Maggie K. Black's 'Undercover Baby Rescue' gripped me from the start, blending high-stakes suspense with a deeply emotional narrative. The story's heart beats in the frantic race against time led by John Leacock and Detective Violet Jones, a duo bound by a past romance and a present mission to save John's kidnapped nephew from a sinister adoption ring. Their journey, fraught with danger and draped in the urgency of their undercover operation, struck a chord with me, highlighting themes of trust, redemption, and the enduring strength of love amidst adversity.

The personal stakes for John and Violet, coupled with the chilling realism of child trafficking, lent the story an intensity that kept me hooked. Their professional demeanor, challenged by unresolved feelings and the necessity to rely on each other, added layers to the narrative, enriching their characters and their journey towards a second chance at love and faith.

As a book lover, I found the blend of action, suspense, and emotional depth in 'Undercover Baby Rescue' to be compelling. Black's skillful weaving of faith into the storyline provided a hopeful undercurrent to the thrilling rescue mission. This book was a reminder of the power of faith, the resilience of the human spirit, and the strength found in unity. It was a read that not only entertained but also resonated with me on a deeper level, making it a memorable addition to my collection.

Officer Justin and detective Violet will do everything they can to protect Justin's newborn nephew who seems to have cause the eye of kidnappers and traffickers.

I enjoyed following along as they worked hard to protect this child. Justin would do anything he can to help and protect his troubled sister and nephew and that includes messing with his heart when it comes to getting the help from is former fiance. There was so much going on to keep me hooked. It was interesting seeing how everything played out wondering who they can trust, how they and the child even got into this situation of being chosen by the trafficking ring. Overall pretty good book, I enjoyed it.

Justin is close to panic to realize that his infant nephew has been kidnapped. His sister had wanted him to adopt the baby boy. He was, after all, a fixer by nature and a police officer by occupation. Then his former fiancé, beautiful Violet, becomes his partner to rescue his nephew and their close relationship becomes evident once again. This is a very suspenseful Christian novel, with a very interesting plot and very strong, smart and likable characters. It is a five-star book!
I appreciate being able to read an advanced reader copy of this book. The thoughts expressed are my own.

When his nephew is stolen by traffickers Justin Leacock is determined to do whatever it takes to get him back and bring the traffickers to justice, even if it means teaming up with his ex-fiancé.

A fast paced adventure with likable protagonists, in an adventure that will have you hanging on tight. Justin is a guy juggling a lot of responsibilities, I liked his commitment to family and leadership. I liked the relationship between him and Violet, as they reconnect and work together.

An exhilarating adventure, with strong themes of faith, with great relationship building and character development. Highly recommend!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

4.5 stars

Wow, another tense thriller from Maggie Black! I loved these strong characters, Justin and Violet, and how despite Justin's having been a true jerk to Violet before, she still treated him nicely and didn't resent him or hold deep bitterness for what he'd done. And Justin knows he's done wrong to her but is slowly realizing that he was the one who mishandled his life and left him feeling ready to run from another commitment.

But there isn't much time for hanky panky as a murderous group of thugs is closing in on them for daring to hunt for Justin's kidnapped nephew. There were tons of twists but each one seemed reasonable and didn't leave me mystified, just puzzled in a good way as to how it would all come together.

I loved how they managed to figure out the ending challenges, just as everything seemed to be completely hopeless. That was not a twist I saw coming nor a tactic I expected them to use.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a free reading copy. A favorable review was not required.

Undercover Baby Rescue, by Maggie K. Black, is a romantic suspense in which the main characters, Officer Justin Leacock and Detective Violet Jones, must go undercover to take down a baby trafficking operation and rescue a kidnapped newborn. To make matters complicated, Justin and Violet were once engaged, and the baby is Justin's nephew.

The author does an excellent job of presenting likable yet imperfect main characters and describing the harsh conditions they must face in the wilderness of British Columbia. On the downside, there were a lot of secondary characters to keep track of, and some plot elements felt underdeveloped (probably due to the book's short length). However, there are enough twists and turns to keep the story entertaining. Like all Love Inspired Suspense books, the romance and faith elements are secondary to the suspense.

