I'm a bit wrecked after finishing this book.

It pulled on every. single. heart string that I have and twisted me into a crying mess.

But like, in a good way.

Losing someone you love is truly gut-wrenching.

And as I was reading, I couldn't help but resonate with so SO much of Rosemary. It was like Alison was writing about me.

But at the same time, part of me was also connected to some of those deep-rooted feelings that Logan had as well.

This was just a beautifully written story.

But fair content warnings to all: Mentions of cancer, parental death and abandonment, and detailed caregiving.

Thank you to @atriabooks and @netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for this review!

Ever go into a book for the summer road trip vibes but come out of it with so much more? That's this book.

Here we go again deserves all the praises and hype. It's quickly becoming my go to summer book recommendation. It gave me EVERYTHING I look for in a summer romance novel. The road trip, the beautiful outdoorsy settings, a cast of found family characters who will stick with you, engraving themselves into your memory for eternity. It's bright, sunshiney, but also tragic and gut wrenching. I'm clenching my chest where my heart is just thinking back upon this touching story.

I love all of Alison's books. They have all been 5 stars, but this one is my absolute favorite.

Thank you Netgalley, Atria Books, and Alison Cochrun for eARC.

Here We Go Again is out now.

It's been a while since a book made my cry but this one managed it.

A sapphic friends-to-enemies-to-lovers set on a road trip where Logan and Rosemary are taking their beloved former teacher turned friend to Maine. Oh and he happens to be dying of cancer, which will make you cry.

Alison Cochrun did something really special with this book. She not only manages to grow a romance against the backdrop of tragedy but explore death and dying. In a world where there have not always been visibly gay older people, it's a powerful thing to have an older queer character. There's a moment where Joe remarks about the AIDS crisis and that "gay men don't get to grow old" and I sobbed.

There's also all these beautiful little hints about how there's queer people everywhere. Even in the South where people like to pretend we aren't.

As always, Alison Cochrun's discussion of characters who are not fully allo is amazing and well done.

I loved this. It was beautiful and sad and romantic all at once

this is my favorite Cochrun book thus far! This book had some much great stuff and the romance was great. While this is definitely a romance book there is so much more than that. This is a book about grief and self exception. This book is a love story to the queer community and queer history. This is a book about art and a book about loves beyond just romance. This book is just all around beautiful. I haven't read a book that had me laughing one minute and crying the next. This book is an absolute breath of fresh air and I can't wait to bug everyone about reading it! Please do yourself a favor and read this one. This book is definitely worth your time.

What a cute story. We follow Rosemary (perfectionist extraordinaire) and Logan (hot mess express) as they drive their favourite person and teacher, Joe, across country so he can die in his old home. I enjoyed the representation and diversity, but the lack of communication is always something that bothers me. Joe and Remy were my absolute favourite and I didnโ€™t realise how much I miss going to drag shows ๐Ÿ˜ฉ. I need to find one ASAP.

I would recommend Here We Go Again to anyone who wants a cute friends to enemies to lovers story and a beautiful message of living your life while you can.

โ€œLife is like the prickly pear. Itโ€™s always going to be a combination of beauty and hurt, no matter how hard you try to protect yourself from the hard parts. There is no way to avoid pain.โ€

I fell in love with Alison Cochrunโ€™s writing and storytelling when I first read โ€œThe Charm Offensive.โ€ Reading โ€œHere We Go Againโ€ was like falling in love all over again. This story is sentimental, funny, heartwarming, sad, and pulls at your heart strings in all the best ways. It has a beauty and rawness to it that is absolutely captivating, and it was an excellent read.

I have never wanted to go on a cross country road trip more than after reading this book!

Thank you NetGalley, Atria Books and Allison Cochrun for the ARC.

This is my second book by Alison Cochrun and I loved it more than the last. I really loved the push and pull relationship of Rosemary and Logan in this enemies to lovers, second chance romance that really asks the question of how far you'll go for someone you love. I also enjoyed the complexity given to Joe's character; who could have been written as an easy plot device, saw quite a lot of character development from start to finish. In a way, I am glad the happy ending I didn't know he deserves when I was first introduced to him in the beginning. There is spice in the book that I felt was well written. I really enjoyed this book.

