmas spirit.
I do not read many second chance romances, but this one was pretty good.
The mentions of the past through the reminiscing really show the growth that both Calista and Tristan go through through the time apart and then from the point where they are forced to give Quinn the Christmas she wants.
This was definitely a sweet romance, but my absolute favorite thing was the relationship between Quinn and her aunt, and you can really tell how much Calista and Tristain care for Quinn.
My only caveat with this book is he miscommunication trope, which is a tropeI dislike it due to being very frustrated
and annoying to me.
Overall, you are in the mood for a Christmas read, then check this one out!

It's December and I'm dying to dive into some holiday themed romances. This started out really cute and promising. However, my enjoyment began to wane over time. The resistance phase of their second chance romance dragged out for too long in my opinion. I just started to get annoyed and stopped caring about what was going to happen when I hit the 50% mark, and they were still acting so immaturely towards each other.
I also found Quinn annoying at times and extremely pushy, even after Callista made it clear she wasn't looking to get back together with Tristan. There was also the fact that she read super young and apparently, she's supposed to be 15 years old with a learner's permit. Both Quinn and Tristian struggled with boundaries and pushing Callista even when she was clear she wasn't into it.
As for the audiobook narration, the male narrator was fine when he was doing his own voice. But his attempts at female voices was awful and cringeworthy. I'm not sure I even liked when he voiced Tristan's father either. I think that this may have been better as a single narrator audiobook.
Overall, this was a cute Christmasy read. I just wanted a little more out of it.
Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the audio arc of this book!

Absolutely delightful. I read the paperback of this when it came out, but was able to listen to the audiobook to review after. It was so well done! You just can’t beat Jennifer Peel’s stories brought to live with narrators. I loved every second of this!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of My eX-Mas Emergency. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
My ratings: 4/5
Overall, I really enjoyed the book. I could not stop listening to it and found myself enthralled with the story. I loved Calista's character and Tristan... this man is awesome. I loved the niece and her personality. I loved the enemies to lovers. It all played out really nicely with their background. The dual POV and the dual narration! Yes ma'am!!
With all the things I liked, there were a few things that really annoyed me. I did not like in Tristan's POV whenever he talked, it kept saying Tristan instead of I. Calista's POV said I but not his. I also did not like how they had to keep bringing up how he broke with her and the words he used. I know you called her a bad habit. I heard you the first 75 times. It became very repetitive.

Great holiday rom-com. Prefect for closed door, second chance, reverse grumpy sunshine romance lovers. Loved how Calista marched to her own beat and how Quinn helped get her aunt and uncle back together. The narrators were great on this book!
