Is it possible that I love this book more than the first one? Lie until it’s True checks all my boxes: haunting, murder mystery, & romance.

Amanda falsely accused her sister and now she’s after redemption. But as she investigates murder with friends at the place she spent all of her childhood summers, she’s forced to examine her motives and actions while fighting for friendship and her life.

The characters in this book are relatable. The pace moves quickly and keeps the reader guessing until the end. Another fantastic book by Jessie Weaver. I can’t wait to read more!

Lie Until It’s True is a great YA murder mystery. This follows Amanda, a character from Jessie’s first book: Live Your Best Lie. If you plan to read Lie Until It’s true I recommend reading her first book before reading this one because it is heavily referenced. Being a mystery, I spent the majority of the time reading this trying to figure out who possibly could have been the murderer(s). I was pleasantly surprised that I was unable to figure out the mystery. One person had briefly came into my mind as a possibility, but I never locked them down as the murderer. Being from Colorado and knowing the hotel and town this book is inspired by I was easily able to picture everything, but even without having known this Jessie does a great job with her imagery. The teens this story follows seem realistic as do their responses to trauma at a young age. Really loved this and definitely recommend to anyone who likes YA Murder Mysteries!

LIE UNTIL IT'S TRUE is a follow-up to Jessie Weaver's debut Live Your Best Lie, however you don't need to have read the first book to jump into this captivating YA contemporary mystery.

Two crimes collide, one from the past and one from the present, when true crime TikToker Amanda Pruitt takes it upon herself to solve a billionaire's murder and her childhood best friend's mom is the prime suspect. She journeys back to her childhood haunt, a luxurious hotel resort in Colorado, where she finds it really may be haunted, especially after she sees a ghost... or thinks she does. It's a tight mystery, full of characters you love to hate, and characters you want to see fall in love. The setting, a resort in the mountains, is super fun, especially heightening the feeling of isolation. You'll keep guessing until the last minute!

Jessie Weaver's newest novel, Lie Until It's True, will be a new fan-favorite by anyone who enjoyed reading A Good Girl's Guide to Murder. This fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thriller will appeal to young adult readers. The setting, characters, and story line keep the reader interested and constantly trying to predict who is behind the murders at The Summit hotel. I will be purchasing this book for our high school library once it is published and recommend any mystery lovers add it to their TBR pile!

There is a lot going on in this book, sometimes it feels like too much, but the author always leads you back to a place where it all feels connected. Amanda only has the fondest memories of her time in Colorado with her three best friends, who she unfortunately only gets to see during the summer. However, after a long trial for her sister, some of which she played a role in, she is finally getting to go visit, but not all is well there. she begins to investigate a murder. She’s forced to rethink her stance on the truth, I understand that there are shades of gray within that black and white, and hopefully regain the trust of her friends and family. A little bit of a ghost story a little bit of a murder mystery, this book is certainly engaging and a page turner.

While the little blurb associated with this book was interesting, the story,, for me, was not.

It takes a very skilled author to intertwine various periods of time within a story and this was not done very well here. I kept having to put the book down and figure out where we were in the story. It also slowed the "thriller" aspect considerably.

I barely finished it.

Jessie Weaver has once again proven her clever mystery-writing skills with "Lie Until It's True," the follow-up to her debut novel, "Live Your Best Lie." From the first page to the last, Weaver delivers an immersive and thrilling experience that left me continuously guessing at the multitude of layers and mysteries within the novel. While it can be helpful to have read Weaver’s prior book, it's not a necessity, making "Lie Until It's True" a standalone success.

One of the standout aspects of this novel is the masterful development of characters, specifically Vince and Amanda. Weaver has created a cast that feels so real, so tangible, that they practically leap off the page. As a reader who values both a compelling plot and well-developed characters, I found the balance in this book to be perfection. The characters are not just players in the mystery; they are living, breathing individuals with whom readers can connect on a personal level. I will say that I did find Amanda’s friends, Mal and Cole, to be a bit annoying and underdeveloped, but that also is relatively realistic for teenage characters, especially when the main focus is on Vince/Amanda. The way that Cole wanted to use Amanda and practically emotionally blackmails her at the beginning irked me, but he did grow on me as the story progressed.

