"The Ready, Money Mindset, GO! by Frankie Calkins is a game-changer for anyone ready to transform their relationship with money. Calkins' writing is like a friendly chat over coffee, making complex financial concepts easy to understand.

What sets this book apart is its practical approach. Calkins doesn't just talk theory; she gives you actionable steps to shift your mindset and take control of your finances. From budgeting tips to investment strategies, she covers it all without overwhelming you.

One of the highlights is the author's relatability. It's like having a savvy friend guide you through the maze of money management. The anecdotes and real-life examples make it feel like you're not alone in your financial journey.

Whether you're a finance novice or looking to level up your money game, The Ready, Money Mindset, GO! is a must-read. It's not just a book; it's a roadmap to financial freedom, delivered with a refreshing dose of wit and wisdom. Highly recommended!"

Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an advance copy of this book.

Personal finance is one of my favourite genres, but I often find myself wary when reading a (new to me) author covering this topic. I'm always concerned the book will be filled with out of touch advice and unrealistic expectations. As far as books on FIRE go, I'd say this one is well balanced and focused. It doesn't veer into overly philosophical ideologies or shame people who are in debt. There are also two chapters dedicated to conscious spending, which was refreshing. Side note: I also appreciated the subtle comment directed at Dave Ramsay, as his advice does seem to be out of touch, "[...] you can [pay down debt and invest] at the same time -- despite what Dave Ramsay says."

One interesting thing I've noticed about personal finance books, is that they don't always share brand new information, but I think that's kind of the point. A lot of these strategies for financial independence have been around for a long time, but it's important to have them reiterated again and again because it's so easy to get off course. Every time I read another book on this subject I feel like I'm inching closer and closer to my goals.

READY, MONEY MINDSET, GO! is a well organized book that is easy to navigate and return to whenever you need a reminder. The YouTube videos that link up to each chapter are a really nice touch, and the quick reference appendix of lessons could even be printed out to use as affirmations. Reading READY, MONEY MINDSET, GO! has inspired me to create a blog to act as a journal for my own journey. I've read so many personal finance books by people with families and/or partners, but I've never read one that is both based in Canada and for solo, childfree women. Calkins says in the book that he hopes to at least influence one person, and I'd say he certainly has. I've already added all of Calkins other titles to my TBR.
