Thank you so much to Minotaur Books for the ARC!

Side note: this may be one of my favorite book covers ever! I mean, look at it!!

FINALLY an actually thrilling thriller! Just like THE NIGHT SHIFT by Alex Finlay, this one had me on the edge of my seat and was non-stop action! If like me, you loved THE NIGHT SHIFT and maybe didn't love WHAT HAVE WE DONE, you need to give this one a shot!!

There was one twist that really got me good! It's so rare that a twist is SO well done and SO satisfying that I literally wanted to applaud Finlay for the way he pulled this one off!

There was a lot going and this required my full attention, which was easy to give because I couldn't look away! I started reading this with a friend and left her in the dust (sorry) because I literally couldn't put it down! Make sure when you plan to start that you carve out a large chunk of time!

Finlay has definitely become an auto-buy author for me and I can't wait to see what he comes up with next! This one will be a huge hit for sure!

This will be available on May 28th!

While I'm not typically drawn to stories involving organized crime, this book had me hooked from the first chapter! Told from multiple points of view, I finished this book in a few days. Full of action, twists, and turns, you will not be able to put this down until you find out the truth of what really happened to Allison. I highly reccommend spending the day with If Something Happens to Me ... you will not regret it!

The absolute definition of a popcorn thriller! I could not put this down!! Short thrilling chapters that ended on cliff hangers. Multiple POVs. Twists. International chases. This was SO FUN and so well written! One of the easiest reads I’ve had in a while and I absolutely devoured it. As I was reading, it played out perfectly as a movie in my head… this would do great as an adaptation! Anyways, if you’re looking for a fun, bingeable thriller, this is a must read.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ just for the entertainment factor alone!

Alex Finlay does it again! What a wild ride this thriller was! This book had a missing girl, murder, mobsters and was completely action packed. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! If you like short chapters, then you will love this one. With 3 different POVs/storylines this book was still so easy to follow. And the author did a great job of seamlessly intertwining all three so they came together for a perfect ending. I’ve read all of Alex Finlays books and this one was definitely in my top!

The premise of this book hooked me fairly quickly. I always enjoy Alex Finlay's work and the twists and turns that come with it. I did not see the end coming at all.

I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. I was worried the multiple POVs would get confusing, but it really didn’t. If I didn’t have kids I would have read this on one sitting. I appreciated that the climax happened, and we still got a handful of chapters after, that it didn’t feel rushed, or lacking. highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this one! Page-turning thriller you can’t put down. There’s a jaw-dropping twist I loved and didn’t see coming. Bit of tragedy and heartbreak but also filled with surprises and hope. Satisfying ending. Highly recommend!
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. This is only my second book by Alex Finlay but I’ve realized I need to go back and read his others.
Look for this at the end of May!

This was an awesome page turner, surprises and bombshells kept dropping, and sometimes when you least expected!
Be careful whom you work for or befriend, also whom you trust, sometimes they are wolves in sheep clothing!
We are gifted with so many twist and turns, and then an epilogue, um, not where I usually expect it, but then more surprises!
I loved that we are even surprised at then end!
Now I'm going to be looking for more by Alex Finlay, thank you!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher St. Martin's Press, and was not required to give a positive review.

This was a rollercoaster ride. I was equally wanting to find out how it ended while wanting it to continue. Thank you to Netgalley, St. Martins Press, Minotaur books and the author for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Oh I really liked this book! I will admit at first I was confused about how all the different point of views were going to merge together, but when it did I was in shock! I loved that this story kept me on my toes the whole time and made me want to keep reading! I loved the thrill of the story and the satisfaction of the ending! It was great read and I would definitely recommend it!

Another hit by Alex Finlay! This one hooks you right away…the prologue tells the story of Ryan and Allison who are saying goodbye to one another other as they leave for college. Ryan is hit over the head, removed from the car, and wakes up to the car and Allison missing.

Five years later the car is finally discovered in a lake with a note inside saying “If something happens to me…” From here all twists begin. Enter some additional points of view and different timelines which made the book even harder to put down. Be ready for an intense roller coaster ride!

5⭐️ If Something Happens To Me- Alex Finlay

𝐒𝐘𝐍𝐎𝐏𝐒𝐈𝐒

For the past five years, Ryan Richardson has relived that terrible night. The car door ripping open. The crushing blow to the head. The hands yanking him from the vehicle. His girlfriend Ali’s piercing scream as she is taken.

With no trace of Ali or the car, a cloud of suspicion hangs over Ryan. But with no proof and a good lawyer, he’s never charged, though that doesn’t matter to the podcasters and internet trolls. Now, Ryan has changed his last name, and entered law school. He's put his past behind him.