Sometimes you have to have help from someone that you are not expecting it from. Justin and Violet are teaming up to find Justin’s nephew. Well, they find him in time? Maggie Black is a writer that has danger at every turn. If you have not read anything by her start with this book. You will be hooked.

Undercover Baby Rescue by Maggie Black is an action packed Christan romantic suspense. I enjoyed this book. Justin is searching for his kidnapped newborn nephew. He reaches out to his former fiancé to help. He had one of the better reason’s for breaking it off with Violet and it was good to see them work through their issues through the story while trying to catch the kidnappers.
It has a very interesting and sad storyline. This probably happens in real life. The action in the book was partly as they battled the weather and as they were trying to determine who the bad guys were and dodging attempts at their life. There were enough characters in the story to keep us guessing.
I would recommend Undercover Baby Rescue.

This was my first Maggie K. Black book, and I loved it! It started off fast paced and never slowed down. Officer Justin Leacock's nephew has been kidnapped and in order to find him, he concocts a plan to go undercover with his former fiancée Violet Jones. This proves to be messy but necessary to combine their areas of expertise.
Once on the job as a married couple, suspense ramps up and they find themselves in a much deadlier situation then they could have imagined. But neither Justin or Violet are willing to give up until they have his nephew in custody and bring the baby-selling ring to justice. Twists and turns will keep you on the edge of your seat.

There is danger around every corner in this suspense-filled book. John Leacock's nephew has been kidnapped by what they believe is an adoption ring. He will stop at nothing in order to save his nephew. When he is paired with Detective Violet Jones, the tension is a little high. They were once engaged to be married, but Justin broke it off for personal reasons which he believed was best for both of them. The tension is definitely present. However, they are both professionals and a child's life is on the line. They go undercover as a couple to infiltrate this criminal enterprise to try and save his nephew.

The intrigue and suspense were high. The action was high octane because not only are they running from an enemy, but they are battling nature. Both of these characters needed to learn to lean on others more, and Justin needed to rekindle his faith and realize he could not shut every one out. The fact that this type of thing really goes on in the world, make this plotline even more scary. Both main characters were very likable, and you could tell the love and chemistry was still present even after their breakup. I enjoyed this book, and read it in one sitting.

Justin loved his newborn nephew and he told his sister he would be there for him! Sadie was 19, and an addict, she could barely care for herself and the baby's father, Lee was dead.
Justin leaves for a few minutes, he notices a dark haired male nurse with an indent in the bridge of his nose wheeling the baby out of the room. He goes to the chapel and hears sirens and the police are going to Sadie's room, her baby was stolen!
Justin is a police officer, but he is denied access, he sees his former fiancé, Violet enter the room, and they discover Sadie's baby was kidnapped, he is the 6th baby taken by the L.B. Syndicate, an illegal group that traffics newborns bred to unwed mothers and sells them to wealthy parents.
Jason asks Violet to meet him at a closed cafe to discuss his leads on his nephew's case with a friend and the cafe is targeted by shooters and the building is damaged - the kidnappers destroy anyone who tries to find them!

This was a very good read. Lots of suspense, a couple that used to be a couple working together, and a kidnapped baby that was Justin's nephew that was taken right after he was born. The baby's mother had an addiction problem and ran away right after he was kidnapped. Violet and Justin found where they thought the baby was and posed as investors in a wilderness camp. There was quite a bit of intrigue - with not knowing who to trust plus someone trying to kill different people, including them. A very enjoyable story that I read in an afternoon

Justin Leacock has just found his sister who has been living on the streets. She just delivered a baby and wants him to adopt the baby. While he is out of the room, he hears an alert that a baby has been kidnapped. His nephew. His former fiancé is assigned the case. They must pose as a married couple to see if they can infiltrate the baby adoption ring. They discover the place where the baby is. Now they just have to rescue him before he is taken out of the country.

This book was a little slow in spots. But overall it was a good mystery. The H & H are well thought out and play their parts well.

I was given this book by Love Inspired Suspense by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.