Thank you Atria books for the gifted ARC.

Here We Go Again is a pretty formulaic road trip romance with an added element of a beloved teacher tagging along to fulfill his dying wish. Because it felt pretty formulaic, I had trouble staying engaged throughout the whole story because parts of it felt like they all blended together. Alison Cochrunโ€™s books always have great character development and beautifully tender romantic relationships, which were the standouts of this story. The audio was great though at times hard to tell whose POV we were hearing since both female narrators sounded similar.

Content flags: on page descriptions of death and dying; parental abandonment; on page panic attacks

Road trip novels are so much fun, and Here We Go Again by Alison Cochrun does not disappoint!

Although, this story is much, much more than a road trip book to throw into your summer beach bag.

Read this novel if you like:
* Friends > Enemies > Lovers
* Second chance romance
* LGBTQIAP+ representation
* Complicated, emotional family dynamics
* Open door romance
* Laugh out loud humour
* Some truly memorable quotes

Note there is terminal illness and end of life content in this novel.

At at point in this novel, I wasnโ€™t sure if I was fully invested and there were some things two of the main characters, Rosemary and Logan, did (or didnโ€™t) that was a little frustrating. However, by the time I had a third of the story left, the magic of this story completely clicked. I had tears springing into my eyes (one may need a tissue or three), and by the end I had highlighted several passages, shed some tears, and realized I really really liked this story. I loved the characters Rosemary, Joe, Remi, Odysseus, and even Logan grew on me.

Thank you to Atria and Netgalley for the electronic advance reader copy in exchange for my honest review.

This was one of my most highly anticipated releases of 2024 and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! I love a friends-to-enemies-to-lovers romance and the point in where it picked up at the beginning of the book was perfection.

Alison is the queen of blending sadness, drama, and humor. She effortlessly integrates pop culture references into the foundation of the story to add light where there is dark. HERE WE GO AGAIN tackles some of her darkest and deepest pain yet. While Rosemary and Logan couldn't be more different, their common thread? The relationship their share with their favorite HS English teacher, Joe.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book! From the banter, to the deeper themes, to the LOL-moments... It was refreshing and comforting and such a sweet reminder that life is for living!

I am a sucker for a grandpa/old man storyline. Such a lovely, emotional story. I thought the death/grief was handled with such great care.

I have read all of Alison's books and this one had such a great story. Childhood friends, small town, dealing with Queer identities. The impact that our teachers have on our lives, the importance of representation and diversity. Grief.

I loved it. However, there were things in the book that were added, i assume for humor, and it just took me out of the space and feeling that the story was putting me in. and it made it hard to reconnect when almost every phrase started with a queer person's first name, f*ing, last name. it just made it hard to stay in the right mood.

- OMG, this book ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญโค๏ธ I very NEARLY cried reading this book, which is high praise because books never make me cry.
- You wouldnโ€™t think this book, which you know is going to end in a death, would be so hilarious, but it is. I loved the road trip shenanigans and the bickering and the joy and beauty found in the bleakest of times.
- Then, of course, this book is also filled with thorny questions of how to live your life and what are the most important things in that life. Just a treat, all around.
- I also loved how Loganโ€™s ADHD and Rosemaryโ€™s anxiety are not problems to be fixed, but integral parts of who they are. (Not that I expected anything less from Cochrun!)

A second chance sapphic romance that is an absolute roller coaster of emotions.

Alison Cochrun does it again!! She is one of my all time favorite authors and with this newest release, she once again manages to make feel such a range of emotions in 300something pages.

Here We Go Again follows two former best friends Logan and Rosemary as they take their dying former English teacher turned life mentor on a cross country end of life road trip to take him to his final resting place. Along the way, these two reconcile with their unresolved feelings for each other as well as learn a lot about their places in the world.

This book has some fantastic ADHD representation as both leads are diagnosed with wildly different presenting symptoms. Alison is so good at writing unapologetically gay characters and I enjoyed this group's adventures in the Gaymobile across the country. Joe was such a fantastic mentor these two and really encouraged both of them to be more accepting of themselves and each other. I laughed, I cried, I felt so many feelings. I knew this book would make me cry, but make sure you have a box of tissues beside you.

