Reading Between the Wines book review #35/130 for 2024:
Rating: 4 🍷 🍷 🍷 🍷
Book: The Girl in Seat 2A
Author: Diana Wilkinson

Sipping thoughts: Lies, Money and Greed!! I’ve heard of Who Wants to be a Millionaire but this read was more like Who Wants to Pretend to be an Millionaire. Because of all the pretending and lies, we got to go on a journey where the future was so uncertain and even turning the page, I could not imagine what was about to happen. I always enjoy Wilkinson’s book and this one did not disappoint.

Cheers and thank you to @BoldwoodBooks and @Netgalley for an advanced copy of @TheGirlinSeat2A.

Loved this book and at one point wondered where this story was going….a girl pretending to have won the lottery windfall and living out her dream…a handsome guy who seems to live a lavish lifestyle. Ex girls holding a grudge….it seemed to have a bit of everything. The characters are just so well written and realistic, the tension is built so effectively and you really do have no idea where the storyline is going or what the outcome is going to be! It has the twist, turns and surprises that you'd expect and the plot is constantly moving forward which I loved! I enjoyed every second of this one!!!

I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down! So twisty, and I never saw them coming. What a great story. At first the book is told from the protagonist’s perspective and the second part of the book some of it is told from another character’s perspective, but you’ll totally get why when you get there. It was so interesting to see it written from both sides. This book gets all the stars and I can’t wait for it to come out so I can recommend it to all of my psychological thriller readers! Thank you for letting me read this ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was not incentivized to write a good review, this is just me being honest. You’re going to love this one!

Told by 2 POV's that being Jade and Marta. Good twists and turns and a great ending. I will definitely be looking at reading more of her books.

Jade sets off on holiday to Marbella hoping to join the mega rich and carve out a better life for herself. She has had a windfall but isn't exactly as rich as she pretends to be, but no-one needs to know that, because she's 'faking it to make it'!

The book is narrated partly by Jade herself and later by Marta, a local housekeeper. Nothing is as it seems and the plot twists really keep you guessing. There wasn't one character who was likeable or relatable but the suspense builds well and the ending does not disappoint.

An intriguing psychological thriller about money , greed and power with characters you dare not trust.

Completely addictive and unputdownable….

Wilkinson has done it again and what a gem this is. I knew from reading this author previously, it would be good. However, this has completely exceeded my expectations from the beginning.

This is completely brilliant and addictive. It definitely has it all. There is a super creepy character- I’ve felt the unease, which really adds an element to this one.

This is brilliantly descriptive and really paints a picture. You can’t help but feel you have been transported by this book.

Jade has been a good character. Although, I’ve rolled my eyes many times as I’ve read this one. I love that Wilkinson whisks us off to Spain. It’s just the read I’d needed.

This book has been an addictive read. I devoured this in just one sitting. I absolutely will be recommending this one.

The twists and turns, mystery and suspenseful surprises make for a fascinating read.
The storyline follows the main character Jade initially, then Marta takes over for her take on events with an unexpected twist to end the story.
Jade comes into some money and takes herself on a holiday, even though she doesn’t like flying. Jade’s fears are quashed by alcohol and a friendly person who helps her when she’s unwell.
The scene is set for a holiday romance with Isaac, they go out a few times and then it seems like the relationship’s developing. Jade seems to be taken in by Isaac, then becomes more aware of his controlling nature.
Marta is Isaac’s housekeeper, she has seen a lot more than she cares to, the storyline grows into a more complex believable mystery from this point. Jade appears to be shut off from reality and not seeing the danger she is facing.
The suspense builds towards the ending and the author does a great job of explaining how the different stories piece together.

Thanks so much to the publisher, NetGalley and the author for the opportunity to read this book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was brilliant. A gripping psychological thriller that explores the dangers of secrets and betrayal, and human nature in general, with a twist-filled plot and a shocking final reveal this one is not to be missed! Loved it

Oh what a tale Diana Wilkinson has weaved with The Girl in Seat 2A, told in two parts the first being from Jade's POV. Jade has won a little money on the lottery and has decided to treat herself to a holiday in Marbella to mingle and live like the rich and famous, even if that is stretching the truth just a tad. On the flight she meets the very handsome Isaac, and after a few days living it up in a ritzy hotel he invites Jade to stay at his villa. It son becomes apparent to Jade that Isaac is very particular about cleanliness and he detests mess of any kind.

The second part of the book is told from Marta the housekeepers POV, and what an eye opening read that was! We really get to see just what kind of person Isaac really is, and why Marta treated Jade the way she did when she was staying in the villa. Then we are greeted with a twist and a good dose of karma!

Jade was on a plane to Marbella following her lotto win, not everyone needed to know she wasn’t the millionaire they assumed but £50k better off was a good start. Meeting suave and charming Isaac seemed perfect until things started to get scary and she learned about the other ladies who had lived in his villa before her.

Great writing and an unusual twist on a psychological thriller that really had me guessing until the end. Good characters and a twisty plot really kept my interest and the book was finished in one day.

Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

Readers, prepare for takeoff... This journey will take you through ups and downs of a fast-paced story split into two POVs that are equally thrilling and will keep you at the edge of your seat... 2A! I loved the plot and how the author structured the two POVs alternating them seamlessly (besides she's so good at making them two totally different voices). I also found the writing style very witty, brilliant, not too formal or too colloquial. Last but not least, either Marta or Jade - or both! - have the potential to come back for another trip (book) - Diana, can you hear me?