The storytelling and prose are, without a doubt, the backbone of this book. The narrative is rich, engaging, and filled with an abundance of twists and turns. Weaver skillfully weaves multiple crimes into the plot, creating a fast-paced page-turner that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The mystery, the intrigue, and the setting all contribute to an irresistible combination that makes it challenging to pinpoint what I loved most about the book.

A unique feature of "Lie Until It's True" is its incorporation of social media into the storyline, adding an extra layer of depth and intrigue. While the story does take some time to set up, every detail serves a purpose, and the payoff is undoubtedly worth the initial investment. The unexpected plot twists keep the reader guessing. I especially enjoyed the social media posts at the beginning of each chapter, especially with the use of Tik Toks described in the novel. I don’t think I’ve read a YA book that has incorporated Tik Tok in this way, and it’s definitely unique; it reminded me of how some YA books incorporate podcasts. I guess the use of Tik Tok is the next big thing. I think this aspect will be most interesting to teenage readers.

"Lie Until It's True" is a must-read for anyone who loves mystery, thrills, a touch of the supernatural, and a well-crafted narrative. Whether you're drawn to Colorado, historical elements, or a combination of these, Weaver's book is a story that deserves a spot on your bookshelf. I wholeheartedly recommend bringing this book home and diving into its gripping world of lies, mysteries, and unexpected truths.

Let me first say you do not necessarily need to read the first book by Jessie Weaver for this book to make sense, however it can be helpful.

But I definitely did not expect what was going on with our protagonist Amanda, nice use of science there.

Good story, does take some time to get fully set up, but it is needed.

Maybe in the final print, the chapters could have POV titles.

Lie Until It's True is a YA thriller that pieces together two separate crime storylines, a murder that already has been tried and a crime that is waiting to be solved. I especially loved the use of the character's hobby as a TikTok true crime influencer.

The eerie setting and unsettling tension in this thriller pulled me in from the start, and after a shocking turn of events, I was turning the pages so fast to uncover what happened! I had my theory on which way I thought this was going, then Jessie pulled the rug out from under me! This was a layered, complex YA thriller that you will gobble up. I enjoyed the depths of each character, too—so much doubt was cast! There is a storyline involving one character's health, in particular, that was used so excellently. Really enjoyed this one!

Amanda is struggling, her sister has spent there years being charged and on trial for murder. Amanda is the one who turned her in. To handle the guilt and stress she created an anonymous TikTok documenting the trial. Six months ago Vince’s mom was arrested for murder, she had the weapon and was soaked in blood. Vince doesn’t believe she’s guilty. Now Amanda is returning to spend time with her Summer friends, she hasn’t seen them in three years. Vince hasn’t spoken to her in months. Now they’re going their friends Cole and Mal believe they have a way to prove Vince’s mom’s innocence. The problem is Vince doesn’t know if he wants to drag his family through things again. And Amanda would have to give up her anonymity. Is it worth it? But when Amanda wakes up at another murder scene with no memory of what happened they may not have a choice if they want to prove her innocence as well. The problem is Amanda doesn’t know if she’s innocent. And can Vince really trust her? A thrilling fast paced mystery that will have readers consuming it! I loved that it also involved multiple mysteries, who killed the current victim, who killed Royden Das (the man Vince’s mother is accused of murdering), and years ago did Mal’s ancestor really commit suicide? Everyone had something to hide and secrets they’re keeping! Perfect for mystery fans! Highly recommend! Can’t wait to read it again!

This one had so many twists and turns that kept me guessing until the last page - I couldn't put this one down! I felt it was relatable with the social media tie-in and that made it feel a lot like Good Girl's Guide to Murder but with TikTok instead of a podcast! The paranomal aspect wasn't really my thing, but I know so many of my 7th grade thriller lovers who would devour this one! Thanks so much for this ARC - Weaver's an author I have my eye on!

Lie Until it's True is a YA thriller with lots of twists and turns.
I enjoyed the setting: an old, creepy hotel where a murder has taken place 6 months earlier.

After 2 years, Amanda's sister is found not guilty of murder. But Amanda is immediately thrust back into the spotlight as her friends try to solve another crime.
This one kept me guessing.