Until, on a summer trip abroad with his classmates, Ryan gets a call from his father: Ali's car has finally been found, submerged in a lake in his hometown. Inside are two dead men and a cryptic note with five words written on the envelope in Ali’s handwriting: If something happens to me…

As Ryan races around, he has no idea that his salvation may lie with a young sheriff’s deputy in Kansas working her first case, and a mobster in Philadelphia who’s experienced tragedy of his own.

𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒:

WOOOO what a wild ride. This story was refreshing (different than the same old plot) and fast paced, total page turner. With a large cast of main and auxiliary characters I spent the whole book with a mental detective board in my head with strings all over the place trying to figure out how the puzzle pieces fit together.

I really enjoyed the background of the mob-plot, I’ve always been interested in stories about that sort of dynamic. Combined with the police force, day to day plot this book was a winner for me. The complexity of the backgrounds, plot and character that the author was able to shove into this book was impressive.

Told from several distinct, compelling characters whose paths intersect, detonating into a story of twist after pulse-pounding twist.

THANK YOU to netgally, Alex Finaly, St Martins Press, and Minotaur books for the ARC! Keep an eye out for this one set to be published in May 2024!

I love thrillers that keep me wondering how all the characters will come together. This is definitely one of those thrillers that pulls you in from the first chapter, and then throws a lot of twists at you. Alex Finlay does a phenomenal job with the characters in this book, they were well-developed and had a lot of depth to them.

Each POV gave us a different perspective of the mystery surrounding the characters - mainly we have Poppy McGee, a brand-new detective in Leavenworth, Kansas; Ryan, a law student on a trip with his cohort in Italy; and O'Leary and Michael who are part of a crime syndicate on the east coast.

It was such a fast-paced thriller I whipped through it in about a day; it was really hard to put down! It is probably one of his best books yet.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for sending me an ARC of If Something Happens to Me in exchange for an honest review.

Five years ago, Ryan and Ali were about to leave Leavenworth, Kansas for separate colleges. As they were saying goodbye, someone dragged Ryan out of Ali’s car and knocked him unconscious. When he woke up the next morning, Ali and her car were gone. Ryan was a suspect in her disappearance, but he was never charged, and eventually her disappearance was linked to the Missouri River Killer.

Now, Poppy shows up for her first day as a Deputy Sheriff in Leavenworth when Ali’s car is found in Suncatcher Lake. Inside are two dead men and Ali’s purse, which had a sealed letter inside with “If something happens to me” on the outside and a coded message inside. At the same time, Ryan is a law student traveling in Italy when, unbelievably, he not only sees the man who dragged him out of Ali’s car, but is told by the man that Ali may still be alive ….

If Something Happens to Me is a fast, fun thriller. As with Mr. Finlay’s other books, the story shifts between different narrators. I liked Ryan and Poppy’s characters, and there’s a good twist at the midpoint. That said, this book didn’t work for me as well as Mr. Finlay’s first two novels. I’m not sure the plot would hold up on a rereading, and the late twist was very predictable. It’s solid, but still a bit underwhelming. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Thank you NetGalley and Minotaur Publishing for an ARC digital copy of this book. Finley did it again! His writing absorbed me! I truly took my time with this one, I was enjoying it so much and didn’t want it to end! I also appreciated the short chapters. This book had great momentum and I spent the whole time trying to figure it out. It was a bittersweet story for Michael and his family, and I even feel for the O’Leary’s. Just an overall great book!

I loved Finlays The Night Shift, however all the books after that have been a let down for me and this one was no exception. I couldn’t connect to the characters or plot for some reason. I did enjoy the short chapters but I lost interest really quick and to be honest skimmed the second half of the book.

I don't think Alex Finlay can write something I won't like. It seems impossible at this point! If Something Happens to Me is an unputdownable read and you won't have a hard time reading it in one sitting!

Fast paced, short chapters kept the pages flying on this little mystery thriller. Was super easy to get into the story. Nothing too complicated and was a pretty quick read.

Really loved the separation in locations and then how everything came together in the end! I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how everyone is intertwined and loved how it ended. Another well written book by Finlay!

IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO ME By Alex Finlay

Mobs, murder, and missing girls. What else could a thriller need?

Seriously, I loved this new release from Alex Finlay! It was thriller mixed with action movie that kept me fully invested until the end.

Ryan and Alison are high school sweethearts, but she is taken one night while they're together and everyone blames him. Years later, he's tried to move on. Poppy is back in her hometown as newly appointed deputy sheriff. Alison's missing car is found in the lake, and the two bodies inside start a new chain of evidence to Alison's disappearance. Michael is involved with a dangerous mobster, tiptoeing around making him angry. This means doing the mobster a favor and involving his daughter, and possibly putting her in danger if there's any slip up's.

So much happens in this novel- each POV has "edge of your seat" action. Even once I figured out the mystery, the action kept me invested and wanting to know what was going to happen. Love a thriller from this author!