There is so much love to be felt in this book and I loved my time with it and can't wait to pick it up again.

Thank you again to Netgalley and Atria for this advanced copy, all thoughts are my own.

"Love is finding someone who helps you rewrite the story of yourself."
Here We Go Again is one of those books.
It's one of those books that makes you find something to appreciate on every page. It makes you swoon, makes you think.
Makes you read until 3 a.m., when you really should put the book down because you need to get some damn sleep, but instead you've got all the feels, and tears streaming with a smile on your face.
It's the prickly pear of novels - beautiful and painful in tandem.
I've loved Alison Cochrun's previous two novels (The Charm Offensive and Kiss Her Once For Me) and Here We Go Again tops them all.
The characters of Logan, Rosemary and Joe are so vivid. So loveable and so flawed, I fell entirely into their Gay Mobile "death trip" journey. (And one other character, who I can't name before you read it, is now in my top favourite characters ever.)
There is too much to gush over here, quite honestly. In summary, I loved this book and highly recommend.
Released on April 2.

2024 is the year of books breaking our hearts and deserving all the stars for it. I absolutely LOVED every second of this book.

I laughed so much and I cried even more. The banter throughout this book is absolutely unmatched. The way they all love and care for each otherโ€ฆ. Even when they donโ€™t ๐Ÿ˜‰ is so perfect.

However, if I hear one more person call Logan a fuckboy or that she doesnโ€™t care about anyone Iโ€™m throwing hands. Logan is perfect.

This book made me ugly cry and I wasn't even mad about it....

This book really had everything. It made you feel everything so deeply, but also still kept things light enough to be thoroughly entertained by the story. The characters were all fantastic and I really felt like I was along for this road trip.

Bonus points for Abba songs being stuck in my head the entire time I was reading.

๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™€๏ธ What to Expect: Sapphic Romance, LGBTQIA+, Contemporary Romance, Adult/Women's Fic
Tropes: childhood BFFs, small town, road trip, friends-enemies-lovers, 1 bed

Summary: Logan Maletis and Rosemary Hale were BFFs until they weren't. Ten years later, both in their 30s are now English teachers at their alma mater, and want to give their mentor Joseph "Joe" Delgado a good sendoff. He's terminally ill and wants them to go a road trip with him from WA to Maine. They are opposites in that Logan is emotional, impulsive, and has had a string of bad lovers; while Rosemary is closed off, needs to be in control, and wants security. Together with Joe as mediator, they fight to find common ground.

๐Ÿค”My Thoughts: Joe was genius for this reunion between former friends. It was great way to dish out all their issues and reconcile. It was heart breaking watching Joe fade, but they all unpack old baggage. Joe was candid and told hard truths, and Rosemary and Logan got to know each other again. Teacher appreciation at it's finest, shout out my English teacher Ms. Kitchenman who kept this weirdo kid company!

Thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. These opinions are my own.

This is the book I didn't know I needed in my life. Logan and Rosemary are estranged childhood best friends. Both were inspired by their high school English teacher Joe. Both ultimately became English teachers at their old high school. And now, Joe has asked them to take him on a road trip from the Pacific Northwest to Maine as de is dying of cancer.

As you can tell from that quick synopsis, this book is intense and emotional. I cried so much, but I also laughed out loud. As I am currently caregiving for a loved one who is dying, I actually found this book extremely cathartic and somehow hopeful. I know I will go back to it again and again, as it made me feel seen and understood.

The story was beautifully written. With this second chance romance, I was so impressed that we learned about Logan and Rosemary's backstory at appropriate places. We were not kept in suspense too long about what went wrong in their friendship. Throughout, the book had amazing pacing. I loved that the dual POV switched whenever necessary, sometimes at chapters and sometimes at paragraphs. It just worked.

I also loved the opposites attract nature of their story. They had fantastic chemistry. Logan is the spontaneous free spirit, and Rosemary is the planner. Both were amazing representations of neurodivergence. I regularly switched my idea of which character I resonated with more strongly. I think that points to just how amazingly deep and nuanced these women were.

And the secondary characters grabbed me just as much. I won't say more despite knowing I could go on and on forever. Instead, I'll just say that I love everything Alison Cochrun writes, and this is my new favorite.
