Seamless Embroidery
Yumiko Higuchi
I love to embroidery although it has been several years since I have tried my hand at it. Author Yumiko Higuchi offers readers several patterns to use in creating a variety of products. The patterns are for a versatile skill set. The patterns are so cute. I love chicken and eggs. I usually lean toward crewel embroidery and many of the stitches in this book can be used in crewel embroidery.
Your imagination is the limit of what you can create with the instructions in this book.

This has some really fun and beautiful patterns. I really like that it isn't just an embroidery book but includes projects to put the embroidery on.

This book provides instructions for using repeating patterns for small and large embroidery projects and provides some basic information on tools, materials and basic stitches. It includes the patterns and suggested projects for using those patterns. I wish they were presented together - they are in different sections of the book. As a beginner, I would also like to see more instructional detail. This seems to be more appropriate for someone with more practice.

Thank you to #NetGalley and #ShambhalaProductions for a free copy of #SeamlessEmbroidery by Yumiko Higuchi. All opinions are my own.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley.

I was excited to get this one! I love the author's embroidery style, and I have some of her other books. Per usual, the patterns were cute and the photos were inspiring. I'm not sure I would actually make the projects included, but I would stitch these just for fun.

This is a small but beautiful book of repeating embroidery patterns. I love how there are colour pictures of the patterns, and then an example of how to use the design. I only wish that the actual pattern for the design and then project immediately followed the photo of the example, instead of being shown further in the book.

Another gorgeous embroidery book from Yumiko Higuchi that makes me want to break out my embroidery needles and thread. Yumiko’s stitching is unbelievably perfect, but they make you believe you can embroider that way too, The projects are presented in the front of the book and then the stitch directions and project instructions are in the back, All in all a lovely book with plenty of different repeat patterns to satisfy every crafter.
Thank you to Net Galley, Shambhala Publications, Inc., and Roost Books for the eARC.

Thank you so much to NG for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As someone who loves embroidery I was so happy to get this ARC. I have some skill but love looking over ideas and fine tuning my skill. Unfortunately this book was so chaotic. The patterns are gorgeous but the instructions are weirdly in the back of the book away from the images which was weird and made you loose interest. That also was hard to follow since you had to keep going back and forth. As noted- I already had some embroidery knowledge and thank the lord for that because the stitch instruction was literally impossible to follow. While I knew how to do them, I was still confused looking at the breakdown.

The book is about stitching simple repeating designs to cover small or large areas. The designs are very pretty and elegant. Each design was stitched twice, on different color fabric. One shows the large repeating pattern, and the other sample is sued for a small project, like a bag, or collar, or fabric box, or a wrap, and lots of other projects. I loved seeing how different the same design with the same colors looks on different backgrounds. Everything is stitched so nice and neat. Then they provide instructions not only how to make embroidery stitches, but also how to make sure the stitching is nice and neat - so there are instructions on how to make curves and angles, and how to fill out differently shaped areas and other things showing great attention for details. Then there are instructions and charts for the embroideries - dark colored outlines and light colored instructions with color numbers and stitches used. The patterns use DMC threads and Clover supplies. Then at last there are instructions on how to make up the projects that use the embroidery.
The whole book is so beautiful.
