Thank you to NetGalley and the author for providing me with a free e-ARC of this book!
Growing up reading and watching Heartland, and having had horses for most of my life, I knew I needed to read this book.
I really enjoyed the focus on barrel-racing and bull-riding, and I liked that we got a glimpse into what it is like to actually bull-ride, though I do feel that it was made to seem a bit too easy.
The overall story was fun and easy to read, but it did lack depth at times. I feel like the characters came across as a bit one-dimensional, and I wish the author had explored them more. Vic's need to connect to her father was evident, but I wanted more than that; I wanted to be able to connect with her and the other characters more.
Overall a fun, easy book for young readers who love horses and Western riding.
